My Backyard Putting Green Project

The fellows are back at it today. The one holding up the rake has been doing this for 8 years and is an avid golfer. Seems pretty passionate about getting the grade and the drainage correct and the holes located properly. He's leaving for a short vacation tomorrow and will be back on my job Tuesday. Tomorrow (friday) looks like a rain out anyway. They are going to not work on Monday - without the guy. Shooting for a Wednesday finish. Their next job is going to be at my new neighbor's new construction. Turns out that guy owns restaurants and coaches middle school golf. Probably gonna be my new best friend ....

That's lunch - Day 2:

The crew had what was essentially a rain delayed day - with no rain. The fine crush stone was too wet to spread they way they wanted it to. So they pivoted and re-installed the flagstone walkway.

You can see the green paint outline of the general area where the actual green surface will be.

Coming along very nicely!

This is so cool.

I have a large sod yard that needs to not be part of a PHX back yard.

If you mean stroking the check - then yes it is completely DIY!

Hired pros. I know my limits.
Who did you use? I'm very interested in doing this as well.

The boys are back at it this morning. Cups and light wires:

Shaping the putting surface is about to happen:

Compaction of the fine crush stone feels about as smooth as concrete when wiping it by hand:

This should be the final layout:

looking good @JohnnyO3478 - you getting any work done, or just spending your time watching the guys work and taking photos?

Seems like I'm getting more done at the house than I usually do at the office!

I left for a round of golf this afternoon - and they were just getting ready to glue all the seams. I came home and it's looking really good:

One more day. I hope.

That. Is. Awesome!

Weekly. We designed the house so that we'd not want to travel. We have strengthened that position!

Looking great!

Sorry it has taken me so long to get the finished product posted. The lighting guy that worked on the project wanted some low light shots and he brought his photographer out last Friday evening. I just received some of their footage. Anyway - here are a bunch of pix:
