Tour Edge has unveiled its all-new Template Series Putter line, introducing four new designs and modifying three shapes from the original Template Series. This lineup caters to various player preferences and needs, offering a combination of blades, semi-mallets, and mallets. The designs focus on optimizing the center of gravity and moment of inertia properties of each shape, maximizing performance on both on-center and off-center strikes.

The series derives its name from template golf holes in golf course architecture, initially introduced by Chicago native C.B. Macdonald. These templates were drawn from renowned courses like St. Andrews, Prestwick, and North Berwick, and Chicago Golf Club. The first 18-hole golf course in North America, designed by Macdonald, is located near Tour Edge’s headquarters. If you haven’t researched exactly what template holes are, it’s a fascinating subject. While we don’t have the space to explore it in detail here, the general idea that Macdonald had was that there were several classic hole layouts that provided a great balance of challenge and fairness to all levels of golfers. In many ways, these designs are the very fabric of classic golf course design.
Technology
Each Template putter in the series undergoes individual CNC milling and incorporates Micro-Groove face technology. This technology enhances the feel upon contact and reduces skidding off the face. In this new series, Micro-Grooves are 20% deeper and wider than the previous version, promoting immediate topspin and a more precise roll.

The putters are crafted from 304 Stainless Steel, known for its softness, providing excellent feedback at impact. The Silver PVD finish is bead blasted to eliminate glare, while the Black PVD finish offers a sleek matte appearance.
“The new Template putter series has taken leaps and bounds in the look and feel department,” said Tour Edge President and Master Club Designer David Glod. “This putter line is bringing together today’s technology with classic putter designs and perfectly blending the two, just like what Template golf holes are designed to do in course architecture.”

To aid in alignment, each putter design features Contrast Technology Alignment. The white-on-black color scheme enhances contrast, assisting golfers in precise aiming. All eight putter designs share a 71-degree lie angle and a 3-degree loft and come with a Lamkin Deep Etched Pistol grip. This grip, featuring Genesis Material, offers a softer feel and maximizes responsiveness. Its Deep-Etch design suits golfers with an arc or arc-to-straight putting style and various grip styles, including traditional, reverse overlap, and cross-handed.
Designs and Finishes
Seven head shapes, available in Black PVD and Silver PVD finishes, make up the Template Series: Alps, Biarritz, Eden, Maiden, Narrows, Punchbowl, and Valley.
Alps
The Alps putter stands out with its longer wings, turning it into a conventional mallet putter that boasts a higher Moment of Inertia (MOI). Its double bend hosel enhances accuracy, making it perfect for golfers who prefer a pendulum-like straight back and through putting stroke. The key feature of this design is its face-balanced stability, reducing face twisting during use.

Biarritz
The Biarritz putter embraces a high MOI mallet design, offering exceptional forgiveness. Its double bend face-balanced hosel is tailored for golfers who favor a pendulum-like straight back, straight through putting stroke. This design minimizes the rotation of the putter face throughout the stroke.

Eden
As the sole blade putter in the series, the Eden showcases a classic design with a plumber’s neck, catering to players who have an arced or straight putting stroke.

Maiden
The Maiden, a mid-mallet design, incorporates a forgiving plumber’s neck hosel that assists in squaring up the putter face. It complements golfers who prefer an arced or straight-style putting stroke, especially those prone to leaving the putter face open at impact.

Narrows
The Narrows is a winged mid-mallet design featuring a slant neck and mid-toe hang. It suits golfers with a slight arc in their putting stroke, where the closing angle on the forward stroke is moderate. This design compensates for tendencies to hit pulls, as the hands are naturally positioned in front of the ball.

Narrows CS
The Narrows CS model combines the winged mid-mallet design with a center shaft, creating an alignment-focused, face-balanced putter. It caters to players who align their eyes directly above the ball and execute a straight-back, straight-through putting stroke.

Punchbowl
The Punchbowl is a rounded full mallet putter designed for improved forgiveness and accuracy through its high MOI and plumber’s neck hosel. It’s an excellent choice for golfers with an arced or straight putting stroke, particularly those who tend to push putts to the right (right-handed golfers).

Valley
Similar to the Maiden, the Valley is a mid-mallet design with a forgiving plumber’s neck hosel. It’s well-suited for players with an arced or straight putting stroke, helping square the putter face, especially for those who struggle with keeping the face open at impact.

I like the naming convention quite a bit.
Love the naming convention and the price point hits home for a lot of THPers.
Tour Edge is killing it at the price point and there should be a shape for everyone here. The black/white color combo for alignment works in the Versa so I’m assuming it will work well here.
Good price point. Reminds me a lot of the Wilson Infinite line for some reason, which is not a bad thing IMO. With the black Contrast Technology Alignment, I much prefer the black finish over the silver.
That price!!!
The face milling looks interesting as well.
Perfect putters for that price point. Excellent option

Agreed – the Black PVD looks killer. Hopefully we’ll get these in-hand, because it’s a very strong looking series on paper.
Lots of options at such a budget price, and no inserts! I’m looking forward to getting an in hand look at these.
Hmm…. Yes the price is great, but for a club that isn’t changed very often, I’d rather pony up for something a little more inspiring. This will be a hit with a large portion of the golfing population I’m sure.
Like the naming of these putters. Looks wise, doesn’t really do it for me, but for the price point this could definitely be a great option for someone trying for some cost savings for entering the game.
I like what Tour Edge is doing here, and killing it at that price point. The Biarritz looks super fun, and with the price tag wouldnt mind picking one up.
The Maiden putter looks great. I like the alignment line being a bit wider but not over the top. These are solid looking putters and I love the notes on how they feel.
The Punchbowl would be my choice.
Love the names and REALLY like the price point.
I think TE could do well with these
The Biarritz looks like something I’d bag. Price point is really good. Not really putter shopping at the moment but you never know.
I love the price and the naming but looks wise they don’t hit the mark for me.
Seems like they went with simple proven designs, nothing too out there but also nothing real innovative. I like the naming and the price point is very nice. Really like seeing the Narrows CS. Solid looking lineup!
Limited left hand options. Not surprising. Great price point but I’m not looking to replace my putter. I was on maybe the 4th green at Dormie the first day. I’d considered going back to my Strokelab 1… but the second day it was proven that the putter was very functional. I sucked at putting.
I have a putter very, very similar to their Biarritz putter. I will have to check it when I get back home.
I like their pricing on these putters. I will most likely give a few of them a try when available.
I love the naming, the pricing is great, and it looks like they did a really nice job of glare management with both those finishes.
That is a solid price for a putter.
Alps, Maiden, Narrows and Punchbowl would all merit consideration. Punchbowl is a Rossie shape, which has been pretty high on my ponder list lately.
Tour Edge continues to hit the ball out of the park with one release after another!
Way to go!
Wow $129. Looking forward to seeing these in person at some point.
Maiden and a Narrows please.
Awesome to see so many options, especially at that pricepoint!
Like the names, like the looks (of some more than others) but the price is a real surprise. I would gladly give one some love to see how it played for me. Great article as well!!
Agree that the price is really nice. And they have one for my center shaft bias too. But my Cleveland HB Soft Milled isn’t going anywhere!!!
I took a couple stabs with a few models of the Template Series today. I’m very impressed. These seem to be really good quality for their price point. I liked the feel I was getting from the micro-groove insert. Alignment was easy. I preferred the silver finish to the black PVD. Two criticisms: 1- the putter feels a tad light. 2- the ball really jumped off the face. Took a little getting used to. My favorite shape surprisingly was the Biarritz.
I putted with these then hit a few with the Cleveland HB Soft putters. The Tour Edge was way softer in comparison. I liked the weight of the Cleveland putter better.
For the price point, these will be tough to beat in a sub-$130 category.

Anyone got some time in with these?
In search of an experiment mallety plumbers neck, the maiden and valley seem to fit the bill.

I want to say I reviewed the Valley? It’s been a while.
It was nice for the price and definitely something I’d say fits the role of experimenting with a new shape.
