I think it depends on the golfer, really, not the format. Look at Bryson, he’s out there grinding and continually working on himself and his game. Then you have guys like DJ, got their bag and are just living in the world of irrelevance.

That world sounds amazing.

They’ve won one, and have almost won a couple others. They’re fine.

Kind of where I’m at as well, but there’s always that little inkling in the back of my brain that says someone like Rahm who was in contention just about every week, who’s now struggling a bit more- is that because of the format/getting the bag or just golf being hard.
Bryson was always a grinder/tinkerer so I get it not impacting him, Brooks really only showed up at the Majors (complete generalization on my part) dunno just a thought.

Golf is a game of ebbs and flows.
I also suspect in the next year or so we see them go to 72 and REALLY fuck with the PGAT.

That’s where I’m at with it. I think LIV is perfect for guys like Bryson and Brooks. I think Rahm misses the more competitive aspect of the PGA.

100% agree. I dont think LIV is the right spot for Rahm. He isnt being pushed, he’s complacent, and it has showed in the Majors this year.

Bryson turns 31 in September. Most of his issues were when he was in his early to mid 20’s. There are a lot of people that do dumb things at that age. Bryson has matured a lot over the last 2-3 years and a lot after his dad passed. I am glad to see he is starting to fit in his own skin and allowing his personality to show.

Same- glad to see him finally push through a Sunday and get one. So many clutch putts and shots over the last round. Unfortunately I was on the edge of my seat going when is that one shot going to come that puts him out of contention and luckily it never did.

I think people can learn and grow, he came out of this week with a different view of him by most fans.

For sure it is, but I don’t care if it is or not, it happened, and it’s still bullshit.
Happy for Xander getting the win. I couldn’t watch the end but Bryson is fun to watch when he’s in contention.
The real asterisk this week isn’t The Gooch, but Scottie getting kneecapped and getting taken out of the tournament.

Haven’t had a chance to watch the end. Will have to watch tonight. Hoping this isn’t a one and done situation with Xander.
That’s good of him to do that. dude that tried to take the ball was a douche to try to pull that move. Bryson did a couple things right out there this tournament, but it’s gonna take WAAAAAY more than that to make up for what he’s done on the past, imho.
I’m with you with his actions with Cobra, but if we gave TW and others a second chance, it might be time to give the same courtesy to Bryson. We don’t have to forget, but forgiving is always a good thing especially when we know decisions driven by ego tend to not age well and he seems to realize that.
They would welcome them all back with open arms, and Monahan would eat that crow like his life depended on it.
But they don’t want to come back, and they don’t need to.
The PGAT would have all of them back in a heartbeat. It’s literally regulated the pro golf viewing to Majors and that’s it. Even the elevated events are not compelling. I think there are a handful of LIV guys that would come back, but agree a majority are just fine where they are.
Just my opinion here, but I feel like the LIV guys are far more content than the PGA guys.
Agree. I get the sense the PGAT guys (top 10-15) are not only grinding weekly, but have to carry the potential merger talks and all the off course stuff that takes away from any focus/fun they can have playing pro golf.

I think it’s good for Rahm also, but he is way too emotional to let the snide comments or whatever negative perception go. Bryson and Brooks have zero give a damn and nothing you say will rattle them. Rahm seems a little more sensitive to the “pro golf media” and their negativity with him and LIV.

A little off topic but, can someone educate me on this whole straddle the line of your putt, stare at the ground, turn around, stare at the ground, take a step, straddle again, turn around again, ad nauseam, again and again. WTF!

Aimpoint or Aimpoint Express.
They are trying to feel the break in the putt with their feet.

Thank you. Thought they were just trying to slow things down a bit. You know, a few more waggles here and there, milk the grip 50 or more times, etc.

Nope a decent, albeit slow method for putt reading. I’m a fan of the methodology if done quickly, they do not do it quickly– at all, ever.
