Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show. Hosted by Dan Edwards each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today Jason Horodezky joins the show to talk all about shafts and Kinetixx shafts in particular.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but we talk about a little bit of a name change from Paderson to Kinetixx, what makes them unique and a whole lot more. This show has a lot going on and it is an episode you will not want to miss as Jason Horodezky goes Off Course.
Episode 48 is here and Dan and his guest Jason Horodezky discuss the following topics.
Who is Kinetixx?
What makes Kinetixx shafts different from others?
Bryson and One Length?
New Age vs Old Age thinking
And so much more

They have really good service. Tell them you are a THPer, they will take care of you
Jason is wicked smart, and @Canadan your way of guiding the interview made for some truly great and down to earth conversation with you two.
I need to dive deeper into some of the Kinetixx offerings for sure. That Velocity driver shaft needs to be tried.
I got about half way through this on my way to work.. My head is spinning by some of the things I am hearing..
First off.. Jason Horodezky seems like a super genius…
2nd.. I have known a bit about how they are different from other shaft companies but this is next level..
3rd. He very low key called out other shaft companies in a way that has me doing some research…
I loved the question back. "Why do you use steel"
Haha I ask that when playing irons. Never really thought about it for putters but @Canadan is right 90% of golfers probably don’t maybe more.
Crazy, right?
He made a couple comments that had me questioning 20 years of letting the putter shaft be selected for me.
This peaked my interest even more about one length irons and got me looking into the Edel one length irons.
He is correct that I enjoy feeling/seeing the tech. Also, had no idea that many shaft makers out there ground down older shafts to re build newer models or whatever…… is that 99% statement accurate and how does that work/affect the shaft…. wild to me
exactly….. that 3rd is very intriguing to me……
I can tell they are highly technical and have a ton of R&D in their shafts. Their installation guide is interesting as well.. Very straight forward do’s and do nots while building with their products.
If you have questions, never hesitate to ask.
It’s interesting because I think a lot of the coding is based on popularity.
For instance we understand Project X 5.0-7.0.
We understand UST Mamiya F3, F4, etc etc
For some reason D30, D30+, etc is a bit confusing, but I think that is based on how often they are discussed.
I agree with this..
For example.. What is the overall weight of the of Ballistic TP? I would guess it is 75grams based on their model number. But I do not know if that is the case.
I have been clicking around their site all morning. lol.. Jason blew my mind today.
That is an easy one. They are there, but seem hidden sometimes on mobile. This might help. Once you click on a shaft it has all of the specs. If you click the plus sign, it opens up and gives weight and what flex equivalent would be.

Ballistic TP in S flex is 74g…..
"An active shaft that increases in frequency the greater the force applied."
If ya love it, let’s make a deal for the Velocity…Ha
We don’t sell golf equipment, but the Velocity is in stock on their website for those interested. I love mine.
Also, I may or may not have spent the entire episode thinking quietly to myself,
"You’re smart enough to understand it."
"You’re smart enough to understand it."
"You’re smart enough to understand it."
It was a great episode. He often would use words/terminology which are normal speak to technicians but a tad over the head to most. It seems logical to him but is out there to most of us. But it makes so much sense that with such light weights if more fiber and less resin…..End product should be better. I’m sold. It’s just I’ve turned over most of my set in last year and not positioned to reshaft my entire set….But I will…and soon I hope.
No lie. I went and dug the one I tried for about a minute last year out of the shaft graveyard and have an adapter curing on it now.
I may or may not have ordered a Launch TP…..
Nice. One of the few I have not tried as of yet.
When you get it, start a thread or drop some feedback in here. I have used the regular Launch quite a bit and enjoy it.
for sure. I have been curious and this one sounds very interesting.. How to the put it. It is demonstrably counter balanced..
I’ve been curious about these guys because I’ve seen some stuff around the forums here and there.
Headed to their website now
We have a few videos from the tech studio on a couple of the shafts as well. Including Velocity and Ballistic iron shafts.
I’ll check those out. Thanks!
As I tuned in, this was my exact sentiment after going to their website. If I wanted to try their shafts, I can’t even figure out where to start.
Never hesitate to ask.
Here ya go.
good one on Ballistic here

And here is Velocity

Super interesting and definitely not the average person in the golf world. Very cool to get a glimpse into his thought process on not only golf shafts but all kinds of golf stuff.
Dude was bringing some heat on the whole golf shaft industry, ha, love it.
I have 4 Velocity shafts and get chills when I hit them. It’s the first shaft where I really feel how it loads and releases. Usually for me anything that stuff I can’t feel. This thing is like a whip.
I stuck a standard length shaft in my driver head instead of an LD shaft due to their suggestions going back and forth one email.
Which part?
He mentioned repainting and rereleasing old shafts as new..
Its happened. While I don’t think it is incredibly widespread, I can think of one that I know did it with TaylorMade a few years ago that blew my mind on standard shafts.
so far the best word to describe it is.. interesting.. more to come once I can get warm and not be too gym sore..
