After the last few tournaments and notable pain, the signs were there that this could in fact be the case. Today it was confirmed by Tiger Woods himself that he would be missing the major tournament in Augusta, GA. Woods announced that he has undergone a procedure called a microdiscectomy for a pinched nerve.
Tiger Woods announced Tuesday that he has undergone a successful microdiscectomy for a pinched nerve that has been hurting him for several months. The surgery was performed Monday in Park City, Utah, by neurosurgeon Dr. Charles Rich and was successful, but Woods will be unable to play immediately and will require rest and full rehab for a few weeks.
Stay tuned to the THP Forum later this week for the Official Masters Thread & Major Contest.
It will be quite odd not to see him at Augusta.
Hopefully this is what it takes to get him back in contention.
He wasn’t going to win it anyway the way he is playing regardless of the bad back. He is not the same player as he was before mentally.
