Surely you didn’t expect release season to come and go without hearing from Vokey, did you? Most equipment enthusiasts understand that the SM10s were just released last year, so we shouldn’t expect a whole new line of wedges in 2025 to replace them. But what Vokey has done for some time now is release different models with tour grinds throughout the product’s life cycle to help keep things fresh. They have been very busy with these special releases this past year, and it’s been quite fun to follow. Peruse the THP Homepage, and you’ll find articles on six different WedgeWorks releases that have all been introduced since last spring. This time we aren’t getting WedgeWorks exclusive, but instead, Bob Vokey is making a full-time addition to the SM10 lineup with the .06K Grind.

Another K grind? Yes, you read that correctly. This marks the fourth variant of the K grind released in this cycle, including the WedgeWorks variations. In the SM10 family, the K grind is available only in higher lofts, such as 58° and 60°. The standard version features the widest sole and the highest bounce, which makes it particularly effective from the bunker. While it sees plenty of use on tour, Bob Vokey has received numerous inquiries from players looking for a K grind sole with a lower bounce to more effectively hit those controllable, high, and soft pitches from the tight lies that tour players frequently encounter.
“As a result of those requests, we crafted a K Grind sole with 6 degrees of effective bounce while maintaining the wide camber that makes the K Grind design so helpful for a wide variety of players,” said Vokey. “As soon as we brought it out on tour, it was immediately accepted and in the bags of multiple players as soon as they had a chance to test it.”

Who is it for?
Being an extension of the SM10 line means that golfers will see the .06K Grind on the shelves next to all other SM10 wedges, which will undoubtedly raise the question of which player profile it works best for. Players with a shallower attack angle or those who often play off of firm lies would be the ideal choice for the .06K Grind. Similar to the standard K Grind and its 14° of bounce, this new version will keep the high-cambered, wide sole and maintain its bunker play prowess, just for players that don’t have that steep swing and need that extra bounce. Compared to other high-loft, low-bounce wedges, its sole gives a bit of forgiveness because it will resist digging.
“In the past few years, our in-line low bounce lob wedges have always had narrow, crescent-shaped soles,” said Corey Gerrard, Director of Marketing, Vokey Wedges. “Whether it was L Grind or T Grind, for some players, those aren’t necessarily the most forgiving sole designs for a low bounce wedge. Adding the .06K allows us to give players, some of whom might fit somewhere between a .08M Grind and a .04T Grind, a low bounce wedge that still offers forgiveness, especially from the bunker.”

The Right Grind For Your Game
With the addition of the .06K Grind, the SM10 line now offers 27 combinations of loft, bounce, and grinds. For many this might seem overwhelming, and it certainly can be. While Titleist and Bob Vokey recommend getting fit for your wedges, they recognize that many of you reading this may not do so. To assist you, they provide an online wedge fitting tool that offers recommendations based on your answers to questions about your game and the conditions of the courses you play. There is also a wedge education section that goes into more depth about the design of each wedge.
The Details – Vokey SM10 .06K Grind
The Vokey SM10 58.06K and 60.06K wedges will be available for pre-sale starting on February 6th, with a retail launch on March 7th, priced at $189.
Both loft configurations will be offered for right- and left-handed golfers and will come in the three main finishes of the SM10 lineup: Tour Chrome, Jet Black, and Nickel. Those who prefer a raw finish can purchase one through the WedgeWorks program.

Low bounce wide sole is probably amazing out of a bunker. A great addition to the lineup
Apart from availability/price, how different is the WedgeWorks Low Bounce K from this new standard release. From the article (great work @ddec ) it appears a bit wider, but is there anything else setting it apart?

Nice write up @ddec !
So, do I understand correctly that this .06K version was previously only available at Wedgworks in Raw Finish and is now going be a “Staple” in the SM10 line in other finishes except Raw?

I think @Iceman! nailed it. Previously was only available in wedgeworks and in raw finish. Now its part of the SM10 line and in standard finishes
This could be seriously good here in Texas
Great read. Love that they are adding this to the standard line of wedges.

yeah, they had the low bounce K in the Wedgeworks family…this guy here is making it up to the main SM10 lineup and gets the regular finishes. Can still do raw as a custom order. I’m not sure how different the sole is from the Low Bounce K in the WW, but if I get one of these in hand I will be able to compare becuase I still have that other one hanging out.

If I have it right, then I think that says a lot about the Grind if they are moving it from a “Limited Edition” to a “Standard Edition”
Know that @Trmpt98 and I have raved about this grind.
That’s a whole bunch of K grinds. To me it’s confusing, even with the concise explanation.
I really need to go through a full wedge fitting this coming season. The number of options in the market is completely overwhelming and I see value in all of them but I’ve never been good at “self diagnosing” which one is right for me. I mean heck when putting together my bag for the Srixon Experience I think there were something like 3 dozen options available and that was just the RTZ release cycle!

apparently they want people to know that all wide sole’s aren’t made the same and us fools should use them more.

Agreed, the K grind is amazing and I might have to buy a low bounce option to use at the firmer league course I play.
Sounds like a good fit for me – shallower AoA, often firm conditions, sometimes use out of a bunker. But the new RTZ Adapt also sounds good.
Sweet write up! I kind of forgot we had 4 K grinds! But as a shallow player this is the type I love to see!
