New Segment debuted last week called 3 Minute Thursday and if you missed that episode, you can find it here. Each Thursday we bring you something fun, whether that be THP Event news, a new contest or a New Gear Alert with a twist of delivering it in 3 minutes and just to keep us honest, there is a clock on the screen.
Episode 2 is below and features a fun contest about a new putter that is coming soon that is aimed at making you become better on the greens. The TaylorMade Spider Interactive putter brings the shape and styling that many have enjoyed in the Spider line and adds an element from Blast to help you become a better player. How does it work? We went out to the Kingdom at TaylorMade HQ and had them walk us through it.
The new Spider Interactive comes out this week and each kit includes everything below for a cost of $399, but you can win one right now on THP by following the instructions below.
Do you think the Spider Interactive could help you be a better putter? Good news, we are giving one away right now. Follow the three simple steps below and you could win one right now.
1. Watch the 3 minute video above.
2. What part of Nick’s explanation of the device do you believe will help make you better?
3. Post that in the comments below.
That is it. Then sit back and wait for the announcement early next week in the THP Forum with who the lucky winner is.
Good luck everybody and we hope you enjoyed another edition of 3 Minute Thursday. If you like our weekly contests, make sure you share them across the social media platforms below and check back each day for more new exclusive THP content.
I love that it’s all about timing. by controlling your timing it doesn’t matter what kind of stroke you have but you control your timing and you will smooth out your stroke
Tempo has got to be the hardest thing to control, at least for me, when it comes to putting. I cannot maintain a constant one on short and long putts, and it gets me in trouble. Being able to see all of that data would help tremendously!
The temple aspect could really be a plus as I tend to too quick on short putts and have variable timing and or temple on longer putts.
Thank you for the video. Receiving instant feedback on swing mechanics, like tempo, would be invaluable to improving my putting stroke. It is so difficult to practice typically, and is built into this putter! Amazing
Anything that could help my putting out would be huge. Getting that feedback from my putter would be Awesome. My tempo is what I struggle with the most getting the info on that would help
Loving the blast sensor plug in part of this putter as well as the double bend hosel . Data driven practice time concerning Timing/ tempo on the back and thru stroke will improve my putting because it allows U to get the same timing / tempo numbers that thePGA Tour players repeat on all length putts. Once I repeat those numbers my putting has to improve because my mind. knows the stroke is correct.. No brainer to improve my putting , blast sensor is like having an expert putting coach in your pocket whenever I practice putting.
Getting feedback to help with tempo would be nice.
Timing 2:1 ratio would ve helpful as well as the other metrics
I think Nick’s explanation how you can almost instantaneously adjust your tempo for the optimum stroke. I know that I practice putting a lot before a round on weekends but I really don’t know if I am doing anything right or if just the luck of the draw that day. I believe the tool could really help to develop a consistent speed through proper tempo so you can better dial in speed and accuracy.
Help with my tempo would be awesome.
It was very interesting to hear a correlation between time and putter rotation. I still haven’t completely wrapped my head around the concept, length of stroke/amount of backstroke time and amount of rotation needs to be matched by a forward acceleration and rotation that is twice as fast. Definitely would be intriguing see how my putting stroke matches up and what results would be from this tech to use.
tempo is huge, but getting to see the rotation on the backswing would be huge for me as I tend to make too big of an arc. Very cool idea by TM to incorporate this tech into the putter.
Nicks description of timing ratio and how the best players in the world are all very close to that ratio. Tempo/smoothness of my putting stroke has always been a concern and having a tool that would provide real time feedback would help tremendously.
I love that finally something like this is coming out! This will tremendously help my consistency with my putting stroke. I feel like I’m so close but this will definitely get me to where I should be.. So excited!!!
Tempo is a huge factor for me as I will sometimes rush my back stroke which tends to cause me to slow down on the follow through and push the ball to the right. I have always loved the Spider putter and the roll it puts on a ball. The Blast add on would be a super add on to an already fantastic putter. Would love to game it and report back to how it does for me.
Stroke tempo is a great metric to help improve more putting stroke consistency. Would love to own one of these spiders to support an improved stroke and to make practice time more efficient and effective.
Thank you,

Instant feedback
Having advanced putting metrics in general is huge but the tempo feature is probably the most important as I tend to get a little stabby at the ball. Very cool piece of kit there.
Timing is my last hope as I am a 3 putt king who has tried everything putting tips and all kinds of putters.
This may be my last hope…….Please help!!!!!!
Tempo is something that an instructor changed my grip and setup to improve. While this has worked (to a degree) he moved me away from the Spider putter which was so deadly accurate for me. I would love to see the tempo feedback in real time to work on improving this.
The info provided is awesome! Ratio is one thing and I have problems with that a lot when comparing good days and bad days looking back. Being able to hear is cool but seeing the data after each stroke could be huge. I’m liking what I was seeing in this video! Diamond Silver if I understood it correctly is cool. Not cool…really cool. Timing IS everything!
Very very cool that it is instant feedback for work on the putting green to get a feel for tempo and rotation so you can see the actual vs desired number. Too often the putting green is just make or miss of putts especially if it’s busy out there and tough to get a true flat spot to work on these basics as it’s usually an uphill or downhiller that will shift your tempo.
I think seeing how the ratio of the timing of the stroke effects all the different metrics of the stroke would really help me see how important tempo is in the putting stroke. Really cool device! Thanks!!!
My putting is rough. I feel like data can help identify the things I’m actually struggling with. At the end of the any help can only make me better. Would love to put this in the bag.
I love the “amount of straight time feedback”. I think this would really keep me from overrotating the putter.
I think that the info on timing and tempo will be the biggest help for me.
I think the amount I open/close the face is pretty much ingrained over years of golf, but I had never really considered timing. I suppose trying to get that .6 ratio would be a goal to strive for.
all of those metrics will help my golf students
The measurement of swing tempo would definitely help improve my putting. I often feel I am too quick on downswing. With this sensor I could work on developing a better backswing/downswing ratio.
Mastering tempo sounds like a great way to become a much more consistent putter!
It drives me nuts that my tempo on putts differs not only between rounds but also during rounds, slow back slow through, fast back slow through, you name it and I have done it. This would definitely help me become more consistent.
Instant feedback and being able to work on a strict tempo for putting can only lead to more consistency.
The feed back on tempo would be great for improving consistent speed and feel in my putting stroke. Cool tech.
Two things stand out about this video (and putter). One: the real-time feedback on your putting speed and stroke (to make quick adjustments AND to ’embed’ the good stroke habit, and two, the back swing-forward swing ratio aspect of a ‘good’ putting technique – that was news to me, and I can see how this putter could greatly assist consistently achieving the right ratio. Thanks!
