The Live Update thread for the 2021 Morgan Cup is here.
The question is asked, what happens when you take a group of THP Forum Members and make them tour players for a journey that leads to a weekend of competition. Where they get the same tour level treatment including bag, clubs, accessories and even apparel scripting? The Morgan Cup happens…DO YOU WANT TO BE A TOUR PLAYER?

You will be able to follow along with the entire event live below and watch something special unfold as 14 THPers become Tour Players for a weekend. There could be some live streaming both here and on Instagram Stories. Make sure you follow along to everything to take it all in and see how your team you picked in the contest is doing. There will be a lot of tech talk, a lot of tour talk and a lot of fun, so jump into the thread and have some fun with the participants as they go on the epic conclusion of this wild journey.
THE 2021 MORGAN CUP IS HERE!

I was wondering. Thought basketball case, but it looked a little smaller.
PERFECT for these items.

The green one looks like a TPC marker.
Side note – I love that style as a keepsake; with the hole yardages around the edge.
@Muchmore – the green one looks like a TPC branded.

Absolutely! So many great memories
Man I don’t even know where to begin…
If you know me at all, you know I LOVE the Morgan Cup. Having done this a few times I like to say I bleed Paradise Blue. This year was different, it just was I can’t put my finger on why but I felt it all year. Maybe it was thinking it would be my last Morgan Cup and I wasn’t sure how that made me feel but as we got closer and closer something changed, something clicked, I felt it… I needed it and it all started to come together. The team had become just that…a team and we were ready to head into battle.
I didn’t know if the event was coming back, I kind of had the feeling this was it. When we arrived to kick of the festivities on Friday night and @JB told myself and Captain @DataDude that it would be returning again and one of us would get to go return I was fired up. Mission 1 accomplished, make sure the event returns!
Instead of reliving the entire event thats already in this thread I’ll just post some memories that will last forever
Breakfast at the cracked egg with @hedley_lamarr08 telling his stories and had the entire table rolling in laughter…and disbelief haha
The generosity of the team with team gifts…and cookies!
Thinking I aced 16 as soon as it left my club during a crucial stretch of the shamble match
Watching @GolfTravelDude eagle the 17th from 155yds and then watching @jjsportz hit the freaking hole from 40 yds to almost do the unthinkable and halve that hole
The captains match that wasn’t
My singles match with @Jman, some may call it the concession part 2 but it was a BATTLE. We hit good shots, bad shots, we laughed, we had beers we had FUN. We WILL finish that match someday my friend.
@JB driving up to us who were in the first group telling me it was over and @tucsoncacti whose putter all week was on fire rolled in the final point!
@Scooby45 playing his ass off all weekend with a huge smile on his face
Echino (@echico) sorry @JDax :ROFLMAO: and his calves flexing on @Master Yagley
@zoveracker and his poker stacks!
Sharing a cart during a practice round with my man @LittleRat, always one of the highlights for me
Team Hackers
I know I didn’t get to play with many of you and we didn’t get to hang out much for whatever reason but from my brief interactions you were all pleasant to talk to and even though you didn’t win the cup I hope you realize you were all already winners! Not to mention you played a part in the Morgan Cup returning with your interactions and reviews on the forum so for that I say thank you!
Team Paradise
My guys, my team! I don’t know what to say, you guys showed up and played your hearts out for yourselves and for me! We had something to prove and I can’t thank you enough for being the awesome guys you are. We had a great time out there and I am happy to call you all not only teammates but brothers! I look forward to teeing it with you again in the future anytime, anywhere. We did it! Mission 2: accomplished.
Personal Note
I’m really happy with the way I played… minus a couple swings during my match with @Jman toward the end. The Cobra gear really shined for me, I had some absolute weapons in the bag this year as my hdcp got down to the lowest it has ever been at 5.4 and I think I played pretty close to my hdcp out there which as a competitor feels really good. This was one for the ages and I’ll admit that I started to get pretty emotional at the end and there might even be a photo of me that shows that somewhere.
Final Note
I know they don’t want it but a huge THANK YOU to @JB @GolferGal @Master Yagley @LittleRat for everything you guys do to make this event what it is. This event has become such a huge part of my life I told several people last weekend that without the Morgan Cup, I don’t know if golf would be the same for me. Thankfully right now I can say…
See you next year! #paradise4life
?? You @jdtox!
Love reading all these recaps/reflection posts.
It’s clear that the Morgan Cup is special and means so much to so many in this community -even to some of us who have not had the chance to participate in one yet, I would suspect.
Can’t wait to follow along next year.
I have a question for Team Hackers. There were some on Paradise that were really driven, upset, about the odds that @JDax put out. I was not one of those people. I mean how could he really put meaningful odds out if he has not played with most of the people in the event. It’s just of fun. Were the odds a thing for y’all? Did you agree with them?
I think he got my odds just about right for my game. I can look like a low single digit out there at times as well as a 15 for a 2-3 hole stretch. I typically play 11-14 good holes and the last ones are a lottery to see if I will break 80 or not.

I kinda understand getting a little driven by something like that.
But if you’re getting legit upset and mad at the person doing it, there needs to be some self-reflection.

Oh I know. I mean out of 16 people are they all going to have the right handicap? Did they all play a variety of courses? Do they play with forced carries? Altitude? pressure? Totally a shot in the dark that you did well. It is just funny to me how the us against the world mentality sets in when someone feels slighted. Again I read the odds and watched the show and figured hey

I think the more experience rookies that are in an event, the more angst the Odds & Preview could cause…
It’s important to remember, the Preview & Odds thing, is somewhat for the participants, but mostly for those of us that are watching from home.
For the Record- I wasn’t the only one who picked Hackers on the Preview (Dan & E1iterate did too).. LOL I’m sorry to Paradise I didn’t have more faith…

Oh again I looked at it as entertainment. Nothing that was said was controversial. High/high in a 9 hole alt shot is bold. My motivation was making sure my calves were oiled up properly to intimidate. :ROFLMAO: I will say you made me a little uncomfortable waxing poetic about Little Rat. :p
I guess the right question for Hackers is did they feel they had to live up to the overwhelming favorite status?

Not a lot more to say than Thank You! You and your team killed it all year and last weekend! Excited to see you back next year sir!
Upset not really. Motivation yes. It was entertaining. Once I got to go back and listen.

@zoveracker and his poker stacks!
Nice recap, and thanks for sharing some of your highlight memories – some really special things happened at the Morgan Cup! That would have felt so good hearing @JB saying that it is returning!
Well done on your captaincy, repping THP, and ensuring this can come back for another year!

It’s for entertainment, and I was entertained at how upset some of you guys got to be totally honest. They were also done blind so I never really understood the blowback, then again I’ve been on the bad side of his odds before so I knew it was all good entertainment.

Let me say this, I attempt to make the most educated guess I can with at times very limited information. I think some would be surprised with how much time I devote to this, I do a lot of research:
I look through the post history of the participants, to try to gleam information about the state of their game.
I look at the format & handicap math.
l look at the course.
If a participant has played in an Experience before, I go back to those Live Threads and see how they played.
Ask @e1iterate there are legal pads filled with random notes for the event.
I’ve done this for years, and I learned that in the experiences with a competitive component, some people need to create a Me v The World internal narrative to motivate them. In those cases, perceived disrespect from the Odds becomes a focus area. In those cases ?

Never once questioned that.

And you do it for the entertainment and fun of others.
If people don’t like being selected as underdogs, be more noticeable on the forum haha. :D:D:D
You have never seen most of them play, have no idea how the pressure will hold and still have fun with it.
Its all about fun, just like our experiences.

I fell into the @echico side, all in the name of fun and engagement, but for my teammates who it helped get the focus and playing up, I’m not complaining you made us dogs…
I’m looking forward to chipping in next year ?
