The previous line of the iconic FG Tour irons was the V4 and it immediately became a favorite of THPers due to the clubs’ striking good looks and playability that offered high levels of performance. Today Wilson Staff is announcing the new V6 line which blends more forgiveness into the sleek package and does so without any sacrifice in form factor.
The big tech story with the new line is the placement of tungsten on the sole and how it differs depending on the iron you are using. The long irons will have the weight placement heel and toe to add forgiveness on off center strikes where as the shorter clubs, the scoring irons, will have it centered which can promote higher launch without additional spin.
THP TV caught up with Michael Vrska, Global Director of Innovation at Wilson Staff to discuss the new line.
The THP Forum will be the place for early feedback and you can find the THP Review thread here, along with more pictures and in hand thoughts from a group of THPers that had a chance to test this set out already. You can also scroll through pictures of the new irons below.
Those are stunning!! Wow!
Great looking irons and some interesting tech talk. I play the V2 and look forward to giving these a run.
Didn’t like the busy cavity of the V4 version, but these are as clean and better looking than the V2. It appears more tungsten was used here compared to the V4. As a F5 player, not sure these are forgiving enough for me, but will give them a shot.
With the tungsten reducing spin, do the irons get less workable?
A perfect overall package for a players iron. Just marvelous. Everything is there. Precision and forgiveness.

In our initial testing, that has not been the case as flighting the ball either way as well as up and down proved to be rather easy like previous sets. What we did notice is that in the longer irons, the ball flight rose quicker at launch without impacting peak height or increasing spin numbers so more carry distance was available (about 5 yards).
Hope that helps and you can follow along with feedback in the THP Review thread here.

Thank ya. Be interesting to see how much change there is.
Look good and that picture shows what is going on. Not sure I have the game for them, but liked the C200 set a lot. Wonder if the price goes down on those now.
Those look buttery.
Really good looking iron. With all of the stuff wilson is doing now with red, i was thinking that the stripe should have been that color. But they look good.
these look pretty darn good (nice photography by the way). Not sure they are the club for me, as I play c7 irons, but have been looking at an upgrade. I really think i need to go to one of these thp events with wilson though.
Nice looking iron and I like the way the weighting is positioned. It appears that W/S has another great product hitting the market Looking forward to hearing the review as well as having a chance to demo them myself.
Those are gorgeous! Love the topline look from the video, the tungsten weighting adjusting by club is very intriguing as well.
