How did this chance at Augusta come about???


It's kind of a long story. A member of my club here in Charlotte was president of a national insurance company and was a member at Augusta. He invited me to play there with him. Before we made the trip it was revealed that the man had lied on his resume' multiple times. He was forced to resign from his company, Myers Park CC in Charlotte and Augusta National. So the trip didn't happen.

Interestingly, I've been to the Masters more than thirty times since my first trip in 1970. It was much easier to get tickets in the 70s, 80s and early 90s.
Also, Augusta is only three hours away. I haven't been recently. My last trip was 2014.
 
A few, Bethpage a bunch of times when I lived in NYC, Erin Hills, Whistling Straits, Harbortown and Pinehurst.

So many top courses in Philly. My first ever golf trip was to Shawnee. Rented a place there and played in area via The Golf Card. Ha

I play Royal St Georges. Arguably hardest on the Open calendar..

I play it every year in club matches. We play home and away. Plus I’ve played Royal Prince’s but they held the open some some some years ago. Plus Royal Blackheath but we are going waaaaaay back.

I’ve played Littlestone a few times. My mum lives just outside New Romney. Always used to take my clubs when going to visit.
