Difficulty of First Hole?

That would be a tough way to start... Although I do remember the tee shot over water for the first round of the Morgan Cup last year!! ?

I am not opposed to a hard start as if you navigate it well you can build momentum. If I had my choice I would prefer an easy momentum building hole to have confidence going into the harder holes.
 
I HATE hard first holes. Always get a bit nervous on the first tee with plenty of people watching you tee off. Nerves get the best of me and an intimidating tee shot makes it worse. Give me a nice wide fairway on the first shot any day.
 
Nice Par 4 under 360 to start is ideal. Have it be like the 12th or 13th easiest hole on the scorecard.

Now that's not to say I haven't thrown up a double on an "easy" starting hole but just saying, that's what I'd prefer.
