Hitting mats come in all shapes and sizes and as more golfers start to practice at home, the search for a quality product has never been more in demand. Ranging in price from less than $100 to several thousand, it is hard to figure out what is quality and what leaves a bit to be desired. This is where the Monster Mat steps in and is designed to offer a quality piece of equipment at a price that won’t break the bank.
After numerous requests by readers to give it a test, we had one sent to the THP Tech Studio, did some rearranging and gave it a spin. In the video below, we walk you through some of the basics as well as take a few swings and explain the feel through impact. After all, that is the most important aspect to any hitting mat.
Made in the USA, the Monster Mat features a 1 1/8″ Z-Pro fiber fortified hitting surface and comes in a 5’x5′ square that really gives you plenty of space for practice. The cost for the package shipped to your door? Under $400 delivered.
Have you been searching for the perfect mat to up your practice at home?

Not going to be a big fan of this mat I’m afraid. Feel of strike is good. Couple issues I’m seeing are shedding and the fact that after only a couple weeks we are starting to see and feel an indention where our feet are.

Interesting. We saw the shedding as we showed in the video, but haven’t seen the indention. That’s not good

If you can find a local dealer, Synthetic Turf International EZ Tee Hybrid has been well regarded

Just like you I like the feel of the strike as it feels much like a natural strike in the turf, but the shedding is horrible. I have had bad issues with mine and they kept stating they was going to do something about it because the manufacturer had used the wrong material in the run of mats that mine came from. The only way it won’t shed is to dampen it some before you use it.
They said they would let me ship it back and I finally told them don’t bother with it since they had not given me any support for so many months now and I had already bought a CCE mat so I could have something to use. Correspondence with them is poor and they seem to get the communication wires crossed. They even got my order mixed up with an 8000.00 dollar order, but at least they called to make sure about shipping and I said I did not order 8 grand worth of Monster Mats.
This went on since last November. I have a chain of emails with them that they apparently don’t know how to read because when they respond you wonder what they are responding to. When you talk to them they are nice and work with you, but I won’t be buying another Monster Mat nor advising anyone to get one unless they can prove they have fixed their issues.

They told my buddy that this one came from the new roll. Not impressed.
