Scotty Cameron has gone mad!

My ex-girlfriend has a friend like that. Her friend's family goes to the casino all the time and its nothing for them to drop thousands and thousands of dollars like its nothing. They are very nice people, but they dont seem to have a concept of what a dollar is worth and of saving money for a rainy day.
All Ive got to say is it must be nice...
Not that my family is poor (we always had new snowmobiles and new trucks and right now my parents are retired and they have 3 '60s Ford Mustangs that my dad is restoring, one of them is a '67 Mustang fastback that is easily worth $50,000+), but dang, we never had money like that.

yeah, back when i was working Id go to Vegas for the weekend and spend 10k during a 4 day stay. but not these days. i can think of better ways to spend that kind of money. but, it sure was fun blowing that kind of dough too

Nice. The one my dad is working on will be Wimbledon White with 2 blue racing stripes down the middle and it has a 390 in it that has been dynoed at 400 hp.
Besides that, they have a '68 Mustang coupe that is bright red and has a 302 in it and last year they bought a '68 convertable that is basically a shell (no interior) and has a 302 with a 3-speed manual tranny in it.
He has a 289 that was in the coupe when they first got it, but that engine had a pretty serious oil leak, so they bought a 302 and put that in the coupe, so my dad is going to rebuild the 289 and put it in the convertable. They dont know the history of the 302 thats in the convertable, so its just easier to rebuild the 289 and put that in there. He has the chance to buy a 351, but it would have needed pistons and rings and pretty much a full rebuild, so its just cheaper to rebuild the 289 because all it needs is rings and gaskets to fix the oil leaks.
Im really more into Japanese cars, but Mustangs are cool. I got to drive the coupe a couple years back and it was fun. Its got true dual exhaust (dual pipes all the way from the engine on back, instead of from the converter back like most vehicles nowdays have) and it had a nice rumble to it. Its not a very fast car (only about 200 hp), but it sounds good and it rides nice.
My dad says he actually likes the coupe better than the fastback because of the ride. The fastback is pretty much a race car, so the suspension doesnt have a whole lot of give to it and on a rough road that thing will rattle the fillings out of your teeth. That and it doesnt like to cruise at a steady speed. Lets face it, that car was made to be run wide-open, so cruising even at 55 mph is too slow for that car and the engine tends to load up with fuel, so if you go to step on the gas it kinda bogs out. I know that he was playing with the carb to get it to run a little better, no idea if he got it figured out though.
My dad has worked as a mechanic for 30+ years, so this stuff is 2nd nature to him. He enjoys it and it keeps him busy, so I say good for him. I wish everyone could enjoy their retirement like my parents are.

wow, thats so cool. i have a 68 GT Coupe also. 289 with 225hp:

At my local Plaza Golf they have a Circle T, 1997 Masters edition Tiger Woods Replica for 30,000k.

If you have the money to spend on it, I say go for it. The guy who spends 8 grand on a putter is not worried about gaming a 8 thousand dollar putter. Im sure there will be guys lining up to buy these so they can be the talk of their Country Club. It is almost similar to buying a nice watch.

Wow, thats nice. I'll have to see if I can dig up some pics of the 'Stangs my parents have.
BTW, nice Tundra in the background. Im looking at getting either one of those or an '05 or new Tacoma sometime in the next year or 2.
Ive got a '99 F-150 with 188,000 miles on it and its been a good truck, but its starting to show its age and Im ready for something newer.

thats how my girlfriends parents are... they do REALLY well for themselves and money just doesnt seem to register on their radar

they want us to come to vegas with them in july and I'm thinking ok... couple hundred for a flight, get a room somewhere cheap... NOPE, they wouldn't even let me talk about money or having any part of planning it. They'll spend 400 a night for a room for us in a heartbeat... its unreal, I grew up in a working class family so its still hard for me to see

Nice. Yeah, I owned a couple 4Runner back in the late '90s (an '85 and a '91), then I switched to Fords because I could buy them for a lot less money, but Im hoping to be back in a Toyota soon.
Fords are nice, but they cant compare to the quality and reliability that Toyota has.

GOD I love THP...a thread turns from Scotty Cameron putters to cars in a blink of an eye!

haha ;)

I would be all over it in a second, Vegas is even better with free room and board. Plus the hotel is usually the cheap part, the money you lose in the casinos is where it hurts.:at-wits-end:

Wow, and Claire wasn't even part of this. :good:

Love the old Mustangs. Had a metalic blue 67 coupe with a massaged 302 throughout high school. Bought it for $400 when I was 15, and my dad and I fixed it up together so that it was ready to go when I turned 16. Miss that car.

Yeah, IMO a '60s Mustang is the only one I want to own. I cant stand the fox body Mustangs and IMO the new ones have too much electronics that you have to work around.
The old ones are nice because all it takes its a decent set of tools to work on. No fancy electronics, not ECU or sensors to work around.
A friend of mine has a '00 Mustang GT and its a nice car, but Id take a '67 or '68 over a newer one any day.

Years ago I had a buddy who owned a 65 convertible with a 289 & 3 speed auto. he followed that up with a 66 with a screwed up 289, we pulled it & tossed in a mild 302.

I had a couple of 73's, last year before they went with the Fox body. Notchback with 302 & a Mach1 with the 351 cleveland. Miss those cars quite a bit, not even sure almost 30 years later why the hell I sold them. For some stupid reason I always thought one of the coolest things on the car is when you turned on the brights the galloping pony would be lit red.
