I have always been hesitant to spend the money on a fitting, however, I can say after this experience I would 1000% go to the fitting $100 or not. They have soo many levers to pull between the heads, shafts, weighting and moving COG that you could never determine on your own, especially for $100. If you buy the club from your fitting they waive the fee too. The other thing is that the Titleist fitters are the most qualified for their products based on the training they receive at headquarters before the product launch.
I can’t stress enough the level of confidence that I had immediately getting the GTS4 in my hand after being properly fit.
Was this your first fitting for clubs or had you done it before?

I have done multiple fittings over the years, but last few years I have been playing the self fitting game on my simulator setup with GC3. That is a super fun process but very time consuming, not to mention costly to acquire all of the parts. I am very familiar with what works and what doesn’t and had a pretty good idea going into the fitting with where I would end up. However, his ability to move things around on the spot and know exactly what the result would be was excellent. He gave me several workable options, but the most important thing was that he did not recommend making just one change and hoping it worked. He offered options that would let us test the theory behind the change and confirm whether it was actually producing the intended result before committing fully. This was not only for the ones that worked but also wanted to prove that certain changes did not work or perform. Further, without even offering this detail with the Titleist team at Dormie, they specifically mentioned they preach this level of detail to their staff fitters.

I believe so. I thought he was referring to tee boxes and fairways. My bad.
Yes, bentgrass greens. I’m surprised they do based on the climate but if you have a really good maintenance crew and a substantial budget, you can pull it off. But I bet it is very difficult to maintain and very costly.

I believe that! I hadn’t had an iron fitting in over 20 years and was just standard joe at the time. I was blown away at TPI, then had local fitting with Titleist for irons. The tech in equipment is one thing, the tech in the fitting is another. Boy did I get a lesson. Shew…

They have the fans to keep them cool. A lot of people think the heat is the hard part of Bentgrass but humidity is a major factor. In West Texas and the panhandle they have them. They may have to spray a little water on them during the day to cool them down some but they do well. It gets hotter there than it does around Austin but it’s less humid.
The other big part is Bent has to go dormant during the winter. In those parts of Texas it gets colder than it does around me in the Austin area. I don’t know of any courses around Austin that have it any more. It just doesn’t get cold enough for long enough.

Same! My GT1 has been a monster however I’m always looking for more.
I’m holding out for a free Titleist Fitting from one of Titleist Staff Fitters. Just don’t want to pay the $100 fitting fee if I can avoid it

I know @SpaceCity already replied but if you are pretty serious about buying then I’d do it. If you buy the cost goes toward the purchase. Question for the participants-
What was the best feature of the driver that you enjoyed the most?

The easy answer because you don’t have to worry about moving weights or hosel adapter is the Forgiveness on the toe side miss. Never had any dive left on me

My common miss is toe side and my current driver will pull to the left when I do that. Unfortunately we have massive trees right off a lot of tee boxes at my course and it costs me.
I just went through and figured up my fairways with the driver (not counting any fw’s off the tee).
Round 1- 10/13 and one missed one was 18 which was dead straight but through the fairway into the waste area. Two of those missed fairways were bad swings that I pulled left into the stuff. Re-teed and smoked both of those and made par with the 2nd ball.
Round 2- 7/9 since we finished after 13 holes.
Round 3- 9/12 with two of those that just barely missed left. Really only one miss right in 18 which was still playable.
So figuring it up I was 26-34 with the driver. In 2024 my FIR was 38%. 2025 was 45% and based on my last 20 scores which basically goes back to when I got my Max K a year ago I’m sitting at 50%.
The fact that I was at 76.5% in this trip is mind blowing. It’s also not like I was just taking advantage of large fairways. Yes Dormie Club has those but almost all the driver were banged straight down the middle and would have hit most fairways even if they were tight.
That is so awesome!

Those are some of the most fun discussions to have. I had my OEM headcovers on a lot, so people would notice that I had a full set of the new ones after the MC. Then I could explain how good the gear was.
I’m absolutely sure you guys will sell some clubs this year 😀 And it’s easy to have those discussions when the results are real and they can see it.

Great question, and apologies for the tardy reply I am trying to get caught up, and not leave things like this hanging.
So, I was in Elyte woods, I feel both shafts and flexes were too light for me and I was thus quite wild and hit the ball – when well struck so high that i lost more distance than expected.
I was (again for anyone who missed things):
GTS 4 10 degree with GD FI R flex 50 gram
GTS 3 16.5 with Tensei Blue R 65
GTS 2 21 with Tensei Red R 65.

@JW Smoove or anyone else, question for Josh Talge
Titlesist had “speed” issue with the drivers prior to 2020. Once the TS line came out they seemed to close the gap and have made each version better ever since. What was the one thing from that TS line that has carried over through the models up until now that helped them solve the speed problem and compete with other OEM’s?

So I have now had a bit more time to swing the clubs, and I can say they do everything that I expect and more, I will work on more details as I play my home course more and more (usually 2-3 times a week) plus some garage sim time.
But yesterday, I had the distinct honor to tee it up at Pinehurst #5 with @SVonhof, his wife Kathy (who should join as I think she’d fit in here very nicely – and I may have suggested that to her as well – sorry Scott) and @JHolt who ironically he and I hail from within about 15 miles of each though he’s slightly older – so we got to swap a few stories.
Anyway, the clubs – Driver – I had 2 wild hooks so far left they have landed 1 or 2 states west of NC. Also, wet (we played the 3 holes in some decent rain), the last tee was a dribbler off the tee – my fault not the club – but it still made the fairway (HAHAHA), so I hit all but 2 fairways, off the tee and the fairway woods other than 1 time where I peaked – and got ahead of myself topping the ball, they too performed. As an older distance challenged player, I think I am bit longer off the tee (at Dormie @JB was not super far ahead of me, but he was ahead). Now @Lord Tox @Raiderboost @Awkward silence and Josh Talge they are mad bombers – I would need to move up a timezone (maybe 3) to be where they hit balls. And fairways, I need to hit them a lot more than the other fellows – I think Raider hit maybe 2 or 3 in the our 2 rounds together, I likely hit 203 in the first 3-4 holes. They deliver as advertised, long straight and damn fun to hit.

Oddly – I putted pretty darn well – overall – round 1 was stunning, I think I was under 30 putts. Round 2 and 3 burned a ton of edges, and similar at Pinehurst. But, I am always looking. For anyone in the crew to ask at the AMA (@Raiderboost or @JW Smoove):
In the eyes of the Titleist team, what makes their drivers and fairway woods stand out in the crowded market?
Also, do they design specific models so they are geared toward certain players more than others? For instance, we are seeing folks who did the online fitting tool and some are recommending models other than the GTS.
I can only speak for myself, I was a high spin, weight back driver. I was fit in the lower spinning GTS 4 with the weight forward, the fitting tools never once put me in the 4. I would say – and this is a wild maybe, to be put in the 4 (by the tool) one may have said traditional shape head and a few other specific answers to be in the 4 – but that is a bit of a guess. At my fitting I simply did I wanted distance, that I was more often either in the fairway or playable if not, so I wanted as much distance as could be found.
