WITB – John Deere Classic – Two Gloves Mixed Bag

With the John Deere Classic getting underway, THP wanted to take a look at a golf bag that is truly a mixed bag of weapons. Two Gloves, as Tommy Gainey is known, loves courses where scoring is low and the John Deere could be the place that this young gun jumps to the next level.

Driver – TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 9.5*
FW Wood – Callaway FT-I Tour 15*
Hybrids – Adams Pro A12 20* & Adams 9031 22*
Irons – Adams A4 Idea Tech 5-PW
Wedges – Cleveland 588 51, 56 & 60
Putter – Odyssey BackStryke Blade
Ball – Callaway Tour iZ

His swing is unorthodox, his gloves are unorthodox and his bag is unorthodox and when you add those three things together, once in a while magic happens. Gainey has said that he loves “birdie fests” and this Quad Cities event should fit the bill. His scoring game has been outstanding this year with his short irons and wedges and because of that, THP is making ‘Two Gloves’, their man to watch this weekend.

  • love those 588s.. bring em back Cleveland Golf!!

  • That’s a great looking bag. Another one gaming the 588’s I see.

  • Got just about every OEM in there! His swing is just painful to watch. He’s proof though, that you don’t need a “proper” swing to contend. He’s one to watch for sure.

  • He’s definitely not one brand loyal.

  • Wow – what a hodge podge of clubs! Glad to see him playing what works OEM’s be damned!

  • Two Glove will always be my favorite BB contestant. I hope the guy does well.

  • I agree! Bring the 588’s back!!!!!!! Thanks for the look into his bag THP.

  • Nice looking mixed bag. I see he is going the 4H route instead of the 4i. I hope he does well this weekend.

  • Thanks for posting Mr. Gainey’s bag. Those 588’s seem to be very popular with the touring pros.

  • I used to use 2 gloves back in the day due to super sweaty hands. I like this guy, and I hope he breaks out soon.

  • I really liked him. Met him in Transitions .Signed a ball and a glove. Got to see the crazy assortment up close.

  • Interesting swing, interesting bag. He seems like a good dude and I like guys with non-country club swings making an impact on the big tour. Good luck to him this week!

  • That’s a great bag, love to see when pros get to choose what works best, instead of just what pays best.

Unorthodox is interesting, golf could do with more guys like Two Gloves!

  • Awesome to see all of those oem’s. Makes me wonder if some pro’s are playing the wrong equipment based on their sponsorships.

  • I’m envisioning a patchwork staff bag with his looper alternating shoulders to ensure equal exposure for each logo…

  • met him (sort of) at the Travelers Championship this year…. was manning the 1st hole fairway as a hole warden around the 275-300 yrd mark….keeping an eye out for errant tee shots…. because of rain, he played hole 1 twice…. he hit both tee shots in the rough/garbage on the side of the hill and after the 2nd one was pretty funny about it- saying something to the effect of “this hole is killing me today and you’re not exactly the guy I wanted to see twice today” while laughing about it…good guy- wish him luck!

  • excellent publish, very informative. I’m wondering why the opposite experts of this sector don’t understand this. You should continue your writing. I am sure, you’ve a great readers’ base already!

  • certainly like your web-site but you have to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues and I in finding it very troublesome to inform the truth then again I?ll surely come back again.
