Admittedly, Tour Edge likely won’t be among the first names you think of when it comes to tech forward putters, but they are trying to change that. When the brand brought their Wingman putters to retail in 2022 it showed their belief that they could innovate within the segment while also being at a highly competitive price point.
The Wingman 700 series of putters were met with positive overall feedback from both THP as well as our community of amateur golfers. However, no first effort is perfect and along with the positivity there were some constructive criticisms. Tour Edge took all of it in and went back to work until they had created the new Wingman 800 lineup.

The Story – Tour Edge Wingman 800 Series
Visually, the new Wingman 800 putters are not aimed at the traditionalist. Honestly, though some may disagree, this feels like a much more focused Tour Edge release. Rather than trying to offer something for everyone, be it shape or alignment, they appear to have committed to picking their lane and going all in on it. That is a respectable, and intelligent decision.
When it comes to shapes, the Wingman 800 line consists of three different looks that are available in two different shaft options to have both face-balanced and toe-hang variations for each. The heads are cast 304 Stainless Steel which are face milled to implement the proprietary new “W Precision Milled Face” that looks not only to improve feel by removing surface area impacting the ball but also aiding in forward roll.

The shapes themselves are all focused on stability just as the 700 series was, however Tour Edge does note that they have increased the MOI considerably with 800. To do that, they moved to an aluminum sole plate with a hollow center which gets more weight low and to the perimeter, specifically the heel/toe. This is then combined with the implementation of Tour Edge’s VIBRCOR TPU material behind the face. Together these traits look to dramatically improve the feel, which was one of the main issues some had with the original lineup.

We put a large amount of focus on feel for the 800 Series by removing the face insert from past designs and going with a solid precision milled face, as well as by adding a soft VIBRCOR TPU directly behind the face, leading to the best feeling putter we’ve ever designed.
David Glod – CEO of Tour Edge
The feel, balance, and roll are great, but alignment matters too. Here, Tour Edge is again not concerned with tradition and are instead all-in on increasing golfers’ confidence in where they are aimed. By using a wide high-contrast white alignment stripe on all three head shapes, the goal was to draw the eye to the center of the putter face each and every time to inspire less thinking and more freedom on the greens.

The Models – Tour Edge Wingman 800 Series
The 801/802 (slant/double-bend) is a Spider like mallet which will likely be the most familiar to most golfers. Meanwhile, the 803/804 (slant/double-bend) is Tour Edge’s take on the fanged mallet and the 805/806 (slant/plumber’s neck) is blend of double-wide blade meets mid-mallet mini-fang. All certainly have their own unique twist on MOI and use a deep navy PVD finish that should stand out just as much as the shapes themselves.

The Details
Each of the designs within the Wingman 800 lineup will be offered in 34” as well as 35” and will be RH only. The putters officially come to retail on 4/15/25 and will be priced at an ultra-competitive $169.99. Be sure to keep an eye on the THP Community for much more to come on Wingman 800.

All about shape preference.

I love the look of the 806, but would be a little concerned it’s a plumbers neck and not face balanced. I think i could get over it though.

Very small thing that sticks out and maybe its my brain being weird
But those paint lines for the white just don’t look super sharp and clean…maybe that’s just he close ups but they look not perfect
[/QUOTE]
They look incredible in hand.
I really cannot commend the quality enough.

I think it’s just a super close up thing, cause I haven’t noticed it until today
I got to roll the 803 today at the local golf shop… these look great in hand! I was impressed with how small the footprint was for a mallet in comparison to some other brands on the rack. Also, the blue really popped, and the alignment aid was very intuitive. It felt a little firmer off of the face than I was expecting, but appeared to put a really solid roll on the ball.
My one gripe is the grip, but I would regrip nearly any putter I buy, so no biggie.
I got to try out the 801 and 802 at PGA SS today. I liked everything about them but the grip. That is something I would replace. These putters look as good as any on the market and they rolled true. I was hoping to try the 806, but they didn’t have it.

Absolutely. It’s hard to describe feel since it’s so subjective, but it was right in the sweet spot for me.
I’ve never done a putter fitting and I’ve used both face balanced and toe hang putters. I feel I could use either of these. I might have preferred the 801 for longer putts.

It’s a really nice combo, easily the most surprising putter of the year for me. The one I have isn’t the best fit for me, but man it’s a blast to use still.

I wanted about half of the toe hang listed on the 806 and one would have been ordered.
I could see a 802 in the future if/when I get back on a face balanced kick

I’m hoping we see them take this specific design, and maybe add a couple looks to it at some point. They’re easily the best putters they’ve done imo, and they addressed all the issues from the first wingman putters for sure.

The stepped alignment bit in the last one was a little too much for me personally. These tick all the boxes for me and would love to see the line expanded with a few more options. There is always room to add another putter imho

Agreed, the feel was also….tough….last time.
These are definitely a little outside the box shape wise, but I love that they’ve owned that.

100% agree. I love the added alignment features in these. It makes the 805 and 805 really standout. If I wanted a boring wide blade with a simple flange line I have lots of options.

And man, the blue is SOOOOOO good
When i did the TE testing a few years back i was hoping they would do a wingman. But these look soooooo good
I still hope they do another line with the Lock-On alignment. The feel wasn’t great on those but it was almost worth it as that alignment tool really worked for me.

Thankfully the feel here is in another stratosphere from what that was hahaha
I don’t want to seem like a TE homer but I’m so tempted to just order this and run with it.

Rock a Tour Edge staff bag and throw that putter in there.
If I didn’t have another commitment, then the 806 was a serous thought. Such an interesting shape.
I’m not one to use the stock head covers and I want to get a mallet version of what I already have. Has to be custom made and is nearly the same price as the putter.
