I too cannot do the FW in the bag, I don’t have an excuse about 2 drivers, I just stink at hitting it
I look forward to seeing how JB plays this season with one length. Crazy that he mentioned an 11 yard gap throughout the set that he is testing. I am playing OL forged tec 4i-PW and have about the same gap. I will hit PW anything under 125 yds with no hesitation, despite the Arccos smart distance. I have a little different gap than 11 yards up top, but my 4i had been 195 most of the year until some recent swing issues.

I gamed them just like everyone else.
It was a direct shot at golfers haha – those irons were freaking HOT.
that gapping is insanely good!

I am nearly certain my next set of irons will be OL. I looked hard at Forged Tecs this year so I am excited to see what Cobra has to offer in 2021. The question would be to get 6 iron length or 7 iron length.
I went a different direction in the length. If you get a chance, listen in as I talk a lot about OL.
Listened this morning. A few thoughts:
First @Canadan my favorite pizza is square (New Albanian in New Albany, IN):
I was a 1 FW person for 2 years and tried 3 hybrids for a while when I was hitting them really well. I have been working on my swing a bit and now I blast my fairway woods while also starting to have trouble launching a hybrid nearly as high as a FW wood. My 5 wood 18* is laughably higher launching than my 19* hybrid.
that pizza looks incredible, but it presents as though you’ll need to take a nap after eating it haha
Oh, that’s not laughable – your 5 wd should see a much higher flight than a 19 H.
And a square, thin crust pizza still works – not as carb driven.
No comment LOL!!!
9 iron.
I think this is about right. I would say either end of the bag is where you want to test so either like a 5 or 9/pw is perfect. Just thinking about it I like the 9 here. 5 you might be tempted to swing too hard but most people hit the 9 pretty smooth. For whatever reason I’ve been getting along with my 8 better than any of the others recently though, but then again I’ve got some weird stuff going on with my swing this year. Good suggestion either way.
Nope.
Definitely not.
did you just GIPHY yourself?
I don’t think many of Santa’s elves were Jewish.
If a single iron, I would suggest 9i or 5i. But I believe you would get the best test from one at top and bottom.
I have looked at my stats recently and have decided to drop the 3 wood all together next season and play a utility and hybrid instead. Don’t think I could ever play a 62* wedge so better to fill the top than the bottom for me. Seems like I barley play the 3 wood in rounds and when I do it is less than stellar.

How’s height look?
That is a dialed in set.
32 yards, 33 yards, 32 yards and 32 yards.
I was pretty astonished.
Do you have an ETA (embargo date) on the club make/model reveal of your one length clubs? Very interested to hear about these mystery one length. If I was a betting man, I am wondering is its something using MIM technology…
I can’t say yet, but I would say to pay attention to THP coming up soon.
I like where this is headed. Hey @OITW looks like another OL ponder is coming soon to add to your growing interest!
Agreed with the others, 9 is good, 8 would also work. I would recommend against a 5 as a singular test club because 1) it’s still tough because people tend to overswing it and 2) if you get caught up in ball flight at all, it’s going to look different enough to spook you.
The 8/9/PW seem to be easier to "trust" from a mental standpoint, and for some (at least myself), those end up being our favorite clubs in the bag.
I may be behind as I haven’t listened to the podcast yet – but are you seeing this on the long irons too? I know that was the knock on the earlier OL sets – the long irons launched low. Know that’s something Cobra’s addressed but interesting to see the data there.
Completely. I will have more later on a round I am doing right now. See the next post.
We must use OL set (5-GW) on every shot.
Very interesting. I am curious. What is the major push for you to dive into one length and commit for a year? You may have said during the pod and I just remember..
How does that compare to your VL PW? Relatively the same?
I think the tech is there. Plus I believe a single swing for irons for a flawed swinger, has more potential for greater frequency of solid shots.
Overswing a 5? I’m your man. I’m going to grab a 9 to see how it goes. Our weather here will be pretty iffy for the next couple of months so this will be a somewhat drawn out experiment.
.. I am curious to see your results..
Was going to follow up but MP beat me too it i’m very curious now
#EarlyAdopter
it definitely has me paying close attention now
I’ve got a set of 5+ irons on the way. I’m really enjoying the 4 HY and am considering picking up the 3 HY as well, but haven’t seen much mentioned in terms of gapping between the hybrids, specifically.
I tested out the 3 and 4 from the F9 lineup and saw the gapping I expected to see. Have not hit the OL hybrids from this year’s set or next.
I have had a terrible time with the OL hybrids. I wish it weren’t the case and I am sure it is me and not the clubs. Distance-wise, I hit the 4h fine but switched to a OL 4i because I hit it roughly the same distance but straighter. The OL 3h I actually hit shorter than the OL 4h. I haven’t given up on them forever, but they are not currently in my bag. When I was playing with Jose from Cobra, he suggested I get a standard length 2h or a 5w to replace the OL 3h and keep playing my OL 4i.
I have talked to a few people that really like the OL hybrids, so it is very player specific on what works for the individual.
Impressed with the OL. My hypothetical Morgan Cup bag would be a OL set up.
This time from 5565 yards.
I hit FW woods all the time but frankly I play tees at my home course that are long for how far I hit the ball. I hit 3w or 5w at least 3-6 times a round. Certainly more than my 5i. I love the concept of the second "safety" driver but I think that is for someone that is much longer than I am.
Can’t wait for the time when more details can be shared on these.
