Another good listen. The changes at Cleveland are intriguing and hope that it helps brings more marketing if their oviducts and not just their wedges.
The Grandura situation is interesting, that is a quick come and gone.
I hope Toulon can survive. They have some good looking putters and having them available to test in stores should help.
Great episode, So much information! Will need to listen again! Sorry to hear about Grandura shafts, so sad!! Callaway Live is a great show and everyone who likes golf should start listening!! Good Job guys!!
Enjoyed that. You can’t get this kind of insight into what’s happening in the industry, i.e. Cleveland and Grandura in this segment, anywhere else that I know of.
Really sad to hear about Grandura. Really had wanted to try them out!
Definitely think that Toulon has a good chance of surviving long term, taking it slow is the way to go.
Good discussion around Callaway Live, agreed that this season is off to a good start.
That’s too bad about Cleveland, apparently leadership didn’t think the marketing team was getting the job done – no matter how good of people they were, sorry to hear it though knowing a few of those guys that may be impacted. Will definitely be interesting to see if any “visible” changes take place that us casual golfers will notice.
Honestly not too surprised about Grandura. I know they come on quick but unsure how sales were going and can’t recall seeing much of a presence on tour. Perhaps this was a matter of “too early to market”with the technology? A term we hear quite a bit on Shark Tank.
Enjoyed the Toulon thoughts, getting to the Bettinardi level would be an enormous success. Curious if we start seeing any of these on the TV in a leaders bag on Sunday afternoon. Edit: glad to hear tour use is coming, looking forward to seeing whom that is.
Regarding the WGC, would love to see analysis done to show what would have potentially happened with the first match losses…any of them make it far into the event and have an impact on finale?
Another great show. I think this format worked well based on the topics and I can see you utilizing it as needed in the future.
Sad to hear about Cleveland Golf. I realize it’s part of the business, but the guys we met were really cool. I hope that all of those displaced are picked up soon. I also hope that the changes were part of a well thought out plan and not from a desire to “just do something”.
Grandura was a surprise. I knew that THPers had early access last year and that the launch wasn’t until early 2016. The technology sounded really interesting.
I think Toulon Design will be around for the long haul. Starting small, developing a tour presence and getting into the hands of people via box stores and green grass establishments will be successful for them.
I’ve only watched a few Callaway Live episodes but the fact that they seem to be more polished this season, to me at least, is expected. I might be jaded, but Callaway sets the example when it comes to golf related social media even when it’s “outside the box”.
I had no idea what was happening at Cleveland Golf – although I cannot say I am surprised re: shaking up the industry a little bit, especially from one of the companies that seems to have lost market share recently.
