While the new TSR drivers are sure to get the largest share of initial attention, make no mistake, Titleist knew they had their work cut out for them to take the immensely popular TSi fairways and improve upon them for this release as well.
How did they do it? By focusing on what they call the “Four F’s”, Flight, Feel, Form, and Forgiveness.
Say hello to the three new TSR fairway metals.
Titleist TSR Fairways
A major focus with this release was in trying to perfect the CG within each model, what Titleist ended up with is the lowest CG they have ever built into a fairway. By achieving this, they have created a higher launching clubhead which means more playable for golfers of all types.
This CG movement was of course done by removing and replacing weight elsewhere in the heads, to do that Titleist created what they are calling their “Open Hosel Construction”. Typically, a lot of weight is located in the hosel region of a design, Titleist has removed a significant portion of that by opening the hosel and moving that weight into specific locations depending on the clubhead in the lineup.
The TSR fairway release is made up of three different clubheads, but no, they are not the same as the drivers. Here, Titleist is introducing the TSR2, TSR2+, and TSR3 fairway metals.
Titleist TSR2 Fairway
The follow up to the incredibly successful TSi2 fairways, the TSR2 builds on that same foundation of easy launch, massive forgiveness, and impressive distance. This clubhead is the lowest CG of the three TSR fairway designs, in fact, Titleist is also calling it the lowest CG ever for an all-steel design. The TSR2 is a high-launch and mid-spin club which offers the company’s SureFit adapter for additional adjustability. Worth noting, like the TSR2 driver, gone is the grey finish which the TSi2 had as now the look blends with the whole lineup.
Loft Options: 15.0, 16.5, 18.0 RH/LH, 21.0 RH Only
Titleist TSR2+ Fairway
This one is going to turn some heads.
Listening to its Tour Staff, Titleist went to the design table and came back with an answer to their clamoring for a tee-biased fairway metal which could still be used off the deck. While it won’t be for everyone, this stronger lofted design fills a need in the TS family that is sure to excite many.
The TSR2+ has a larger overall profile than the TSR2, including a taller face. What it also offers over its sibling? More forgiveness. Due to its profile, this club features the deepest CG location of any Titleist fairway, that means maximizing long and straight. In all, it is a 13-degree rocket launcher. As is the case with the whole lineup, the SureFit adapter will also allow some fine-tuning.
Loft Options: 13.0 RH/LH
Titleist TSR3 Fairway
Finally, the TSR3, the precision instrument of the new TSR fairway metals. This head not only features the SureFit adapter, but also the new five-point Adjustable CG Track System which adds to the precision aspect. A mid-high launch and low-spin design, this is the players fairway that showcases not just power but workability for the demanding golfer. With a classic and sleek shape as well as a compact look at address, the TSR3 rounds out the lineup very well.
Loft Options: 15.0 and 16.5 RH/LH, 13.5 and 18.0 RH Only
The Details
Like the drivers, the TSR fairway metals will release on 9/23/2022 and feature the same wide-ranging, no upcharge and custom shafts. As standard, the lineup will offer Project X’s HZRDUS Red CB and HZRDUS Black 4G, as well as the Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei AV Blue with Xlink and Tensei 1K Black. More than that, for a $200.00 upcharge the Graphite Design Tour AD UB, Tour AD IZ, and Tour AD DI will also be available. Yes, there is a full catalog of other full upcharge shafts, but the Graphite Design “Premium” level option is quite cool to see. The TSR fairways will be priced at $349 for the standard options, and $549 for premium.

If you’re talking about #15, I had a very similar shot and result with my 16.5. I think it was more like 240 or so, and I put a great swing on it, carried about 230 and hit the uphill and didn’t quite make it. Led to a fairly easy pitch leading to birdie.
That was one of my favorite shots of the whole event right there. And the TSR2 made it possible – I certainly didn’t have this level of confidence in my previous 3W.
What did you order? I feel like you and I are generally looking for somewhat similar characteristics.
TSR2+ Hzrdous Smoke Black 60 5.5
That sounds awesome.
I really haven’t hit this enough to have a good feel for it yet, though.

How is the ball flight working for you? Yeah you should more of a pattern towards the middle, and the B1 setting is the flattest without changing loft.
No need to to ponder, go get it
Oh I see what you meant, just bringing it down a little bit, not to stock or flatter.
Definitely looks to me like you need to go flatter. Are you noticing too much left movement out of the ball?
That shot was absolutely awesome to see man. I’m in the same 16.5 with 1K Black, but a TSR2 and stiff instead of X. It’s so good, and is responsible for a few really memorable shots – including leading to one of my two birdies at Ballyhack and the only one in "regulation".
Yes, this. The fitter went with A-2 to get the most draw bias for my overly out-to-in swing.
I don’t have a good feel for the flight, yet, but it was gently fading like the driver on the better strikes.
(SS/BS/Smash/Carry)
102/142/1.39/242
103/140/1.36/238
102/142/1.39/243
103/141/1.37/240
104/143/1.37/244
As with driver, I think the ball speed numbers/ smash are slightly understated (again based on what I was seeing on Trackman in the fitting), but the carry numbers seem about right for what I was seeing on course and slot pretty much right into exactly what I was looking for out of this club gap wise – my hybrid is 210-220 and my driver is 260-270.
I really think this 16.5 is gonna be a heck of a weapon for me!
But, I’m gonna get another round in this morning first.
I will say though, those I played with at the Titleist Experience saw what it can be for me on both 5 and especially 11 tee boxes, just absolute ropes, DEEP, high, ropes.
It’s so freaking nice to be back in a head that I’m confident with in this spot, it’s and important spot of the bag for how I play.
I like your description of the solid feel. I know exactly what you mean, it just feels like there is no wasted energy and you are absolutely driving every bit of the energy into that ball launching off the face. It’s quite frankly addicting.
Definitely. When you hit it well it just feels absolutely crushed. I haven’t been able to tell if it gets more lift than my old three wood but it just feels like a more piercing flight. I feel like that could be a possible go to club on the tee box in the future. It’s rare you could describe a three wood as in control but it really feels like you can control its flight and direction which can’t be said for three woods often.
I hit absolute piss missiles off the deck yesterday, and just TOWERING shots off the tee.
What does "left movement" mean?
Everything peels right for me, so far; just depends how far my swing path starts it left as to where it ends up.
I might need to play a 3W after all this winter. Being able to work these specific shots with the 2 like this at will with easy swings is just stupid. I’ll find an excuse to use it. And with the 1K Black its a little right biased for me, which is basically unheard of. I don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to go all out and smash the crap out of it.
It’s funny you say piercing. I just got done at the range and was smoking the 16.5. I have it set on D1, so delofted .75* and was hitting very far moon shots off the deck and off the tee. It is great through because it can hold the green so much better now. If I do need to have a lower piercing flight it’s very easy to be able to flight it down with minimal loss of distance. I don’t remember loving a fairway so fast and so much as this one.
Oh and wanted to mention that my fairway percentage on tee shots with it was 75% at Ballyhack across 2 rounds… Small data set but I’ll still take that
I haven’t hit much of the 3, since the 2 was a clear winner at my fitting pretty quickly, but I know the 2 launches a little higher and spins a little more. Probably slightly less forgiving, but if anything like the driver it’s not much, and it’s more about what kind of spin and launch window do you need to hit.
Don’t love the way it looks at address. Face lines, and it sits a bit closed to me, which is odd because the 3 and 3+ don’t. Can put the 15* in B1 and it looks really good. Something to do with the way the added loft shapes the face in relation to the hosel maybe.
Prefer the 3.
I’m pretty addicted to this one. Shape wise at setup, it’s a killer imo. Slightly bigger footprint but the shape truly flows making it not appear bulbous or awkward. Instead, it’s pretty ideal for one who seeks out this type of club.
I also fear that it having 13.0 on it will prevent people who should try it, from trying it. This does NOT require the effort of other strong 3 woods I have played in the last year including Cobra and Callaway. It wants to get up fast.
The biggest thing which still sticks in my head from the deck is from my fitting, I was told to take a little turf with it and it unlocked the world. It wants to be swing aggressively there, not babied and swept. That said, when I want that flat bullet from the grass, I shallow the swing out and use a little sweep to accomplish that. It’s versatile in that way.

Stephanie sent a whole new head just to make sure!! I loved hitting the one that might not have been perfect.. Can’t wait to go smash this one!!
That is fantastic!!
Yup.. I’m full on fanboy now.
Tonight, I hit the best one yet — it even had a little draw on it, which is a fleeting occurrence for me. This is almost an ideal result off the tee for me on this hole, as it is a tight chute for a fader with backyards in play if you go too far right beyond the cart path:

If I can start to hit little draws with this club…
There was also a vicious pull that was not the fault of the club, obviously. Consistency has been lacking for me with this club, so far.
Off the tee it performed very well. A nice little draw with a piercing trajectory that cut the wind. My miss was heel side on a couple and I still got decent distance with a good amount of rollout.
Out of the rough both shots were pretty good. This isn’t going to cut through the right like a hybrid or long iron of course but I was able to get the ball popped out pretty well. My first one went just slightly less then what I would expect from off the fairway.
For anyone using the TSR2 fairway wood, what is your thought on the sound? There were a couple of shots where it almost had a hollow sound to it. The others all felt and sounded great but a couple just had a different tone to them.
I’ve got the 2+, but, it’s unique. Different than the TSi2 I played for a bit, for sure.
That said, I enjoy it. And I MASH it hahaha
This is awesome. Well done Steph and Titleist crew!!
Yup… I’m blown away.
I have same club w/ same reaction
Mine is a TSR2 but right there with you guys. It is a rocket launcher and reminds me fondly of my old 910F 17* with an ‘ahina 70 in it, except way faster and more forgiving.
I loved the 910 lineup, definitely one of my favorites
That’s some A++++ customer service.
I love my TSR3 wood. Like the launch is pretty high but I don’t feel like I lose distance. Ballyhack I had 262 and 255 distances the first day. Again I also feel like it’s controlled. Like I always really dreaded pulling my three wood before and now I step up with confidence. It’s a great feeling.
