I know the handicap systems are supposed to take into account slope ratings when calculating but I'm curious if there is a correlations between home courses being hard/easy to handicaps.

I know my home course most people that come out shoot 5-10 stroke higher their first time out, you never have a flat lie. That being said in the long haul I'm sure it all evens out.

My home course is a 72.3/134 (Not the tips) 73.7/137 (Tips)

Not the highest slope rating so curious on others thoughts and course ratings

From the middle tees (the whites), it's 69.9 and 123. I think both will go up a bit as they're currently redoing the tee boxes. Not a terribly difficult course.

Black: 7107 / 74.1 / 136
Blue: 6682 / 72.3 / 128
White: 6267 / 70.2 / 123

I've been playing either from the Blue tees (72.2/127) or a Blue/White mix (71.7/125) lately at my home course. From the tips, its 74.5/131

the one i play the most

Black 73.2/134 (6919)
Gold 70.8/131 (6502)
Blue 68.7/118 (6004)
White 65.8/108 (5343)

Montaup CC in Portsmouth, RI 71.7/126 from the Blue tees

What course is that? I'm in the area and curious if I have played it yet.

My course is either

72.4/135 - 6513
75.6/139 - 7165

I think it takes 3 or 4 times playing it before you adjust your game to the uniqueness.

Deerfield Country Club where I am starting to play more and more of my golf is:

White: 70.0/ 127
Blue: 73.0/133
Black: 75.2/135

Yardage wise, I believe white is in the 6,400 range, Blue in the 6,800 and Black is in the 7,200 range.

My home course from the white tees is 70.3/118. I shoot lower there on average than at most other courses. A lot of people don't like to post scores from their home course or club because they feel it pads their handicap. I think it all evens out in the end.

Bethpage is my closest course being a ten minute drive through the back roads.

RED COURSE

YELLOW

Champ: 69.4/120

BLUE

Regulation: 70.9/122
Champ: 71.7/124

BETHPAGE BLACK
Forward: 73.1/140
Regulation: 76.6/148

I named The Heritage at Westmoor my home course this year.

champ 74.5/134 7434yds
black 71.9/128 6888yds
blue 70.1/124 6484yds
white 67.0/116 5940yds

The champs are only out during a big tournament. I play the blues but will move up in cold weather. I wish they had a combo set blue/white. I like the idea of having more options without having to actually put out more tee markers.

My course is Inglewood

I agree it takes a few rounds to adjust to some courses

Home course

Middle - 69.4/120 (6400 yards)
Back - 71.5/127 (6925 yards)

No home course this year.

The one I've played the most is 71.1/121

My home club is The Challenge at Oak Forest in Longview, TX. There are some easier holes, but there are some holes that will give you fits if you're not a good ballstriker. The tees and ratings are:

Gold: 72.2/130, 6656 yd
Blue: 70.8/125, 6255 yd
White: 69.2/123, 5936 yd

Home course Weaver Ridge:
Tips 73.1 136 7030 yards
Gold (usually Play) 71.1 131 6543 yards

My home course says it's 6319 yards from the whites, 69.8/115, but I have asked how long it's been since the course was rated and couldn't get a straight answer. The reason I even asked is because they've made major changes to the course in the past 7 years, but I haven't seen the numbers change at all. They replaced all the greens about 5 years ago. The old greens were pretty flat and easy, while the new ones have contours and a lot of false fronts that weren't there before. They've also put in quite a few new tee boxes over the years and lengthened a few holes.

I've stood on the yardage markers with a range finder, and the 100 and 150 yard markers are pretty close, but from the tee box to the 150 yard marker doesn't add up on a lot of holes. I have old score cards and new ones and the old cards don't match what's currently on the signs, but the signs don't seem to match the actual yardage either.

When I go to other courses that are rated tougher, I shoot better scores than at my home course as well. I'm sure it's effecting my handicap, but as of now, there's nothing I can do about it.

Fieldstone Golf Club

71.7/141 from the tees that we play from 6386 yds. not the longest course but there is lots of trouble to get in to
74.6/147 from the tips 7002

I play at TPC Potomac right across the street from Congressional CC and the rating from the back tees is 72.2/134 and 74.9/140 from the blacks. I'm surprised this rating is higher because it is by far the hardest course I've played in the area. They don't even put the black tees out on a normal day because they are too hard to play! The greens are so quick and there are so many subtle breaks and double breakers that are nearly impossible to pick up. I played PGA National right after the Honda Classic and those were the fastest greens I've putted on, but they were by far easier to read and putt on than TPC's greens. And every hole has trouble on at least one side running down the hole so its very easy to have a good round go south in a matter of a shot or two. Anyway, I'm surprised the rating isnt higher based on the difficulty of the course.

For me it is 68.6 and 124 from the blues, the yardage is just under 5900 from those tees, par 70.
