Voice Caddie is well known for producing a wide range of distance-measuring devices, including GPS watches, laser rangefinders, and affordable launch monitors. These tools provide essential data for golfers aiming to improve their game. My first personal launch monitor was the SC100. It offered valuable metrics such as clubhead speed, ball speed, smash factor, and carry distance. This device quickly became a reliable companion during nearly every practice session as I worked to improve my golf handicap.Â
A decade later, the personal launch monitor market has seen significant changes, with Voice Caddie remaining a constant as a budget-friendly choice for golfers seeking to enhance their understanding of their performance. Following the 2023 release of the SC4, Voice Caddie has raised the bar with the recent introduction of the new SC4 Pro. This model retains a proven design while incorporating additional metrics, improved accuracy, and a new app to further assist golfers.
Overview
At first glance, the SC4 Pro is essentially a twin of the SC4. It features a compact design at roughly 5″ x 8″ in size and is equipped with a built-in kickstand for stability. The front of the device boasts a 4.8″ LCD screen that displays eight different data points which makes the SC4 Pro a convenient launch monitor that can be quickly set up at a driving range or golf course without needing to be connected to an app. This feature gives the SC4 Pro a significant advantage when comparing to other Doppler launch monitors in its category. In addition to the visual data on the screen, the device also includes a speaker that announces the distance of each shot.
Setup of the Voice Caddie SC4 Pro
One thing of note, because the SC4 uses a Doppler Radar Sensor specific setup guidelines are essential to achieve optimal results. First, the launch monitor must be positioned behind the ball. According to Voice Caddie, it can be placed as close as 5 feet behind the golf ball and should be at a height comparable to that of the golf ball. Additionally, when using the monitor indoors, there needs to be at least 10 feet of distance between the ball and the net or screen, with more space being advantageous for obtaining consistent readings. The overall setup is quick and easy as long as everything is aligned correctly. To assist with proper alignment, Voice Caddie offers two accessories that can help ensure a correct setup.
Accessories
First, there’s a protective carrying case that provides a stylish and secure way to transport or store the SC4 Pro, helping to prevent damage. This case also features a removable tray with some alignment marks that offer a simple visualization to get the center of the SC4 Pro aligned with the hitting area. The tray also fits inside the case, enabling users to elevate the SC4 Pro, which is particularly useful for ranges or garage setups where the mat sits an inch or two above ground level.
A dedicated alignment stand is another accessory specifically designed for the SC4 and SC4 Pro. The stand has cutouts on the top that securely hold the launch monitor in place during use. It also includes a level and three adjustable leveling bolts to correct any uneven surfaces or height discrepancies. Perhaps most importantly, there’s a centralized slot for an alignment stick, which provides a clear visual guide to the ideal hitting zone for the best launch monitor readings. For those interested in enhancing their SC4 Pro setup, the protective case and the alignment stand are each priced at $49.99.
Additional Features
Voice Caddie’s SC4 has already provided golfers with a wealth of valuable data, including carry and total distances, ball speed, swing speed, smash factor, launch angle, peak height, and spin rate. For many golfers, these data points are sufficient. However, with this release’s “Pro” designation, consumers expect more, and Voice Caddie did not disappoint.
With the new SC4 Pro, Voice Caddie has introduced additional features, including the ability to measure spin axis, side spin, back spin, and dispersion or deviation. ProMetrics, Voice Caddie’s proprietary measurement and algorithm system, makes these added metrics possible. ProMetrics enhances the accuracy of all readings and allows for these extra data points. It is important to note that these newly integrated metrics do not appear on the device screen; instead, they are incorporated into an entirely new app experience.
The App – Voice Caddie SC4 Pro
Previously, the SC4 launch monitor worked with Voice Caddie’s MySwingCaddie, but for the SC4 Pro, users must download the all-new VoiceCaddie S app. VoiceCaddie S provides three modes in which to practice and capture data. The first is a real-time virtual driving range, where golfers can see their ball flight while seeing all the available data points. It’s likely the mode that people will use the most. There is also a target mode, which helps enhance the range experience, and users can set the distance of the target they are trying to hit.
Stepping away from the virtual range is a dedicated practice mode within the VoiceCaddie S app that targets those working on their swing speed. In recent years, we’ve seen quite a shift in other products and workout plans explicitly designed to assist golfers in obtaining more speed. What is nice about this inclusion is that the swing speed readings can be recorded simply with a club or with a more targeted product such as SuperSpeed weighted clubs. Within this mode, the app will track your most recent swing, daily average, fastest swing of the day, and personal best. Even though this will likely not be the feature that pushes one to purchase an SC4 Pro, it is a welcome inclusion.
No matter which practice mode you choose, a statistics page allows you to analyze your data in detail. You can break down your sessions by day, club, or target. Those interested can also review swing speed statistics. If you enjoy studying your stats after a range session, this app feature will meet your needs. Additionally, the app allows one to recall specific shots and watch the replay on the virtual range.
Sim Features – Voice Caddie SC4 Pro
Those looking to use the SC4 Pro as a simulator are in luck because it pairs nicely with E6 Connect. It comes with a license with access to five different E6 courses, allowing golfers to start playing sim golf in their own surroundings at no extra cost. Without thoroughly reviewing the E6 software, we played some sim golf using this combination, which worked as expected. Overall, for the price and the addition of these courses, the SC4 Pro and E6 Connect offers a great way to get your foot in the door for a home simulator setup.
Final Thoughts
Voice Caddie offers impressive features with the SC4 Pro. The device can be conveniently set up behind the user for practice sessions or on the golf course all without the need to connect to a tablet or phone. When connected to the new Voice Caddie S app, users gain access to all the valuable data you crave. Did I mention that no additional costs are associated with using the app, meaning no membership or subscription fees are required? Golfers can enjoy all these benefits for a total price of $599.99.

I was a long-time SC300 user and posted a review of my experience in another thread. I recently ordered the SC4 Pro. Even though the SC300 was a bit spotty in terms of providing accurate launch and spin data in particular, the selling point for me on SC4 is that it will provide launch direction data plus plots of shots dispersion. I am also thinking that Voice Caddie has refined their technology since releasing SC300.
I took advantage of their trade-in offer and am paying a total of $420 for the SC4 Pro. I did have to pay $20 to ship the trade-in SC300 unit back to Voice Caddie in California.

Do you plan to use it more inside or outside?

Outside only. I will test it for a day or two as soon as it arrives and post a review.

That’s pretty much where use my Launch monitors. Just no room in the garage with the wife’s car and 37 bins of Christmas and seasonal decorations. And the HOA will not let me construct an outside area, unless I took it down each day after use 😡

How about some short primary test results so us that are on the fence can make a decision before these Cyber sales are gone 😉

Outside numbers were pretty close to what I normally see indoors. I have no concerns about it being used in that fashion. SC4 already stood out as a good outside option.
Can the SC4 Pro/its app record swing video? I’ve seen conflicting reports on this and this is a huge differentiator for me in trying to decide between the SC4 Pro and the R10.

Yes, and I just read that you can manually adjust the frame rate to at least 120 fps. That is about the minimum you need for frame-by-frame analysis of golf swings.

No camera. Although based on a some users here of the r10, I don’t think that would do it for my liking.
