So I finally went down to GG to have a ball fitting done and went ahead and did a driver fitting also. I was surprised by the ball fitting for 2 reasons, I pretty much picked a good ball that I have playing for awhile now, the ProV1x on my own by just buying trying different balls. The most surprising result was the Maxfli Tour XD recommendation. The order was Srixon Zstar, Tour D, Tour Is, Penta, V1x then Maxfli. I wanted to get another ball that was more durable than the V1x as for me they get chewed up pretty good from my wedges. The Zstar was #1, however it had the least distance by a 15yd margin, but the best dispersion by 1/2. So If I wanted the absolute best accuracy the Zstar would be the ball, but losing on avg 15yds from the tee wasn't something I wanted to give up. The ball that fell into durability they recommended the Maxfli, so I bought a couple boxes to give a try. I have played the Nike Tour D before and IIRC they were more durable than the ProV1x, so if the Maxfli doesn't suit me, I may go back to that. It was actually longer than the Prov1x by about 3yds in both total and carry distance.

Now onto the driver fitting. I tried the R11 TP 10.5, Superfast 2.0 TP 10.5, Adams F11 in 9.5 and 10.5, Razr Tour 10.5 , i15 10.5, 910D2 10.5.

Here are my numbers with my current R9 at the top;

Club Head Speed Ball Velocity Launch Angle Ball Spin Carry Total PTR Deviation
R9 105 141 14.7 2930 246 272 135 5.1
R11TP 106 133 15.6 3279 232 256 125 2.7
SF 2.0 TP 104 125 23 2697 227 251 120
Razr Tour 102 138 17 2644 244 270 135 8.3
i15 103 137 17 2702 245 270 133 6.6
F11 10.5 103 135 17 2817 241 266 131 2.7
910 100 132 21 2382 242 267 133 10.6
F11 9.5 103 136 17 2689 251 277 133 2.5

So from what he said my current R9 was better than all but the Adams basically. I hit both Adams and they felt good so I went ahead of purchased the 9.5 version. They have a 90 day guarantee and you get store credit if returned for 100% of the amount. Funny part now, I left the store and went to the range to try it out as I am playing tomorrow and wanted to see how it would do in the air. Feels great, but I cannot draw the ball at all with it! Every single ball was either a fade or straight. I went through 2 bags of balls and think I hit 2 draws. Whereas my R9 I can hit anyway I want. At the store I hit the Adams on both the monitor with the screen and in the bay where they do the driver and ball fittings without the screen. On the one with the screen where you can watch your ball flight, I was getting some draw on it.

I understand some of the numbers above, but assumed deviation was deviating from the middle. Is this correct? Or is it deviating from the direction where all the balls were going for that session they were recording? i.e. if I am hitting a 10yd fade and continually hit that fade for that recording session it is measuring the deviation from for that fade?

Needless to say it is going back tomorrow. It didn't bother me taking it home as I was already going to purchase some shorts and shirts while there and decided to get the driver instead as I could bring it back if I didn't like it.

edit- not sure how to keep the spacing between the numbers

Did you choose what was tested for the fittings?
Meaning no Cleveland or Nike drivers and/or no Bridgestone or Callaway golf balls or did they? And do you know if the balls were this year's versions or last?

Yes, I walked through and selected the drivers based on his recommendation and how I liked the look, feel of them, etc. We didn't get into low spin, high spin, as frankly I have no idea about that. :) He seemed knowledgeable though. For balls I hit a Prov1x 09 version 10 times. The Provs are labeled as 09 version on the fitting results, so I am assuming they don't have the new version loaded into their system yet. Now looking at the results there are no Bridgestone balls listed. He printed out the top 12 balls based on fitting recommendation and another top 12 for distance, they only contain TaylorMade, Callaway, Titleist, Nike, Srixon and Maxfli.
