I went through something similar recently also.
I played 9 holes on June 9th, and then didn't play again until the 19th where I shot a 50 and was pretty disappointed. I decided to go out the following morning and work out those kinks and what happened? I shot a 57! I was ready to walk off the course after the third hole. I only hit 1 good shot (3rd shot on the 1st hole) through those 9 holes and it wasn't even at the green since I was blocked by trees. Every shot after that was either hit fat or thin.
I went out Saturday on a different course and put together a 45/46 round where I actually played pretty well except for a few blowup holes.
The fun aspect was definitely a contributing factor as when I couldn't hit my way out of a wet paper bag, it was no fun at all but string together a few solid shots and the fun comes back.
