Vokey is at it again with its newest WedgeWorks release coming in hot, and this one is definitely special. You might have read about the recent release of the L-Grind (here: Vokey WedgeWorks L-Grind Wedges – The Hackers Paradise) which is the brand bringing a design back into the fold through their WedgeWorks platform. This release, however, is different, it is an A+, quite literally.

Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks A+ Grind
For a while now, there has been a bit of buzz with the sighting of a new grind in the bags of some of the Titleist staffers on Tour, that is the A+. This one is an evolution of the A-Grind, which was designed from a collaboration between former U.S. Open Champion Geoff Ogilvy and Titleist Tour Representative, Aaron Dill.
That A-Grind was created based upon Ogilvy seeking out a wedge which moved through the turf faster than the recent L-Grind WedgeWorks release. For that, they essentially took the L-Grind and removed material which created a more smoothed-out sole which would meet less resistance entering and exiting the turf. Where the A+ was born is taking that concept and understanding that some golfers could benefit from more sole width and increased bounce.

So, Aaron Dill and company subbed out the L-Grind as the foundation and replaced it with an M-Grind, Bob Vokey’s favorite. From there, the same “ribbon” of material was removed which made the A-Grind, but here became the new A+. According to Dill:
“On Tour over the years, we started seeing some loyal M Grind players who were finding that sole to be a little too bouncy for their liking. A+ comes from taking their gamer M Grind and removing the ribbon from the center of the sole. Those players found the leading edge of the A+ sat a bit lower, and the wedge moved faster through the ground. That helped to unlock a bit more versatility for some based on how they deliver the club to the ball.”
So, at its root, the A+ Grind is an option for golfers who favor a smooth but fast feeling wedge, but utilize a more neutral AoA in a variety of turf conditions. The new WedgeWorks A+ is available now in 58 and 60 degree lofts (RH only) in Raw finish. Pricing starts at $225, with all the expected WedgeWorks add-ons and customizations available as well.

It’s basically a grey paint fill. I’ll get a pic in the light tomorrow.
So, the A+ is something.
I played three rounds on Friday and alternated this as well as the new Opus LW’s and it was fun to see three TOTALLY different grinds and some widths do three TOTALLY different things.
This was a ton of fun out of the bunker surprisingly, and greenside it’s what u hoped/expected. I struggled from 3/4 to full swings, but, that’s because I’ve not been playing or practicing, it wasn’t the wedge, so I’ll hold off verdict on that for now!
@Jman I know you’ve been knee deep in Opus testing, but any more feedback on the A+, especially in relation to something like the M it’s based on? Why would one be chosen over the other for example?
@Jman , just checking back. Is the 60A+ grind in the bag ?? How are you liking it from the sand?? Does it open up nice ? Trying to decide between this and the LBK and V.
It currently isn’t, but that’s mainly as I’m in the middle of testing Opus.
The A+ definitely checks that box of versatility for me, it’s a lot of fun out of the sand as it has enough bounce, but greenside versatility is really really good as well.
For me, this or the V would be the choice in that spot.
I think this is going to be my first club purchase of 2025. No sense doing it now as the season is virtually over but unless something else comes along before the start of next season, I want to try playing with a 60° and coming from a 58°M this seems like the ticket.
