You will get a recommendation about shafts for your wedges that may be different from what you may think going in to the fitting.
You will definitely be seeing some spin in your fitting.

Agree- I had been using KBS $ Tapers in my wedges and the fitter thought they were crap and fit me into Dynamic Gold Tour S400’s. I absolutely love them.

– How would you rate your current short game? What’s working and what’s not?
Not great, need to get better from the rough and bunkers. When im having a good day im ok from 30-90 yds. Inside 30 yds I try to do too much sometimes and that leads to trouble.
– What is the biggest question you have around wedges?
Mostly how to pick what grinds and bounces. If I play different conditions, what should I prioritize when deciding on grind and bounce. Im under the impression that I should play low bounce because a lot of times I play on hard ground or there’s not a lot of grass (sometimes course conditions, mostly I get myself in bad situations 😃 ), but does this compromise my performance when im playing off a decent lie? Same situation with bunkers, my home course has terrible bunkers in that it has very little sand, would having too much bounce there be detrimental, but if I got to a course with nice bunkers is having not enough bounce detrimental?
– How do you currently play wedges? Or you a sweeper, digger, or something in the middle?
sweeper. I play 2 wedges 50, and 56 and almost never hit full shots with either.
– Besides the fitting, what else are you looking forward to once you step foot on TPI property?
For me, it’s prob all the knowledge and wisdom that will be shared. Not specific to stepping foot on TPI, but also very much looking forward to meeting more fellow THPers!
– Finally, a fun one: If you get the option to custom stamp your wedges, what are you going to do?
probably one with my wife’s name and some hearts. probably one with my forum name and some symbols to go with it.

I feel like my short game is what saves me a lot of the time. 100 yards and in is my sweet spot. the only thing I stuggle at times is getting out of the bunker. I play at a lot of different courses, and thus different kinds of sand. Adjusting to the different sand is hard without having a practice bunker. Sometimes rock hard dirt. Sometimes super fluffy new sand where you sink 4 inches in when you walk on it and it eats up your ball.
My biggest question is a about bounce. I understand the words when bounce is described, and what it “should” do, but putting that into practice, and knowing what is good for my swing vs. me just adjusting to the club is something I would love to know more about.
I am a sweeper. I love good clean contact, and don’t like taking a lot of dirt. Again, based on playing different courses, I don’t know how the ground is going to react, and since I play a lot of munis, the grass (sometimes dirt) is gonna be different depending on where on the hole or course you are. I find if I sweep, I remove some of that variable. Most of my wedges use is for chips, and pitches. I don’t love taking full shots. I am not afraid to take a flop shot over a bunker.
I am looking forward to the tour to watch club be made. Hopefully a tour through the Scotty shop, and definitely setting aside a fund for the store.
I have no solid plan on customization. I may go boring with dancing initials. Will have to give that more thought.

1. Consistency with the “scoring wedges” (48°–58°). I struggle with distance control on partial swings. I also have a tendency to “chunk” chips when the lie is tight or “blade” them across the green when I’m nervous about the chunk.
2. How much bounce do I need for my particular swing type
3. I’m something in the middle… Some swings are sweepers, some I take more divot than I’m willing to admit to
4. I’m hoping we get that chance to play a round of golf around the TPI practice area with Vokey and Scotty Cameron goodies… that looked like so much fun
5. If we get to stamp them, I’m probably going to do movie quotes… not sure if I pick one movie like Top Gun, a series like James Bond, or 3 really good ones…
My head is spinning now. Not sure what changed in my answers but I’ve never seen the k grind before recommended to me. Can’t wait to find out more in person…
Ooooo, homework. Love it!
– How would you rate your current short game? What’s working and what’s not?
I’d say it’s halfway decent. I think I’ve been rather obsessed with wedge work for a few years now. Even staking a few pros for some slo mo video at a few tournaments.
Part out of need, part out of it’s been then only golf outlet since taking on some big house projects, which are finally finished. Thankfully.
It seems to come and go sometimes and I’ll usually find that it’s flipping my hands and not a turn. I’ll spend hours “shooting groups” at the practice green. Usually around 15-20 yards. My next spot is into 58, 87, and 99 yard flags. No target green so it’s anyone’s guess. Struggle with smoothness/tempo when I might second guess that I’ve put the right amount of effort in to the swing and panic flip at impact.
– What is the biggest question you have around wedges?
1. Dialing in bounce and grind. I’m all over the place with my current set up(s). I’ve got a pretty good spread of vintage Vokey, 200 series to SM8. I don’t know why or how, but the 256-14 is my favorite of them all.
2. Shafts, shafts, shafts. Tour 115, S200, S400. I can tell the difference between them all, just don’t know which is correct and why.
– How do you currently play wedges? Or you a sweeper, digger, or something in the middle?
Probably more on the digger side. I think my swing is a bit upright and the tendency to flip just digs a bigger hole. Normally play square but no fear of a 60* flop. Ball position will creep back when things start to feel wristy.
– Besides the fitting, what else are you looking forward to once you step foot on TPI property?
Oh man….turf! Former course superintendent so you know I wanna see all the guts. They wouldn’t have to ask twice to bomb and level divots. I’ve been through the 2025 Live thread too many times to count and still can’t believe I’ll get to walk the halls that the pros get to. Excited to see behind the scenes and the racks of hardware. And of course, the crème de la crème if we get to meet the man. It’s already overwhelming…so friggin excited.
– Finally, a fun one: If you get the option to custom stamp your wedges, what are you going to do?
I’ve about worn out the Titleist website with this, just in case.
#1 – 4 daughters, 16-25 who are as thrilled as I am about going to TPI:

#2 – This is a reference to the 2025 Experience. Bob Vokey said something about “your authentic wedge game”. I don’t know the entire context was, but I liked the idea. To me it’s kinda “don’t internet golfer or arm chair golfer this shot, do what YOU can do”. May or may not been what he was referencing, but it keeps me humble thinking about it.

Whew….not sure if there was a word count restriction or not. 🤣
Biggest thing is I’m going be vulnerable…let the fitters fit and do what they say.
Tinker Bosco stays home.

I’ve had the BV stamps on my wedges and it is by far my favorite of the bunch.
When we got to walk through HQ last year, everyone got a small taste of the stamping variety and I’ll commit to it big time. Dancing BV logo is the MOST elite.
I am eager to see what they do with some of the wedge works options for 2026.
K* has been quite a staple in the bag, and while I really enjoyed every moment with the M grind, I definitely lean K* on my preference.

The bar has been set.

This will be quite interesting as to the predictions and as to your fitting this time. I know that one’s predictions can be completely different from one’s fitting. For me, it was really interesting and educational to learn how and why my predictions were so different from my ultimate fitting.
