Admittedly, Tour Edge likely won’t be among the first names you think of when it comes to tech forward putters, but they are trying to change that. When the brand brought their Wingman putters to retail in 2022 it showed their belief that they could innovate within the segment while also being at a highly competitive price point.
The Wingman 700 series of putters were met with positive overall feedback from both THP as well as our community of amateur golfers. However, no first effort is perfect and along with the positivity there were some constructive criticisms. Tour Edge took all of it in and went back to work until they had created the new Wingman 800 lineup.

The Story – Tour Edge Wingman 800 Series
Visually, the new Wingman 800 putters are not aimed at the traditionalist. Honestly, though some may disagree, this feels like a much more focused Tour Edge release. Rather than trying to offer something for everyone, be it shape or alignment, they appear to have committed to picking their lane and going all in on it. That is a respectable, and intelligent decision.
When it comes to shapes, the Wingman 800 line consists of three different looks that are available in two different shaft options to have both face-balanced and toe-hang variations for each. The heads are cast 304 Stainless Steel which are face milled to implement the proprietary new “W Precision Milled Face” that looks not only to improve feel by removing surface area impacting the ball but also aiding in forward roll.

The shapes themselves are all focused on stability just as the 700 series was, however Tour Edge does note that they have increased the MOI considerably with 800. To do that, they moved to an aluminum sole plate with a hollow center which gets more weight low and to the perimeter, specifically the heel/toe. This is then combined with the implementation of Tour Edge’s VIBRCOR TPU material behind the face. Together these traits look to dramatically improve the feel, which was one of the main issues some had with the original lineup.

We put a large amount of focus on feel for the 800 Series by removing the face insert from past designs and going with a solid precision milled face, as well as by adding a soft VIBRCOR TPU directly behind the face, leading to the best feeling putter we’ve ever designed.
David Glod – CEO of Tour Edge
The feel, balance, and roll are great, but alignment matters too. Here, Tour Edge is again not concerned with tradition and are instead all-in on increasing golfers’ confidence in where they are aimed. By using a wide high-contrast white alignment stripe on all three head shapes, the goal was to draw the eye to the center of the putter face each and every time to inspire less thinking and more freedom on the greens.

The Models – Tour Edge Wingman 800 Series
The 801/802 (slant/double-bend) is a Spider like mallet which will likely be the most familiar to most golfers. Meanwhile, the 803/804 (slant/double-bend) is Tour Edge’s take on the fanged mallet and the 805/806 (slant/plumber’s neck) is blend of double-wide blade meets mid-mallet mini-fang. All certainly have their own unique twist on MOI and use a deep navy PVD finish that should stand out just as much as the shapes themselves.

The Details
Each of the designs within the Wingman 800 lineup will be offered in 34” as well as 35” and will be RH only. The putters officially come to retail on 4/15/25 and will be priced at an ultra-competitive $169.99. Be sure to keep an eye on the THP Community for much more to come on Wingman 800.

The interesting thing to me will be the shapes. I’ve got the Spider look version and it’s really well done, but, I also know the other two are much more abstract…
I’m curious how those will be received

I’m looking forward to chasing them down in store to get my eyes on them
Really like the 804. The alignment looks awesome. This is a hard ponder for me.
@Jman it’s been almost 3 hours and none of your awesome photography has appeared in this thread?? 😉

Hopefully you can find them!!
It’s exciting how much better they sound/feel, that was a really big hurdle for them to overcome last time around.
Can you expand please? From the pictures the fang looks good (to me) the almost blade less so. I’ve always found the spider to be a lot to look at.
I cannot say enough good things about this putter.
From a price point perspective, I never expected a refined, great looking putter that feels phenomenal and sounds near perfect to me. The look in hand is fucking excellent and I definitely will be spending way more time with it.

It’s all personal opinion and preference, that was simply mine.
The spider shape is a classic at this point, and it’s a look many have become much more comfortable with it. Not to mention, they did a really good job with it.
The other two are more unique, and abstract. It doesn’t mean they’re bad, it simply means I think they’ll be the more interesting two to see how people respond to the shapes.
It’s like I said the release article though, I applaud them for picking a lane and committing to it. With these shapes, they truly have done just that.

It’s been a minute since I was really truly surprised like this for a putter in this realm.
Their pictures on release 100% didn’t do them justice.

Thanks James – I also agree I have seen some good and some not so good photos of the various shapes, I really like the slant neck fang (803 I think it is).
Did you see the 805/806 in person? It’s an intriguing shape.
Did we talk about how this is offer with the pro only blue star. Really, really interesting choice. Seems they are all in on feel
That blue definitely stands out! This looks more “finished” to me than their prior offerings. I’d roll that 803 for sure

I have not asked, but I think they know exactly what they have here. Which is a putter that out punches a lot of others in much higher end weight classes so to speak and dollar for dollar, it might be untouchable.

I believe that. I really like the alignment of the 806 and the use of technology here makes sense
The pro shop at my local course is larger than most (15,000+ square feet) and stocks numerous manufactures including Tour Edge. Hopefully they will have these putters available. I’m interested in seeing these in person and having a chance to roll a few.
Going to try and get some pics of the one I have in hand this evening.
Did just roll about 30 putts on the Tour Links out of curiosity to make sure I was remembering correctly what I experienced, and, I was.
But his putter sounds/feels superb, absolutely impressive in all facets.

Sadly, it’s possible. It seems to happen in this price realm.
That said, I do think this finish will draw some attention they otherwise would not have gotten.

Yeah simply from a “oh that looks interesting” perspective people will pick it up…sounds like it’ll also feel quite nice with a softer ball you usually tend to see on retail putting greens

Just the price? I’m sad due to the limited availability (TE equipment in general). Will be in Hilton head and I’d next week hope to see and try these putters (and maybe some irons too)

I was just commenting (i guess) that i feel a lot of good stuff from TE is missed just due to limited availability to see it or test it. I think i only found it at PGATSS or GG (one or the other). If folks could see/touch test view one compared to another, some items might fly off shelves. But people aren’t going to leap to the website and buy w/o demoing (even with the great program TE has).
Here’s hoping I’m wrong though!

That’s for sure always the case.
When it comes to putters though, price drives part of it as well. It’s a true balancing act, too low and it’s seen as cheap, too high and it infringes on fully milled “premium” designs and it’s seen as overpriced.
There is a ton of potential to establish a foothold in this realm when it comes to putters, but it’s often on a razors edge when it comes to public perception.

Thanks, that’s interesting information to think about and consider. I didn’t realize “too low” could be an issue, but with more thought, makes sense.

This was a ton of fun today, and I made a LOOOOT of putts with it too.
It’s a good looking stick. Glad it’s working, hope they get some traction, makes one wonder why the others (some anyway) have such high prices. Not the hand mades or even the limited versions, just some of the “regular” big names.

Most of those will larger prices are fully milled, or utilize much more milling as well as additional materials for weighting and such. All that costs more to do.

Good point, i went thinking about some of that, but tech wise these appear to offer a lot more than i wild have expected at this price point.
These are criminally underrated.
I cannot wait for everyone to read the review that comes from working with the 801.

Yeah, I don’t notice it at all from the playing position photo you posted. It’s really just the close-up ones and I’m sure the lighting plates into that too.
