Tomahawx Tees Review

Over the years I have seen my fair share of innovations. From square drivers and golf ball technology to every kind of golf training aid out there. You would think with all of these innovations, that we would all be scratch golfers by this point. One thing that we are seeing changes in dramatically over the last few years or so is “performance tees”. Every one of them claims to give you a boost in distance and control but rarely, if ever, do they deliver.

But in reality most of us will never see a difference playing a standard tee or a performance tee. In fact all I have ever wanted in a tee is to hold the ball until I take a crack at it. But two things have always irritated me about the conventional golf tees most of us use.

1. They break WAY to easily.

2. They can be impossible to get into the ground when it is “rock hard”.

Some of the so called “performance tees” address these issues mildly but are geared more towards grabbing people’s attention with the promises of longer and straighter drives. Then along came a company that really grabbed THP’s attention. They were going to be making tees that were geared towards the TWO PROBLEMS that we had previously addressed. Durability and hardness of ground factor. They are also “performance tees but we are going to focus on the issues that we currently have.

The Hackers Paradise contacted Tomahawx tees to see about checking them out and we were delighted when just a few short days later some samples arrived. They looked rather different but then again looks are not really what matters in the world of golf tees. The promises they make are nothing short of spectacular, and we had to see if they would hold up. This is the only golf tee I have ever seen or heard of that offers a lifetime guarantee. Tomahawx says they are impossible to break during a normal round of play, however if one does, they will replace it for you absolutely free of charge.

So off to the range we went. Myself and one other golfer. We were equipped with just two tees a piece. We each grabbed a large bag of range balls and went to town. The first thing we noticed at the range is that the bottom of these tees were a little sharp. So be carefull when inserting them into the ground. But the second thing we noticed is that they went into the ground like a warm knife into butter. It was a pleasant suprise to see that one of our two issues was very easily answered.

The second thing we were out there checking was durability. Tomahawx claims that these tees will never break. Well, I can report back that neither one of us broke a tee in 85 balls hit a piece. In fact neither tee even bent or became chipped.
When you hit the ball off the tee, it has a folding effect and the Tomahawx tee ends up in the ground face down right where it started. It was pretty neat, not having to look around the tee box for a tee after each shot.

Our only issue that ever came up was the fact that for par 3’s, there really is not a tee short enough for teeing up an iron or hybrid. Overall these tees surpassed our expectations and they will be in my bag from now on. One thing was baffling to the THP staff though. If a person only needs two tees for the rest of their golfing, how does Tomahawx expect to make it? Just a joke but possibly an issue. They can be purchased online at Tomahawx. The MSRP is $4.89 for a 4 pack and $2.49 for a 2 pack. They definitely made our “Must Buy” list if nothing else for convenience and durability. But they do have everything we look for to be something to tell our readers to try out. Good product, durable, needed, good price, and quality customer service. Last but not least, they do conform to USGA rules and regulations.

Till Next Time
