It is once again time to see just what Toulon Golf have got up their sleeves for their latest Small Batch release. Suffice it to say, we have seen them bring putters that are more like works of art each month for over a year now, but we have not seen anything quite like the new Palo Alto.

Obviously, by now we all know that each Toulon Small Batch design tips its cap to a region of the world, but it always has a deeper meaning behind it. The new Palo Alto takes that to a whole new level with its homage being to Bob Rosburg, an innovator in golf both on the course with six wins and one Major Championship (1959 PGA), and off of it with his penchant for tinkering with his own equipment.

Not only did he tinker, but he also designed, and Mr. Rosburg was one of the early supporters of the mallet putter. His most popular club design? We know it today as The Rossie. Arguably one of the most unique mallet putter shapes on the planet, it is also one of the most successful with multiple Major Championships to its lineage, and now known for being the shape of choice for Jon Rahm.

The Palo Alto gets its name from Mr. Rosburg’s roots back to Stanford University where he played collegiately, but also because that part of the United States remains an area where innovation still thrives today. The shape is Toulon Golf’s take on the legendary Rossie, it is constructed from a combination of 904L Stainless Steel and 7075 Aluminum for the sole. Due to the size of the shape, the multi-material construction was critical in blending the performance with maximum forgiveness the Rossie is known for.

In the Small Batch Palo Alto, the CG has been moved forward in the head helping to provide a more efficient initial roll while still utilizing the natural MOI of the head shape for added stability. Toulon Golf has paired it with their H5 mini-slant neck and that has given the putter a toe-hang of 45-degrees, making it similar to a traditional blade. Another unique twist is that the face is somewhat deeper and uses a slightly “crowned” shape that allowed even more precision when it came to placing the CG of the Palo Alto.

Finished in the eye-catching Midnight Blue PVD, a black anodized sole plate showcases four Redwood trees that the area is known for, which allows the curvature of the Rossie shape to stand out like never before. Likewise, a single topline alignment feature ensures that visually, the shape gets its rightful showcase.
The Details
The Palo Alto officially releases today, 10/24/24 in extremely limited numbers and will be available on the Toulon website www.toulongolf.com in a first-come-first-serve basis. As has been the case with the other Small Batch releases, this work of putting art will be priced at a premium $1,800.

Oh this one looks good! The shape is one that I’ve not got along with in the past. One thing that takes down this from being five stars in looks is the spelling of “Toulon” on the back of the putter. Just looks elementary to me.
That thing is beautiful. Out of my price range but it looks like a work of art.
That is gorgeous
Oh wow, that looks amazing! They continue to put out some really amazing looking putters.
Looks amazing!
Not sure I like the spaceship looking head, it’s just too bubbly for me.
The color and finish look amazing though
If I had $1500 to spend on a putter, I would buy this.
Been seeing the pics online for a few days now and this looks good, but not the price it is good. Lol
THis is undoubtedly the nicest version of this style club that I have ever seen, would play one (not at that price – that would be a wall hanger), in a heartbeat. Just a stunning rendition.
@Jman – another super write up, thanks,
I’m going to have to show insane levels of restraint today
The Rossie shape is a Putter Mt Rushmore head shape, but, it’s definitely not for everyone.
My first real putter was a Rossie. Over the years I moved away from the shape because you almost always see it with a double bend. The slant looks great. I love the deeper face. Love the milling. Pretty much everything. I’d rock the hell out of this.
I didn’t get it into the article, but these go live at 9am PST
I hated these when I first saw them, then over the course of many years I grew to love them, had an original Rossie (the larger one I think, vice the Rossie 2?) with the black stronomic insert, other than the Sam Snead Blue Ridge that came with my odd set around 1974/5? it was the oldest putter in the collection. When we moved I had to part with it – culling the herd as it were.
I will have to find something like this one at some point. It’s stunning.
wow. The rossie with the slant neck just looks oh so good. This one…oh yeah.

That’s what I’m saying. Ban double bends.

And the decision to go topline alignment an leave that flange clean, brilliant.

barf emoji ?
The only thing that I don’t love about this one is the Toulon on the back. It’s very plain to me
I have set an alarm.
I love their small batch releases, but most are shapes that I do not prefer. This one. I love this one serious ponder.

You’re going for it? ?
One of my more favorite ones he’s released.
Toulon is really making some impressive putters.
This is the best looking Rossie putter I’ve ever seen.
It seems like every release is the best looking version of that style I’ve ever seen.
This one is nice.
That one is not for me.

Fun fact, they put 8 to 9 months into each Small Batch design.
I really like this one and the story behind it

Beauty of a flat stick right here

They’ve always got a really cool backstory to each small batch release
beautiful. But, what is up with mallets and the plates on sole rather than the main material?
I get this one has graphics but just been noticing, some of the other brand circle T releases, its like custom but bolted on. Just wondering why they do this.
The Rossie is an all time shape. This might be the best looking one ever made. And once again Toulon absolutely crushed the storytelling.

They do it to keep the weight of the head in check.

I was kind of blown away reading the backstory on this one. One of my favorite putters growing up was The Rossie
These small batch releases are cool. Not the head shape I would normally buy, but I know these will sell out.
Wow, what a work of art!
The price is high and the name fits as Palo Alto is one of the most expensive housing markets in the US. The putter is a much better value than the Palo Alto real estate. 🙂

Is the midnight blue the best finish out there right now?
IMO, yes.
But I’ve got it on my Sea Island so I’ve seen it in hand haha
