The Masters Twitter Account

This has come up during a few tournaments that I’ve played in.

For Example I would read Hole 1 as 28 paces from the front and 7 paces from the left side.

With a green depth of 36 on the lower left.

I’ve seen a few where it gives you pin locations from the center as well.

The question is....how big is a “pace” ?

I kinda figured it was a yard. Thanks!

Rhetorical question: why can’t they just call it a yard?

I’d read it as 10 back of middle. Same overall numbers but the 10 just works better in my mind.

Can I answer a rhetorical? Why not, right? LOL!

My guess is the rest of the world is metric so they just say a pace so we can all have an idea of what it is instead of being precise with yardage.

I just kind of assumed it was because it depended on how tall the greenskeeper was. Could be highly amusing if you had say Shaq cut the cups one day and Peter Dinklage cut them the next day, using their own paces to measure.

Shaq one day, Muggsy Bogues the next! Lol!

After more consideration....I think the same day would be funnier.
