Everyone who has played golf, or has been bitten by the golf bug knows the following statement to be true; Golf is hard. Luckily for us amateur golfers, if you want to make the game a little easier options exist to assist with that. One of those options is GOLFTEC, and If you have ever sought out lessons or game improvement, you have undoubtedly heard of them.
Known as a world leader in game improvement GOLFTEC has been around since 1995, given over 14 million lessons and currently has over 250 locations across the globe. You might not even realize it, but odds are you have a GOLFTEC location near you.
A few months ago we took 8 THP forum members, Adam Rank from the NFL Network, and a couple executives from GOLFTEC for an unforgettable experience to GrayBull Golf Club in Nebraska. We played golf, drafted fantasy football teams and had some fun which you can read all about here.
At the end of the experience, each participant was given a year long GOLFTEC improvement package with the purpose of not only improving their golf game, but sharing their experiences on the THP Forum along the way. Below you will find some quick thoughts about their time with GOLFTEC and their coach thus far.

I am still at the beginning of my lessons journey with Golftec. My coach Cole and I have made minor adjustments to my backswing and hip rotation. These adjustments are easy enough to practice so they can become muscle memory and help improve my swing. The video analysis has been a great tool to be able to review the lessons when practicing at home.

Taking lessons at GOLFTEC has significantly improved my game by zeroing in on the areas where I needed the most help. I’ve learned the key components of my swing, what to focus on, and how to diagnose issues on the course so I can make adjustments in real time. The video analysis and recorded lessons have been especially valuable, giving me the ability to revisit concepts and reinforce proper technique whenever I need it.
Working with GolfTEC hasn’t just delivered results, it shattered limits and turned lifelong goals into reality.

Not only has my game improved, but so has GOLFTEC since my first experience with them nearly a decade ago.
Long gone are the days of K-Vest and trying to get you to swing like a PGA Tour Player. GolfTEC is about YOUR swing, and making YOU a better player. As someone who has physical limitations in their swing, the experience working with my coach Nick Germann has been nothing short of revolutionary. We have deep-dived into the mechanics and feelings of my swing, and found ways that help me understand and feel improvement. From a lesson incorporating a drill to refine an aspect of the swing, to the practice sessions to ingrain it, the on-course results have shown a steep rise in the level of my play. Through a combination of my coach’s expertise, along with OptiMotion, the physical feelings and visual cues provide unique insight into a path of improvement, and a way to gamify it.

Working with GolfTEC hasn‘t just delivered results, it shattered limits and turned lifelong goals into reality. My handicap has dropped by three strokes, I’ve beaten my previous career low score multiple times, and—best of all—I finally broke par for the first time… And then I did it again.

GOLFTEC has been transformational for my golf game. I started playing golf recently and was stuck in a place that I wasn’t improving and getting more and more frustrated with my game. I turned to YouTube and online instruction, and though there were some improvements, I saw other areas of my game get worse. I knew I needed professional help.
Enter GOLFTEC, I started lessons about a year ago as a way to have focused improvement while also keeping my swing from getting rusty over the winter. GOLFTEC and my coach Nate Washington was exactly what the doctor ordered. Starting with a swing evaluation, I quickly began understanding why I was seeing misses and inconsistencies on the course. At GOLFTEC, they pride themselves on not only providing superior instruction with state-of-the-art equipment and methods, but also teaching the whys and hows behind their methods. For example, I used to be a slicer, and Nate helped me understand why I sliced the ball as well as how we were going to fix it. And less than 10 lessons in, I have seeing incredible improvements with the focused areas as well as other areas. Though I still have a lot of ways to grow and improve, I have never been more excited about golf and confident in my improvement!
GOLFTEC lessons have taken my game and understanding of my golf swing to the next level

The pairing of a talented human coach and leading edge technology makes for an experience that is both second-to-none and accessible to the masses. Optimotion technology tracks the users swing, delivering numerous data points and allows coaches to really show clients where they are, and where they want to go.
Coaching focuses on small changes that can have immediate positive effects and also are iterative from lesson to lesson. Each lesson focuses on one small tweak that builds on the previous lesson as to not overwhelm the client with information. GOLFTEC does an amazing job of delivering an easy to use app and website experience which includes before and after swings, coach analysis, drills, and homework. Access to your lesson distilled into a few minutes and recommended drills makes practice targeted leading to faster gains.

Through only a few months with GOLFTEC I have increased clubhead speed by more than 5mph and I have dropped my handicap from 21 to 15! Small changes leading to enormous gains on the course.

Working with GOLFTEC and my coach Jordan Thomas, has honestly been a game changer for me. What I appreciate most is how the adjustments we make are small, focused, and never overwhelming but the results are massive. Jordan explains things in a way that immediately makes sense, and the way he pairs feel with the real on OptiMotion has helped me understand my swing on a completely different level. Every lesson builds on the last, and the changes transfer to the course way faster than I expected. My confidence has climbed every week, and for the first time I feel like I’m building a swing I can trust on any shot.

The comparison photos really capture my progress. My original swing from my evaluation is first and my most recent swing lesson is the second set. Being able to see my positions instead of guessing has helped everything click through the setup, takeaway, transition, and now the wedge game. Jordan has this way of targeting one specific move, and somehow that one thing fixes three others I didn’t even realize were connected. Those small adjustments have turned my old pull-hook miss into a playable draw, cleaned up my low point with the wedges, and given me a level of consistency I haven’t had before. Seeing the work translate so quickly on the course has been addicting, and it’s made the whole experience with GOLFTEC even better than I imagined it would be.

My key takeaway right now from the GOLFTEC lessons is how immensely valuable their Optimotion software is, tracking angles I did not know existed, and measuring them against the best of the best to see if I am within the right window. It is one thing to ask someone to bend a body part, and another entirely to have them see the difference between 3 and 15 degrees. It is also massively beneficial in practice to have your coach set angle goals that you can hammer home on your time, receiving instant feedback from video you can control.
My desire with GOLFTEC is to improve what I consider to be a relatively solid move. Mitch at the Cincinnati location has given me a lot of optimism that we can find that path together over the course of the next year, and I plan to really commit to every piece of feedback I receive.

As a lower single digit handicap I wasn’t sure what GOLFTEC could do for me. I’ve taken random lessons from teaching pros before and always been left wanting. Nothing ever really changed in my game and I have been stuck for several years at the same level. This year I decided that was no longer good enough, it was time for a change. When I went for my Swing Evaluation, I was a bit skeptical but it turned out I connected with my coach Justin pretty well.

I’ve been going to GOLFTEC for about 6 months now. Using Optimotion software I’ve learned what positions I should be in for optimal performance. Seeing that on screen combined with the video, analysis and drills from my coach have been extremely helpful. We’ve made subtle tweaks to my swing, added a few shots to the arsenal and I’m more aware of what is happening and most importantly, why. While my handicap still hasn’t dropped, changes don’t happen overnight. I’ve learned so much in short time, and with a practice plan in place I have no doubts it’s coming soon.
While this wraps up their initial thoughts and review of GOLFTEC so far, our forum members above will continue to share their thoughts on the THP Forums throughout their GOLFTEC journey which you can find here.

Good to hear they were happy with the program.
Might be something to consider.
Why are all the pix so dark? Something to do with the optithing?
Great article, really cool side by side pictures of the guys and good insight for someone like me who is real tempted to jump in to something like this.
Also, kudos to posting this at 5am local lol
Great wrap up! Very cool to see the progress each person has made since starting. The GOLFTEC Experience is always a big one just because of how much these lessons can change your golfing life!
Really cool seeing the progress side by side in this one
Awesome article @jdtox ! The side by side comparisons really illustrate how in a few short months big changes can happen
GolfTec is in my future. Seeing THPers change their games with a little dedication is amazing and I want that kind of improvement with my game.
Really well done. Love all the video feedback and instant corrections. Just makes sense to my brain.
Pretty sure I’d pull the trigger if there was one closer than 90 minutes away. If they could ever incorporate this into virtual lessons that would be really intriguing.

The lighting in my studio is ok but not great. Much easier to see the screens and data when you’re in the there vs looking at it in the app

Lighting needs to be relatively low for the projector and the cameras are more for gathering data than getting stills. Since these are paused video as well it degrades quality compared to a single still frame shot. The video is clear enough on the screen to see what’s important though!
Great article. It has been a blast to participate in this (staying with it through at least next year), as well as to see the progress of those who also are going through it!
Went to Golftec a little of a year ago and would say it was an overall positive experience. My biggest complaint is the package they sell. Your lessons must be used within a window of time or they are simply taken away. After paying thousands of dollars to lose lessons because they want them used within a 6 month window is ridiculous. You are at the mercy of picking available times based on the availability of your location. Busy location = less open windows to choose and you may end up either going at times that don’t work or having to spread out sessions. Not a fan at all and wish they let you use them at your convenience as it’s not cheap. Also, this was not pointed out to me at all until weeks into the lessons when I say my end date on the app.
This is really cool to see. The amount of success seen by those taking lessons is impressive. Being able to see what is happening with OptiMotion seems like such a cool and valuable tool. Thanks for the write up and great job to all.
Love reading about all of the progress made!!!
Golftec is a game changer for so many people.

Utilizing the 90 minutes of practice each week is really nice; especially during your off season.
I try to book a 30 min practice session immediately after a lesson to go over stuff while it fresh. Then I’ll book a 60 min practice session for a later date that week for the drills and tips in the previous lessons.
