To me The Morgan Cup is something I would love to be involved in. I think it is an innovative idea to put your Average Joe golfer in the shoes of a pro for a short while. I can't imagine that I would be involved in it because I feel that THP is not a huge part of my life where it is much more to other people. I look at some of the post counts and think, "Is THP all these people do?" Tens of thousands of posts is pretty crazy! I just don't have that kind of time and dedication. The main reason I believe I am not as attached to THP is that I have absolutely no familiarity with anyone on here. Sure I have talked back and forth on a screen to a few people, but I have never met anyone on here face to face. Wouldn't know you all if I fell over you.
It actually makes it difficult to be on here at times because there are people who are very close, who know each other, who golf with each other, and it makes you feel like an outsider getting in the way at times. I saw the word "Clique-ish" mentioned and it is true to a point. Especially in Morgan Cup threads. I usually just stay away from them. This is actually the first one I have ever posted on. It is a bunch of people with this common thread (pardon the pun) who are all super excited about an amazing opportunity that has come their way. I am not a part of it and can't understand what they are thinking or how they are feeling. I would pick a side but I would have no reason to cheer for one team or the other. It really doesn't make a difference to me. And I don't know you all well enough to get in on the trash talking or anything like that. Who am I to say something about a guy I have never met, even if it is in good fun? Being a part of TMC would eliminate some of this and it is the only way I would ever get to meet a handful of you. That's what would make it a cool thing for me. Even the Demo Days would be something to get excited about, but I haven't a chance to get involved in those either.
It would be cool to get a new set of clubs, play golf at a really nice course, get treated like a pro, and all of the other perks that come with being a MC'er, but I would really like to be involved to just meet some of these people who share a passion for golf like me. I would love nothing more than to be in MC 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 if they happen, but if not I will settle for avatars and screen names.
The Morgan Cup is not what brings me to the site, it is the shared love of golf from the people on THP. Love it or hate it, that's why I am here.
