How do you go about finding tournaments to play in?

My fiancee suggested we try to find some tournaments to play in, but I've only played in tourneys through word of mouth.

What's the best method to finding some? Is there a site that lists public tourneys? Any suggestions are appreciated!

You can start at your States Golf Association website. Usually they have a calendar with public tournaments/events. Not all tournaments are posted there, and the other avenues I go through are asking or looking at the bulletin board at the golf clubhouses I play at. Large charities will also hold events in every state, like the Ronald McDonald House (these usually fill up fast).

Most course pro shops have flyers in them for local tourneys, I'd start there.

I've also seen flyers for tournaments in places like Golfer's Warehouse too.

Look at your proshop's bulletin board. Also, ask your club pro! He or she probably knows the local and regional leagues and would certainly know about any tournaments the course is hosting.
