The Black Vapor finish from Titleist isn’t new. We’ve seen it before on limited releases and WedgeWorks offerings. Over the years, Titleist has frequently expanded the Vokey lineup after launch by adding new finishes, bounce options, or grinds.
This time, however, they’re taking things a step further.
Previously available only through WedgeWorks customization, Vokey is bringing the SM11 Black Vapor finish together with Flight Lines into the standard retail lineup.
What are flight lines?
Developed alongside Titleist Brand Ambassador Parker McLachlin, flight lines are three precision engraved lines on the inside of the hosel that provide visual cues to the golfer on how they should setup to the ball to hit three very specific short game shots.

“I’ve worked with some of the best players in the world on their short game,” McLachlin said. “One of the things I’ve noticed is they all set up to their wedge shots pretty similar. Flight Lines are going to help you understand where the club face and shaft are supposed to be positioned at setup.”
How Flight Lines Work
This part is so simple it will make you wonder why everyone doesn’t do this. All you have to do is align the correct line on the hosel to your nose at address. This will automatically adjust the club’s shaft lean and club face position for the proper shot.
Bump and Run
Use the rear line to create a lower, controlled shot that releases toward the hole.
Pitch Shot
Likely the line most golfers will use most often. The center line creates a neutral shaft position while promoting proper bounce engagement.
Flop Shot
Everyones favorite shot to execute. Using the front line opens the club face and sets the shaft angle for a higher softer landing shot.
Vokey SM11 Black Vapor Finish Returns
There’s just something about a black wedge that appeals to golfers. Whether it’s the reduced glare on sunny days or simply the contrast sitting next to the ball, black finishes continue to be incredibly popular.
However, not all black finishes are created equal.
The titanium carbide Black Vapor finish features a smudge-resistant FPP coating that gives it a noticeably glossier appearance than the standard Jet Black finish.
Combined with the gold paintfill and BV Wings logo, the result is one of the more premium-looking SM11 finishes we’ve seen.

Available in right hand only, every SM11 Black Vapor Wedge with Flight Lines comes standard with a Dynamic Gold Onyx shaft and a custom Golf Pride Z Cord grip.
