Authentic Dim Sum, awesome. Brother my sisters and me to offer in Philly. Chicken feet were consumed by my sister as were many other items, we all passed on duck blood soup.

I'm a little sad we haven't had some population & car pics, introduce the locals here to the bogans and utes culture or whatever is going on nowadays

I loved all the food pictures, looked very good.

True story , we went to
Hawaii few years ago met a fellow who was school official he met some aussies who called him a bogan . He loved the term, but when relating the story to
us , said he was a Trogan , when we unravelled it … we all laughed in best spirit of international relations. lol

Oof, no bogans thanks. As for the cars, I'm driving when I see them so I can't take a pic.

Last night we went out for dinner as a surprise for the Ministers 60th.

We took her to Centrepoint Tower in Sydney. It's the tallest structure in Sydney and the second tallest observation tower in the southern hemisphere, coming in at 1,014 feet above street level. The restaurant is about 800 feet above street level.

It takes about an hour to do a full rotation.

Today we drove down the south coast to a town called Kiama and went to the blowhole, which, in the right conditions is quite spectacular. Today wasn't the best but it was pretty good.

After we went and got an Aussie hamburger. We put pickled beets on ours and Australian BBQ sauce (it's not anything like American BBQ sauce, it's usually only used for burgers and beef sausages.)

What's the BBQ sauce like? Assuming it compliments the dirt flavor of the beets?

I make it in the US and it's a combo of ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and some brown sugar. The beets are pickled, so they actually taste good.

Last day today before heading back to Ohio.

We went to my brothers for lunch and as his partner is Japanese, we had a great sushi lunch and some nice sake.

That shirt!!!😂

Have a safe trip home. I'm sure you're road weary by now, but you've managed to pack in a ton of memories.

Safe travels back to the US home! Been a joy to follow along.

Safe travels back home and thank you once again for taking us along with you. It's been a blast following along with this journey!!

Well this kind of sucks. Sitting at gate 32 in Sydney International Airport waiting to board. It's been a good trip but I honestly couldn't see myself moving back as the US is now home.

Brought a travelling companion with me.

Gday Bruces!

This is the last in the series in this travel thread.

We made it home in one piece! (That's still a hard thing to say because Sydney will always be home for me)

Our bags were unscathed for the trip including the very breakables, which is good because some of them are as old as me and priceless because they're kind of heirlooms.

The trip back was uneventful but long, close to 24 hours traveling. We each only got about 2 hours of sleep and crashed hard when we got home. I was first up at 11, which was a lot later than I wanted to get up. I was wise enough to take a couple of extra days off and go back to work on Wednesday. The Minister chose poorly and she goes back to work tomorrow.

This is the food haul I brought home. 2 different flavours of Tim Tams, a lot of Vegemite, Mars bars biscuits, Shape crackers (Vegemite flavour), think mint sauce, Aussie BBQ sauce, Aussie hot Chilli sauce, Scotch Finger biscuits, Iron Bark (eucalyptus tree) honey, Milo drink mix, "chicken" salt for fries, a couple of different meal seasonings and my brother gave me a large bag of Red Gum smoked salt.. Also is Aerogard, a really good bug spray similar to Off.

PXL_20240331_152155851.jpg

These are the heirlooms. They're "Bunnykins" kids tableware that I used up until I was about 8. Plus the knife, fork and spoon. There's also a cut crystal decanter and glasses that was a wedding present to my Mum and Dad. On the right is a travel razor from probably the 20's.

Thanks for taking us along, it was a great trip. Pictures were great, glad you and family had a good time.

Ha! We brought home the exact same tim Tam flavors as well, thought the wife would like the coconut one (didn't and child demolished the whole packet in a week) the big pack disappeared in much the same fashion.
