I was recently fitted at a reputable club fitter(D'Lance Golf Denver,Co) who put me in a set of Mizuno MX 200 irons (which seem to be working well) by the way. However a couple weeks later I bought the R9 Super Tri, you know that fany new adjustable driver you guys demoed with great reviews! Well the fitter streched out the length to 47.5 inches with a Grafite design YS +6 shaft and took out the 16 gram wieght replacing it with a 2 gram wieght to compensate for the length. Did this efectively render this new adjustable club Non-Adjustable? And did I make the right decision?
I'm hitting it pretty good however I'm hitting a fade consistantly with it and would like to hit a little mor straight. Thanks in advance for your comments!

Wow, 47.5 inches?? That's insane, how tall are you?

Don't forget, this is the Ask The Pro section.

That real interesting fit. How did he come up with a length like that? The longest driver I have ever fit was 45.5 inches. I would need a wrist to floor measurement of over 43" before I would consider that length. Changing out the weights will not do anything to help with the length other than make the club a touch lighter to compensate. IF you can handle that length more power to you, but if you are seeing directional misses I would be cutting that club down. It is hard to handle a driver of that length. The little fade is more than likely do to the fact that you cannot close the face because of the length. Choke down 2 inches and see what the shot pattern looks like.

As a side note the club is still adjustable. Putting the heavier weight back and placing it in the heel of the club will help square up the face more. Just an idea.

5'7". but I can actually hit it. I was nervous but I told him "hey, your the expert, what ever you say"!

thanks, and by the way he measured my wrist to floor length. It was one of he first things he did. And when I pure it Whoa! 300 yard bomb! but I was more intersted in being able to adjust the club with the wieghts! A buddy of mine is going to Golf Galaxy this weekend and I asked him to see if they have a 4 gram wieght.

He also told me the longer the shaft the more club head speed I would generate thus creating a longer drive. I was about 270 off the tee before. He just told me to swing it like a Pitching wedge!

Yes a longer club will result in more club head speed. I was just letting you know that they are also less forgiving. There is a ton of timing involved in swinging a longer club. If it works for you more power to you.
