Such good looking clubs.

I posted some thoughts on these irons in the X Forged thread, but I just wanted to jump in here and remark how beautiful these are. Every detail on them from a visual standpoint is right on IMO. The feel is so solid and powerful...it just feels like hitting the ball with a sledgehammer as opposed to a regular hammer. The launch was surprisingly good and for me these kept up with the Xforged distance despite being 2* weaker lofts.

It’s not often you golf with people who play blades. In the scramble our SemiPro has TS3 Driver/3Wood but here’s his irons. Guy hit the ball like hell.

I’d hit 6iron 170 pin high and he hits 8iron 175. I hit 8iron 150 he hits PW 150. It was crazy. But awesome to watch!

Haaaah no thanks on hitting 100 yard pitching wedges, if that!!

150 yard 5irons. I’d have to play the Senior Tees the rest of my life!

I still think it would be fun to pick up some more of these to play from time to time.

Someone talk me off the ledge...hit these today while I went it to spend some time with the Apex Pro 19...not as long but way more accurate and it wasn’t close...

Go...!!!

I used to game the 2014 MB and the Proto X before that. Was seriously looking at these until I was told that there is absolutely no help built into these clubs at all. If you don't hit these well they are going to cost you strokes on the course. Having said that the turf interaction with these is absolutely amazing.

Alrighty then, checking back in after purchasing these in August 2018 a few days after partially tearing an MCL on my woods bike. These have served as motivation during rehab for an enjoyable on course return. I've got 27 holes on these since the course(s) opened last weekend here in northern NH, and early impressions have peen printed. I'm playing 5-PW with Project X 6.0 shafts and AW with Modus 120 S. It is my first foray into Project X's, I was not fit but got a great deal from CPO and was interested to see what Project X had to offer. My reference points are KBS Tour 120, Dynamic Gold, and Hogan Apex shafts back when they were supplied by Brunswick or whoever in the 80's and 90's before Spalding. I've also got Modus 120's in a set of Srixon Z-Forged and an MD3 50* that I love.

Cutting to the chase - I like them. Every bit as much as I hoped and that is cool. The heads have fantastic lines and though I have read that Project X shafts can be harsh, so far I'm getting on quite well with them. They feel snappy and responsive and that gives me confidence that I can swing them how I want, and the overall balance is good. Combined with the soft feel off of the Apex heads, I am pretty impressed. So far I am seeing good distance control and am hitting the yardages I am expecting from them with relative ease, so that is a plus.

I purchased the AW separately and chose Nippon Modus as I thought I would prefer that shaft in the AW spot. I was dubious as to the more knife edge profile and its versatility compared to my MD3 50*. Thus far the AW has been holding its own and then some, I'm pleased. I've done a LOT of varied chipping and pitching from sodden fairway and rough, conditions that should aggravate a blade digging from lack of bounce. I've seen remarkable consistency and workability and have not been wanting badly for more bounce whatsoever. Only once or twice I simply chose a 54* instead out of pure muck and it worked out... and those were not far off explosion shots.

The short irons are kinda dreamy like you'd expect and the 5-6-7 are yes more demanding but not bad if you live near center. I have hit some really solid 5 and 6 irons off the turf that tracked beautifully, its harder to report on distance because the course I've been playing is new to me this year, and I'm not sure how sure it measure or plays yet. Scoring irons are definitely hitting yardages and flagsticks on point, I need a little more seat time with the 7-6-5 to get a finer lens on them.

Here is a smooth PW off sodden FW turf from 125 out to a green elevated a solid 35+ feet. A standout characteristic of the short iron in wet conditions is that I was getting a touch steep to try and improve contact, and was rewarded with great contact and on follow through they slice divots/pelts with ease.

These are great observations, I agree with both aesthetic statements and particularly the sledgehammer analogy 100%. They are more dense than the Z-forged and more powerful feeling off the center. PURE. I need more time with both to see which is ultimately more forgiving or playable. They definitely keep up to my expectations for distance coming from z745's, and to me that is perfect.

I missed this by a couple days but if you are still on that ledge jump brother. Consistency and "Way more accurate" is the name of the scoring iron game and if it works for you and your feels embrace it. Yes, I've done the same so am biased but I was surprised that in the hitting bay I was easily as tight with these as my z745's.

These irons. Lust. Every shot I look forward to them. The concentrated mass behind the ball just feels fantastic anywhere near center.

Things I like:
-Compact, powerful feel
-Overall balance
-Predictable, flight and distance wise
-Nice trajectory
-Plenty of stopping power
-Workable
-Sexy AF
-Did I mention Apex lineage?

Today I had a charity scramble with colleagues for the local Chamber of Commerce. We scored an eagle off a 7i I hit from 170 out, moderately uphill. It covered the flag the whole way and landed 10 ft. above the hole. Sweet.

This thread needs a bump and some more Apex MB porn. Here is my all Callaway setup. Enjoyed the hell out of the Apex MB last season, fantastic irons 🤩
