How much consideration do you give wedge shafts?

I went down a flex from my irons as well. You don't have them in hand yet, do you?
They are sitting in the shop waiting for me! They say for your 56 and up you should step down 1 flex. Softer, slower shots. 52 and lower you want stiffness and control.

Sweet. I have my regular shafts in my PW and GW. Went down a flex in my 53 and 58.

JB can call me a skimmer because I read this too quickly and thought you started playing A flexes :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I don’t think too much since I’m not a full swing wedge player. I did choose graphite for my next wedges however, just because I’m getting old.

I have played wedge specific shafts for a long time in all of my wedges. Currently I have the Tour V wedge shafts which are 125 grams and stiff plus which is firmer and heavier than the KBS Tour V stiff flex shafts I play in my irons, this brings launch and spin down a touch which helps me control the distances a bit more. I have KBS .610 wedge shafts in the set of SM10 wedges I have in my Titleist bag.

I haven't given much thought to wedge shafts and usually play what is stock. Not sure why considering I give thought to the shaft choice in other clubs. I did choose shafts a little closer to what are in my irons, though slightly heavier, for my incoming Edel wedges to have a little better transition from iron to wedges.

In the past, I gave it very little. However, moving to graphite shafts in my wedges has been a game changer. Added spin and a higher trajectory allows me to pull off shots that I struggled with in the past.

Years ago, if there wasnt a DG Spinner shaft in a wedge I wouldnt even look at it!

Considering something. Not sure if I should do it or not..

I’ve always focused on swingweight over shaft…selfishly I usually pick the option that comes in black cause I think they look good 😂 I never really hit full wedge shots so not a huge concern

Put these in my 56 and 60. So far, very impressed. They def improved on this iteration.

Dynamic Gold was in pretty much every wedge offered for so many years when I started that I’ve never switched.

Play $taper 120s in irons. Went to $taper 130x 8i and then 125s+ 8i. The 130x lacked responsiveness in the short game.

The 125s+ are better for short game but I recently put a kbs tour 130x 8i in my 54 and it's a ton better for feel in short game. Tight dispersion seems to remain but have only compared on range. Put the tour 130x in play Saturday but didn't need it for a full or partial shot.

But just based in short game, decided to put the tour 130x 8i into my 60 as well.

Approach game really took a giant leap forward when I went away from the wedge flex shafts that come in vokeys. Hoping the tour 130x gives me the same shot dispersion but also the short game consistency that's been lacking since I swapped nearly 2 years ago.

Enough to have learned...for me... match them to my iron shafts and go play.

Little to non. My old wedge had a stock steel shaft when the rest of my set were graphite. No issues. I now have the same MMT shaft as the rest of my set, again, no issues.

Definitely put some thought into it. I think it can matter if you want it to matter

Before my fitting a couple weeks ago, none at all, I just rolled with stock.

After my fitting, the matching iron shafts seem to work best, although we will see how that works out with partial shots and sand.

I’m in the TT boat, the high rev shaft I thought would be good? Didn’t enjoy. So I guess I’m a fan of the S200 or S400 🤷🏻‍♂️

Like to have them match irons, or perhaps even just a little heavier. S300s for the whole set is a great option, or say X100 in irons and S400 in the wedges. That's my thought anyways.

I never thought about iron shafts really until ShaftUp. Now that I feel the difference I’m pondering dealing with a rusty face for that feel in the wedges.

I have an oddball KBS TGI 60 in my Callaway MD5 52/10S. It is the best wedge I have for punching out of the rough.
I got it cheap shopping on Ebay. Unused, mint condition. Someone clearing out inventory.

I match my irons.
