For the last few months, golfers have had the opportunity to enjoy a TV show called Driver vs Driver featuring Wilson Staff. The reality show featured regular people from outside of the golf industry making their pitch to have their design be the next created featuring the iconic Wilson Staff shield.
THP caught up with the President of Wilson Golf, Tim Clarke, to ask him about his thoughts on the idea of doing reality TV, what the expectations are and where the company goes from here. Fascinating and fun look at the decisions and goals of the brand from the man in charge in his open and honest discussion.
What do you think THPers? Will Triton be successful and did the TV Show carve a new way of generating buzz and sourcing ideas? Join us in the THP Forum and give your thoughts on the entire process and finished product here.

Solid interview with the Pres. I think Mr. Clarke has assembled an excellent group of folks and shows willingness to embrace new thinking and ideas that can bring Wilson Staff back to relevance in the golf market.
Loved the thoroughness and honesty that Tim Clarke conveyed in this interview. Excellent job by both parties!

Awesome stuff from W/S !
@ChaseUK02
Tim and the whole Wilson team did a great job on this show and bringing a cool new driver to market. I’d love to see what would happen if they did this show for other clubs, irons, wedges, putters, etc.!
@iceyshanks
Great interview! Hopefully W/S continues to challenge the conservative mindset of the golf industry. I really like what they have put out recently and love that they are a Midwest company!
@kevinhueb
I have to say as a long time Wilson player, I’m genuinely excited to see the new Wilson taking shape. From amazing designs to the younger tour stars, Wilson has the people and gear to make it back. The Triton, judging from the lines to test it, is going to be a good seller this season. The customizable aspect of it makes it a great choice for so many players today.
Great job Wilson!

Great interview!! Loved his candidness about the show and the industry.
@just_hacking
This was a great interview, love his honesty and openness about the whole show. Can’t wait to try out the Triton soon.

Enjoyed the video. Idea to open up the design process is a good one. I believe Nissan Motor Company designed the bubble burner shaft back in the 90’s. I saw it at the design facility in La Jolla.
@claimguy1
Great interview. Mr. Clarke seemed quite excited about the direction Wilson is going. Their product lines are sold and the introduction of the Triton driver is proof that they are getting stronger.
I personally can’t wait to give the Triton a try.
@afwcardinal
Triton Driver the bomb!
Lovely piece of work here.
@lewistuffnell
Love the ability to adjust this bad boy in so many ways. Kudos to W/S for creating this unique Driver v. Driver competition which produced a very intriguing product!

Great interview JB.
Tim Clarke is fantastic, innovative and very passionate about Wilson Staff.
I’m still getting through the episodes, but I love what they did with Driver vs. Driver.
@amboys85
That was some great stuff! I still love that they took the risk of creating a show like this and it’s great to hear all of the positive feedback so far. Well done Wilson!
@kjvar
Awesome interview JB with Tim Clarke. Very excited to hear about their new driver and happy for the winner. Wilson is definitely headed in the right direction with their line up of clubs. Love the look of the Triton except wish the stripe on top was red and re-name it the Black Widow…imho ;). Seriousness, I love their new V6 irons and Duo balls.
@808hacker
Well done!

Great interview!!
I loved the show and I love the finished product and I am happy to see it has been received so well so far
I could listen to Tim talk Wilson golf and golf in general all day long.

The concept for the driver and show are great. I love how Wilson is following up the show with having a presence at golf shops and fitting customers. I am hoping to hit it soon.
@jwtudor
Loved my time doing a brief demo with the Triton. Very surprised by all the tech crammed in there because the show sort of glossed over that. Love that Eric won, he seemed really humble throughout the whole process. The alignment feature is really neat, very surprised by not being thrown off by it at all when looking down at it, but just how much of a difference it actually seems to make.
Very neat concept for the show, and I feel like it worked well in getting people super interested in the driver as well.

@rustycasino
Nice interview. Enjoyed watching the show with my son. Also looking forward to giving the Triton a few swings.
@mixalotaudio
Great interview, JB! I enjoy hearing about how the drivers were changing how they were ranked as the process went along.
Thanks for the giveaway, THP and Wilson Staff!

Love hearing about how the show came to be and the evolution of who would end up winning the contest. Looking forward to hitting the Triton when I can get my hands on one. Thanks THP and Wilson Staff!!!

Wilson is poised for big things. I firmly believe that. If this club catches on half as well as the buzz suggests, they’re going to have a hit in their hands.

I applaud Mr Clarke’s ingenuity in bringing the new Wilson driver to the market. Unfortunately he has again fallen in the high cost driver niche where you either need a professional fitter or own a high end launch monitor to take advantage of all the technology
