I'm with you on this. Living in Thailand sun protection is essential and I wear a Tilley hat.
I also use an umbrella most of the time as well.

I just picked up a Shelta Ospre hat
It looks like a bucket hat but it has a stiff brim that works great in the wind and rain.

It looks kind of douche-y, but in Phoenix during the Summer, I'm putting my collar up with or without my bucket hat!

I have one I've used for camping and kayaking. The stiff brim is nice.

You can get a straw sun hat a lot cheaper though.
