By now, most people have heard of Theragun and their various percussive therapy devices which have grown exponentially in popularity over the past few years. What might be lesser known is that they also have a line called TheraOne, which are CBD based topical and ingestible products for all your aches, pains, and even sleep needs. Over the past several months I have had the opportunity to try all these products, and I will say, they have turned this CBD skeptic into a believer.
It seems like CBD has been all the rage for a while now, and usually when that happens the market gets flooded and it becomes hard to know what is real and trustworthy, and what is a fly-by-night, ride the wave, or any other cliché company just mass-producing garbage to make a quick buck. So needless to say, I was tentative when it came to all things CBD…until I tried the TheraOne products by Theragun.
They have five CBD based products: Sleep CBD Tincture, Activate CBD Lotion, Recover CBD Lotion, Revive CBD Body Balm (Stick or Jar), and Soothe CBD Massage Oil. As mentioned, I have tried all five, and after several months, am still using all of them. Of all the products, Sleep is my absolute favorite, so below I will go into great detail about that one, but also touch on the other products.
Sleep CBD Tincture
From the company: “Discover the perfect recipe for a good night’s sleep with our high-potency CBD sleep tincture. It’s scientifically formulated with USDA Certified Organic CBD and an all-natural blend of chamomile oil, lavender oil, and valerian root extract to encourage deeper, more restorative sleep.”
I am someone who has never been a good sleeper. I struggle to fall asleep, and especially stay asleep because my mind likes to move a million miles a minute thinking about everything and anything that could possibly be stressful in my life. I have tried many different melatonin products with varying degrees of success, but only in the falling asleep part, none of them have ever helped me stay asleep, or be able to peacefully fall back to sleep before my mind takes over and the roller coaster of thoughts start happening.
This is where the Sleep CBD really shined. Not only does it help me ease into sleep, but when I wake up in the middle of the night, my mind is quiet, and I am able to go right back to bed. No words can truly express what this means to me. Having my mind calm and quiet and being able to wake up at 2am and be back dreaming by 2:05am rather than still being awake at 4am thinking about complete nonsense that serves absolutely no positive purpose in my life is truly worth every penny.
As I mentioned above, this product will help make you tired, but it won’t knock you out like a PM medicine. It’s subtle and relaxing and your body just does what it naturally will do. Upon waking in the morning, you will not feel groggy or like your head is in a fog, there is no medicine hangover at all. The only thing I have noticed that some people might not like is that my dreams are more vivid. I know not everyone remembers their dreams, but I am someone who always has, and since taking Sleep they seem vivid and real. Not a bad thing, just an observation.
Regarding the taste experience, I won’t sugar coat it, it’s not great. While the actual taste isn’t terrible, it leaves an oily texture in your mouth that will take some getting used to. It honestly feels like you are taking a shot of olive oil. I have found that if I chug water directly after, it helps a ton with that feeling in my mouth. That’s really the only complaint I have, and honestly, the water has made it so much better. Plus, no amount of oily feeling in my mouth is a bother if it means falling back to sleep in the middle of the night like I do now thanks to this product.
A bottle of Sleep is $80 and depending on how often you use it and how much you fill the dropper, will last at least a month, and for most people even more.
Activate CBD Lotion, Recover CBD Lotion, Revive CBD Body Balm (Stick or Jar), and Soothe CBD Massage Oil
I try to work out at least five days a week, and as I get older, these workouts take a toll on my body. On top of that, I have two herniated discs in my back (L4 and L5) which have been a problem for me for decades. Needless to say, I have some real daily aches and pains.
When I received the various TheraOne CBD products I tried each one for a period of time, and eventually found a routine with them that has made a world of difference in my daily activity and recovery. I try to work out in the mornings, and Ithe Activate CBD Lotion is kept in my home gym where it’s the first thing I put on before my workout. I have my usual problem areas, especially my back, and I will rub that in before I start my warmup.
Without a shadow of a doubt, this has made a world of difference in my performance in the gym. It has really helped relax my muscles and allow me to get a better workout in, with far less discomfort then in the past. I do want to point out that it has a strong menthol-like smell, so be prepared for that throughout your workout, though personally it doesn’t bother me at all. The Activate CBD Lotion is $49, and I am still on the same bottle after several months of constant use.
After my workout is when I use the Recover CBD Lotion. To me, it has the same scent as the Activate, so I basically smell all day, but I feel great, so I don’t care. Both lotions absorb into the skin quickly and easily with no residual oily residue on your skin. Normally post-workout I will focus on areas I worked the hardest that day, like my hamstrings, shoulders, quads, etc. and I feel like my recovery time/soreness has been shortened. The Recover CBD Lotion is $49, and just like the Activate, I am still using the same bottle after several months.
Lastly, we have the Revive CBD Body Balm and the Sooth CBD Massage Oil. I keep the Revive CBD Body Balm Stick at my desk at work, and when I’m feeling a little achy or uncomfortable after being in front of a computer all day, I will rub this on my problem areas. I think this has the same scent as the Activate and Recover, but I find that the smell dissipates rather quickly while the relief remains. I really love the roll-on stick, it’s super convenient, and keeps my hands clean while sitting at my desk. The Revive CBD Body Balm Stick comes in two sizes, 1.67oz for $75 (that is the one I have) and 0.47 oz for $29. They also offer it in a 10z Jar for $65. The 1.67 oz stick has lasted me several months and still going strong.
The Sooth CBD Massage Oil has found its way into my nighttime routine before bed. On evenings when I am particularly sore or achy, I will use this (along with my Sleep of course) before bed. Not only is it soothing, but I find the scents at night rather relaxing. A 4oz bottle of the Soothe CBD Massage Oil is $65, and just like all the other products mentioned, after several months I am still using the same bottle.
I never thought I would be a believer in CBD products, but TheraOne by Theragun has really changed my feelings. With all their products using USDA Certified Organic CBD, and tried and true essential oils, and being a trusted brand with their Theragun products, I was willing to give them a try, and I am so glad that I have, because they have made such a difference in my daily life. I don’t know if this will be for everyone, but if you have ever thought about trying a CBD based product, or simply have aches and pains, I think it’s worth giving them a try. You can learn more about all these products on the Theragun website www.theragun.com.
Have you tried the TheraOne products? If so, we would love to hear from you. In the comments below, let us know your thoughts.
Hmmm, I think some of these products would have been helpful to this old guy about 3 or so days ago! I’ll have to take a closer look at some of them – though, as you said the sleep may take me a while to buy and try. I have trouble with certain tastes and things – wonder what would happen if added to a cup of tea?
Thanks for the great review on the various products GG. May have to order a bottle of the Sleep for my wife as that is a definite problem area for her.
I will be ordering some today. I have the same can’t turn off the brain condition as @GolferGal, so hopefully it works like a charm!
I hope it works for you. It has honestly been a saving grace for me.
I’ve used another CBD product for my aches and pains and can attest to their medicinal advantages.
It’s worth a try.
SLEEP is on the way … thanks for the heads up!

major disclaimer with all of these is they still have THC even if it should be trace amounts, be careful if you might incur stringent testing at some point.
studies on cbd for sleep are pretty inconclusive to this point, and my observations mirror that.
several other "natural" sleep aids are included in the sleep mix as well, which don’t lead to the $80 price if someone wanted to try those.
From time to time, they have a BOGO offer, which would effectively bring the price down to where you want it. Just sign up for the emails and be a bit patient, I am sure one will pop up soon.
A few months ago I was tapped to try the Activate lotion, and I loved it. As part of that review, I put a nickel to quarter size amount of the Activate lotion on my shoulder, arm or hand once a day for two weeks. At the end of weeks one and two, I took an at home THC test and both came out negative. As a control, I had a friend use a test to confirm the tests I bought worked, and it came back positive, as expected. So for the casual test, I don’t think the lotions will yield a positive result.
these shouldn’t yield a positive at the amount that is supposed to be in there, even for normal blood tests. the theraone stuff has their testing on the website which provides a bit of reassurance but it’s still all unregulated.
I love the sticks, and I continue to think they work. Perhaps more impressively, my wife who has a PHD in exercise physiology and is a professional trainer/dance instructor also thinks it works, and uses it for various aches and pains. My only complaint about the Revive stick is that it does not dry like the Activate lotion, and stays a bit greasy wherever it is applied. It didn’t bother me until I put it on the back of my hand last weekend before I played golf, and I had to wipe it off before the round.
I have loved the products I have tried so far. I do think that the price is on the high side of what I would pay, but its value would be up to the individual user. I think the two sticks I have will last me a really long while, but the lotion would run our a bit quicker.
It’s a totally fair point. I would be more inclined to trust Therabody than "Jim’s CBD Surprise Cream" that I could buy at the local head shop, but at the end of the day is all self-regulated. I went through the exercise because although I am not drug tested for work, a lot of members on here are and it was a common concern.
I do the recommended one full dropper.
That is some pretty serious endorsing on the Sleep. Your description of your sleep habits is eerily similar to my wife’s. I’m going to show her this thread. Great writeup!
Like I mentioned, I haven’t used it every single round but I’ve been on the same bottle since I got it a few months ago. I use about a quarter size squirt on my lower back and then another nickel or quarter squirt on each leg if I’m really feeling sore that morning. Besides the days I forget because I’m rushed or I’m too tired to remember, it’s been a staple of my morning golf routine and I will be getting more when I run out.
I purchased during a BOGO sale they had and got a bottle of Revive as well. Haven’t used that as much since it’s become property of my fiancee. She swears by it and uses it alllllll the time. Still on the same bottle of that as well so you definitely get your money’s worth. The times I have used it, it’s like a less intense Icy-Hot with the same kind of relief. I however love the intense feeling of Icy-Hot so I do wish the Revive was a little stronger but that’s a small criticism from me.
These products are for sure winners in my book!
I’m on the fence on CBD, and had a great chat with my doctor about it a couple weeks ago, but I definitely lean on the "can’t hurt if it doesn’t hurt" side of things. I’ve used gummies, creams, and balms to aid in pains and while the menthol (seems like a common trend) or mint profile might not be the most desirable smell, I do love that it feels like it’s activating.
Long story short, I’ve sort of stuck with what I started with, and I think seeing reviews like this will convince me to branch out in the future. I am really pleased to read that you’ve found some items that truly impact your day to day!!
I have a blown AC joint in my shoulder and it will tighten up after a day of work or play. it’s just a dull ache at night with periods of “oh, wow that really hurts “ if I roll over on it a certain way at night.
Don’t know if it’s in my head but it the Activate seems to keep things a bit looser and less bothersome in the pain dept. if it’s in my head…. I’m fine with that too. I plan to keep using it.
Now…. To get some of the Sleep for my wife as she’s also struggling to stay asleep these days….
Thanks again for the review!
Eventually over time I hope these CBD products get less costly as they become more adopted in the marketplace. Have heard good reports from reviewers on various CBD products.

Let us know how it works for you?
Will do. Hopefully, I will oversleep and be late logging on to THP tomorrow morning.
I hope you have as much luck as I have. Definitely report back and let us know.
Thanks, GG. My sleep is so messed up that I use a Sleep Cycle app to analyze what does or doesn’t seem to affect my sleep. I’m looking forward to seeing stats from the next two weeks using the Sleep tincture vs. the past two weeks without it.
1. My Sleep Cycle app shows that I’m spending more time in "deep sleep." Still not as much time there as I’d like, but, baby steps.
2. I’ve gotten out of bed only once during the night, all four nights. The norm is two or three times.
3. I hardly remember getting out of bed during the night and I go back to sleep rather quickly and easily. The norm is that I have to read myself back to sleep, usually THP forum or some other stress-free content to steer my mind of any worrisome thoughts. No reading required the past four nights!
4. The increase in "deep sleep" time has decreased my usual "tired" feeling in the morning. Instead of feeling more tired in the morning as I did at bedtime, I feel a bit more refreshed in the morning. That’s a big plus!
5. The taste/after-taste of the tincture was not so great the first two nights. The past two nights, I have followed the drops with a handful of grapes. Problem solved.
So far, very happy with the Sleep tincture.
From my personal experience I would say either the Recover or the Revive Body Balm.

AFTER:
So far, so good!
This has been my experience too, and it’s been pretty amazing.
That kinda, sorta describes my sleep pattern. I have no trouble falling asleep when I turn in, but eventually, at the age of 68, I will have to get up to pee! And I will toss and turn after going back to bed. I will doze off now and again, and sometimes sleep for an extended period. Two nights ago I had the craziest dream that lasted seemingly forever. Of course in the dream state, you have no idea of the actual passage of time.
Of course, I then have to wake up for the second pee of the night and will toss and turn after that. The real issue starts when we get a little gray light in the sky. That’s when I will crash and do some really hard sleeping! It’s like my body realizes that this is its last chance for some real rest that night!
Usually my third "call of nature" occurs at about the time I want to get up. Being retired, I don’t have to set an alarm anymore, but I do try to wake up at about the same time every day.
In the past, I would always wake up two or three times per night and then have to read myself back to sleep (brain never stopped churning). Since taking the Sleep tincture, I’ve gotten up once each night and barely remember it because I was able to go back to sleep so quickly, without having to read anything.
Ordinarily, you’d think that such a sleep aid would leave you feeling groggy and kinda spaced out the next morning. But I haven’t felt that at all.

Thats awesome. Love to hear it.
Just the recommended 1 ml dosage.
Since I started using the Sleep tincture, my “sleep regularity” average has risen from 88 percent to 94 percent (even with an 85 lb. goldendoodle that sometimes decides in the middle of the night that our bed is his bed).
I’d say this stuff works for me. ?
As shown below, Sleep Cycle says my Deep Sleep to near Deep Sleep basically lasted four continuous hours last night – from around midnight to 4 a.m. I don’t know how accurate an iPhone app is in measuring these things but the point is, that’s a way better measurement than before using the tincture.
Historically, I’m in and out of sleep/deep sleep like a roller coaster and don’t recall ever seeing a four-hour flat-ish line like this.
Yes, I’ve ordered another bottle.
