THP Visits the Nike Golf Oven – Method Putters

Recently THP had the opportunity to visit a special R&D facility in Texas known as The Oven thanks to a wonderful invitation from Nike Golf. While there we got a wonderful education from the fine folks at Nike Golf on research and development, the products that they are working on, and the tour staff that they have in place.

Over the last 12 months, most golf fans have had a chance to hear about and see the Nike Method putter and possibly even try it out like at our THP Golf Outing that took place in the Spring or the new Golf Outing and Demo Day that has been announced for the Fall.

The Method Putter has taken the golf world by storm thanks to its tour proven success with 2 major wins in its first year out on the PGA. While at the Oven, Nike Golf gave us some background and a true lesson on this new putter, why it works, and putting in general. We filmed that for all of our readers, so that for the 1st time they could experience what goes into the creation of a multiple major winning piece of equipment.

What’s amazing is that this is completely unscripted and they just randomly had a volunteer from our group go up there and try an old Nike putter and the new Method. What you will see in this video is that amazing reduction in skidding that the ball experiences when it rolls off the face. As explained in the video this reduction allows for a better roll on the ball and in turn a lot more stability allowing the ball to travel to the hole faster with less potential interruptions. We were lucky enough to test out all the different Method putter models and find one that was right for our game. I am a mid mallet girl so I instantly gravitated to the 005 model.

The technology used at Nike is really impressive and you can see it all in this video:
