Toulon Golf is introducing its latest exclusive Small Batch release, inspired by this year’s US Open venue, Pinehurst. This limited edition release pays homage to the 1999 US Open and its champion.
The 1999 US Open is one of those tournaments that is looked back on as one of the most exhilarating finishes in championship history. The first time being played at Pinehurst culminated in a memorable Father’s Day Sunday showdown among players like Vijay Singh, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and the eventual champion, Payne Stewart, battling it out over the final nine holes to determine the winner of the 99th US Open.
Creating a putter with the Pinehurst name that pulls in the history of the winning putter from that ’99 US Open meant that the shaping had to be done right. Toulon wanted to keep everything in perfect proportions, meaning the top line, blade length, width, and shoulders had to be built in a way that would only work as a center-shafted putter. As it turns out, the biggest key to this design was finding a width and shape that perfectly blended with the hosel. For the Small Batch Pinehurst, the hosel is placed ever so slightly rearward, which gives a perfectly unobstructed view of the leading edge, making it easier to align. Judging by the images, the address view appears clean and simple, which was a primary focus during its creation.
The same meticulous attention to detail was spent on the back shoulders and cavity. Toulon reduced a significant amount of weight from the center and redistributed it to the toe and heel to enhance forgiveness. Meanwhile, the shoulders were shaped slightly concavely from the top to the back of the sole. Additionally, by increasing the blade length and width, the Small Batch Pinehurst has become one of the most forgiving designs Toulon Golf has created to date. This is quite an accomplishment, especially considering that most center-shafted putters generally suffer from low inertia.
One final tribute to the 1999 Champion is the design on the sole. As we all remember, Payne Stewart had a style infused with colors and a love of tartan patterns. Toulon pays homage by milling their own tartan pattern into the sole. A section of this tartan pattern has been filled with Creamy Yellow, Vintage Blue, and Vintage Orange paint fill.
Like other Small Batch releases, the Pinehurst is milled out of 904L stainless steel. This type of steel has a higher nickel and copper content than other stainless steel variants, which enhances the putter’s durability and finish quality. The elevated copper and nickel content also contributes to the exceptional feel found in Toulon’s Small Batch putter range.
The Pinehurst putter’s 904L Stainless Steel has a Midnight Blue PVD finish, which looks fantastic. Toulon uses a Fine Double Fly Cut with a Small Tuna Overmill for the face, adding an artistic flair and providing just the right amount of feedback for a pleasing feel. Each Pinehurst model has a stock head weight of 355 grams, 3° of loft, and a lie angle of 70°.
The Small Batch Pinehurst is available today and will be available on their website, www.ToulonGolf.com. Like other Small Batch releases, the Toulon Pinehurst will come with a premium price tag of $1,800.
Excited to read through your write up! Think this is one of my favorites they’ve done so far
Wow that looks great. They did a fantastic job on that one. I am normally turned off by center shafted putters but I would give that one a look. Let’s be honest though, it would probably never see a ball.
They sure know how to make a good looking putter
The bottom is so cool looking.

Not ordinarily a center shaft putter fan. But Toulon has a winner here, This one’s very nice.
A good looking putter, that’s for sure.

Yeah I love what they did here.
Nice writeup @ddec
The shoulders are sculpted really well and I’m pretty impressed with the look at address. Sole doesn’t do a ton for me, but I can see why people would love it.
I continue to be impressed with what Mr. Toulon and the crew are doing over there. It’s such a sleek and gorgeous looking design. Incorporating the pattern on the sole was a great touch, especially the coloring as a nod to Payne. They’re making some really special putters! Well done @ddec

I very much agree with this statement. I don’t see myself every moving to a center shaft putter but I do like the look of the hossel on this one.
Oh wow! Well done Toulon! Love the color, the tartan pattern, the homage to his putter. All of it. Very very cool.
I have gotten on the website a couple of times and it still is not available for purchase.
If I had the extra cash this would be a must have

Same here, but for some reason it seems to work aesthetically with the center shaft (to me).
Dang that is purdy.
Not that I’d be buying an $1,800 putter, and incredible craftsmanship aside, that really doesn’t do it for me.
While it’s not a shape that I prefer, i LOVE everything about this putter. This is really really well done.
on sale now. I kind of want one. But my wife would kill me.
Absolutely gorgeous.
Woe… this is gorgeous. Definitely my favorite to date, I need that lottery ticket to hit the mark.
I really like the putter that I have right now, but I put in an order. It may never get out of my office where I have a putting mat, but I always have loved center shafted putters and this is the most well done center shafted putter that I have ever seen personally.
Holy crap, what did I just do?! ? I feel totally sober, but I had three, maybe four beers at a thing I was at. Never would have bought a putter in this price range if I actually was sober!
But honestly, this thing is 100% made for me. Spot on perfect! I just hope it performs for me in practice too, not just in theory. I definitely want this in the bag and not as a display piece.
Plus it’s my first Toulon which is fun. Always been a fan, but never owned one.
Great looking putter!

I can’t believe that mine hasn’t shipped yet.

I don‘t really dig that style of bumper either but I still want to try it
Very nice looking putter – What is this ? Toe Hang – C/S Doesn’t tell me much- center shafted are typically thought of as face balanced.
I don’t think that is the case here-
I got on the Toulon website this morning and noticed that the Pinehursts are sold out. I also used the messaging app to ask if there is an estimated shipping date on the Pinehursts. The person messaging with me must have been Tony or Preston, because he indicated that his “dad” started using a Pinehurst a couple of weeks ago and can’t put it down, “something he didn’t expect.” He was super nice And indicated that the putters should ship tomorrow.
I mentioned to him that I was a fairly active member of THP and he said that they love their ”THP family,” and would love to do a THP event some day. I thought that was pretty cool.
This will be fun to get in hand. It would have to be almost magical for it to displace my current putter, but one never knows.
It is out for delivery.
That looks like a seemore and ping zing were alone in a room with someone’s Barry White and Marvin Gaye mix tape.
It does look real good though
This truly is one of the most beautiful putters that I have ever had in my hands. The workmanship is impeccable. Surprisingly for a center shaft, it is not face balanced. The feel off the face is very soft. I have no idea if I can putt with it. It would be difficult to beat what is in my bag (and all of the technology my current putter has), but I am going to give this a go tomorrow.

I was curious looking at the head on its own it looked like it should be toe hanging. But yeah the center shafting screams face balanced. I was wondering if the weights in the sole were asymmetrical and making it face balanced. And that is not the case

I always assumed that achieving face balance was one of the primary purposes for a center shafted putter. It will be interesting to see how it performs. I have rolled a few putts with it on my indoor practice mat and it seems great.
Apparently, Toulon produced 75 of these Pinehurst putters. Tomorrow when I play my weekend round, I will have one of seventy five putters and one of 500 iron sets. I will probably three putt and shank everything, LOL.
First round in the books. I would call it a decent putting round, certainly not on fire.
When hit in the sweet spot, this putter provides such an an extremely satisfying feel. It is soft and dense. I am not sure as to whether I can putt better with this PInehurst than my SeeMore, but I do not think that I have ever had a better looking and feeling putter out on the golf course than I did today.
The feel of this putter is so soft and dense. It really is incredible. I would dearly love to have it in the bag, but I can’t say that I am putting as well with it as a couple of other, much larger headed putters. Today, I worked on a claw grip, which I have used in the past. I am kind of psyched to give it a go.

Let us know how it goes!
I went through 5 putt reps with each of my 5 favorite putters, cycling through them three times. There is no question that this Pinehurst is the best feeling of them.
I putted ok with the Pinehurst today. No 3 putts. 32 putts total on a course with tough greens. Will continue to monitor because I didn’t feel quite as confident standing over the ball as I do with a couple of other putters. However, Shot Scope says that I was positive strokes gained, compared to a scratch index, which I am not.
