This happened in Kansas City. Lenexa, actually.

Few little storms here this morning, and more coming. This happened just a mile or so from my office. We lost a tree in our parking lot, but most of the damage was just a bit east of us.

Toad,
Glad you're safe. Isn't it a bit early for tornadoes?

Not local to me, but how stupid and selfish can someone be? I hate to attribute it to one (my) generation, but stories like this certainly don't help.

A questionable Snapchat filter that lets users show off their speed while taking a selfie is being blamed for a serious car accident that left a man with traumatic brain injuries after being struck by a driver going over 100 MPH, according to a new lawsuit. The victim and his wife are now suing the teen driver, alleging her high-speed selfie-taking caused the crash.

According to a report on KTLA News, Christal McGee took the ill-fated selfie while driving on a four-lane highway outside of Atlanta using Snapchat’s ‘Speed’ filter, which shows how fast you are going while taking the picture, a feature that for some reason exists.

Lawyers for plaintiff Wentworth Maynard say McGee’s argument was “she was just trying to get the car to 100 miles per hour to post it on Snapchat.”

McGee was traveling at 107 MPH when she struck Maynard’s Mitsubishi, sending the car careening across the left lane and into an embankment, according to Maynard’s lawyers. The speed limit on the highway was 55.

McGee, evidently a dedicated Snapchatter, even took a selfie in the ambulance, trussed up and covered in blood, with the caption “lucky to be alive.”

Wow, just wow. :/

Kids these days have it too easy. Can't punish kids no more so they don't learn till its way to late. I still remember the beating my old man gave my backside with a belt. The lava soap I suck on for 30 seconds to a min. Do that today and the parents go to jail.

Drivers stunned when hundreds of slithery snakes take over road

Sarasota County, FL (WMC) - Hundreds of snakes have found their way onto a road in South Florida. The hundreds of snakes slithered onto a blacktop road in Sarasota County in an attempt to warm themselves on the blacktop.

Police said the snakes are harmless banded water snakes. Harmless, yes. Creepy, definitely. They took over both lanes of the road, turning the asphalt into a pulsing nightmare for anyone with Ophidiophobia (the fear of snakes).

But unfortunately for the snakes, they were in much more danger than any driver. Many were run over by passing vehicles and didn't survive the adventure.
While the snakes are not venomous, they do bite. That didn't stop some people from trying to save them. They snatched up the snakes and put them in bags and other containers to get them off the road.

"They're animals and they deserved to be saved, and it's sad that they are all being killed on the road at no fault of their own. They are just trying to get to safety. So, we are trying to assist them," Lucille Vautier said.

A Sarasota County worker said the snakes were also on the move because a pond was dried in preparation for Hurricane Matthew.

Florida Woman allegedly swaps barcodes, pays only $3.70 for $1,800 worth of electronics

VERO BEACH, Fla. – A Florida woman is accused of paying only $3.70 for nearly $2,000 worth of electronics after she allegedly swapped barcodes at a local Walmart.

According to a Walmart loss prevention officer, Cheyenne Amber West and another women entered the store and began taking video game controllers, a computer and other items from the electronics department. They then allegedly went to the clearance section, where they took out the devices from their boxes and containers and placed clearance price tags on them.

The pair then proceeded to a self-checkout counter, where they allegedly scanned the clearance barcodes and paid a total of $3.70. The electronics cost a total $1,825.20.

According to the arrest affidavit, the 25-year-old said "I am just trying to get gifts for my son that I cannot afford. The computer is for my husband. Since he just got me a Coach purse, I figured he deserved something nice as well.”

West has been charged with felony grand theft and shoplifting, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. She has been released from jail after paying her $3,000 posted bond, and will appear in court on December 13.

How stupid is that? And his insurance company is never going to pay the claim on that.
