Courses in your Area

Sherwood CC. Where Tiger hosts his Chevron Challenge every year.

Pinehurst - #1-8 but #2 is on my bucket list http://www.pinehurst.com/
Tobacco Road - http://www.tobaccoroadgolf.com
Rock Barn - http://www.rockbarn.com/golf/

You can play Tobacco Road pretty cheap come Dec 1, if you want to get together for a round there let me know. As for Pinehurst you can play #1,3&5 for $90, #4,6 & 8 for $150 and #2 is $360 until Mar 5th, you have to call the day before to see if they have any openings if you are not staying at the resort. I live about a 1/2 hour away if you ever want to go.

Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey. http://www.rcc1890.com/ It's probably less than 30-35 mins from me. It has hosted Ryder Cups and many, many USGA championships. Byron Nelson was an assistant pro there in the 30's.

And, of course, Pine Valley in southern NJ.

Look at that clubhouse wow! I love old courses and clubhouses. We don't have a lot like that around here.

I will definitely let you know, I'm going to try to play Tobacco road this winter and would like to get one of the pinehurst courses knocked out before march as well.

It has always been Tour 18 http://www.tour18golf.com/homepage/start_page.php

With the replicas of all the famous holes it should be lots of fun.....well Ary and Jank1434 and I are finally gonna knock that place off my list Friday Morning....I can't wait

Tim, you all better go for #7 (#13 Augusta) in two and record the results.

Haha, if he doesn't, we'll make sure to heckle him

As for me:

Carlton Woods (they have a Fazio and a Nicklaus course), but this course is super-private
Redstone (tournament course)
Walden on Lake Conroe
The Houstonian

Golf club castelconturbia, 4th in Italy, did a junior tournament there that got cancelled due to weather after playing 7 holes. Still didn't manage to play the whole course

Newport National for me. Hoping to cross this off my bucket list by the end of 2013!

Broadmoor looks amazing.

I want to play Chambers Bay and Sahalee. Both aren't in my immediate area but too close not to make the trip. I'm working on figuring something for Chambers in next year.

I'd like to play four seasons, it popped up on ideal golfer and I missed it :(.

This one is easy, Augusta National. I cannot get on it to play so I am content to occasionally make it over to watch the tournament they have over there each year.

Considering the Country Club in Brookline is 2 miles from my home and I drive past it every time I go to the driving range, that would be #1 for me. It was the site of the 1999 Ryder Cup and will host the US Amateur next year.

Apart from that, I'd say some of the nicer private courses around here would be fun to play at some point: Charles River Country Club, Boston Golf Club, Old Sandwich Golf Club, and Sankaty Head Golf Club on Nantucket.

Thanks guys, I'm loving looking at the links of all these places. Lots of good ideas for trips here.

I have played most of the courses in the Metroplex that are public. I haven't made it up to play Old American yet, but it's on the list. Would love to play the TPC courses in Dallas (Four Seasons & Craig Ranch) as well as TPC San Antonio.

The two private courses I want to play are Colonial and Vaquero. There are a few smaller private clubs around the metroplex that have a ton of history, but playing Colonial would be a dream.

I didn't know you had that much exposure to the DFW area Frank?! Did you use to live around here or was it travel based? I missed that if people already know.

You ever play Trophy Club, north of DFW? Decent courses but speaking of history Hogan use to play there a lot.

I live in Granbury and play a ton in the metroplex. AG just put out there top public courses list and I think I only need Old American to check off their top 10. I have not played Trophy Club or any private courses in DFW, besides Dallas National. I'm lucky enough to get to play DNat 2 to 3 times a year and it is the best course I've played. To play Colonial, I'd possibly give up my first born (probably not, but I don't have kids so who knows..lol). Shady Oaks and Preston Trail are two more that I'd love to play. I've heard good things about Gleneagles and Ridglea as well. I guess being able to play Dallas National a couple times a year makes up for not being able to play Colonial, etc...
