Pictures of the course

The course I went to today was closed for areation so I played another course and it was in terrible shape. The greens looked like 1000 balls were dropped on the greens from a plane. The tee boxes were all sand and clumps of grass. Not a level place anywhere.

Beautiful, thanks, for sharing. Do you consider the course tough or playable?
BOTH! It is a par 70 course, with six par-3s, mountain golf with lots of elevation changes, and definitely not a bomber's course, with several par-4s and one par-5 that need less than driver off the tee. It plays about 5500 yds from the whites, and about 6000 yds from the blues, which sounds short, but really that is due to the two extra par-3s, which effectively shorten the course by 400 - 450 yards. People generally love or hate the place, if you like target golf, dramatic elevation changes, and beautiful scenery (no houses anywhere around the course), you love the place. On the other hand, if you want to hit driver off every tee, get upset when you hit a perfect drive and end up with an uneven lie (sometimes very uneven) in the middle of the fairway, and don't like losing balls when you hit bad shots, you hate the place.

Alta Sierra Country Club, a nice simi-private course near Grass Valley, CA. First time playing here, beautiful foothill course, conditions were just so-so, with shaggy fairways, poor tee boxes, and inconsistent greens though.

Took some pics at Myrtle Beach. Pace was pretty fast so couldn’t wait for perfect pics.

Today we played one off Golf Digests top 100 courses, the Dunes course at The Prairie Club. Tomorrow will be another top 100 at their Pines course. The size and scale of this place was unreal and I've never played on greens that were this massive.

Another beautiful day at Apple Mountain. A quick shot of the par-3 2nd, three of us hit the green, I had one of those ugly shots that ends up way better than it should, a thinned 50* wedge to the middle of the green that bit well enough to stay on the green, then took the slope to about four feet from the pin.

Well if you've ever wondered what a 34,000 sqft green looks like here it is...

Nice day at Castle Oaks Golf Club yesterday. We had to get a round in there before they punch the greens next week.

I have fond memories of playing Castle Oaks a handful of times each year as I lived 35 minutes north in El Dorado Hills for two decades. We had a glorious day for golf today with almost no wind and lots of sun.

The 12th hole at Minnesota Valley CC playing 154 yards today.

The annual Trail of Terror at Apple Mountain today. Open some special back tees, get the greens as fast as possible, and put the pins where they should never be. We played from the tips, a real challenge for me, I usually play from the whites here (almost 800 yd difference), and played the course's recommended three putts and pick up for this setup. Many of the tee shots from the tips are pretty tight, some coming out of deep chutes, and some with forced carries that I could barely make.

View from the special back tee on number one, there is a fairway down there somewhere, and I hit possibly my best drive of the day:

Another really tight tee shot on the 3rd:

Tee shot on the par-5 5th, a double dogleg, doesn't set up well for someone that hits a fade:

Again need to hit a straight tee shot on the 11th:

Damn those tee boxes are a mess. Thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like a good day

@OldeDude that tee shot on the 3rd reminds me of a course round here that I have played plenty of times - very tight chute of trees and then a dogleg to the right

A couple weeks ago before peak color.

Yep, it's fall. Here's Rabun County GA, G.C. wonky #7. A 255 yard par 4 that will teach you bad words. Hit it down the right about 180 then a GW straight up a hill to a small, nasty two tier green. Miss it anything but short and consider your ball lost. This picture gives you no idea about the scary, straight up a hill second shot.20221027_141434.jpg
