I have a callaway big bertha war bird 3 wood with a stock true temper memphies "10" and from my research they say the shaft weighs 100 grams... Seeing that i hit it only 160 yards I am now wondering if I were to change my shaft from a 100 gram steel shaft to a graphite 80-90 gram stiff flex shaft how many yards would I gain?

Woods and shafts have come a long way since the War Bird and the Memphis 10 steel shaft. I would seriously consider upgrading the entire club. Faces are much hotter and you would get a modern shaft as well. Check out Callaway Preowned if funding is tight. Great deals to be had there right now.

I see. Thank you. I do agree. Have tried a couple of modern equipment and am happy.

Yea newer head and lighter shaft should get you much more yardage. You can look in to heavy graphite to keep your tempo, but going down to 70 or even lighter could gain a few mph club head speed.

And all honesty, what you say your distance is, I'd look @ a reg. Instead of stiff in a shaft.
