The Golf Chick Project

I say thanks after I get carded. I have a beard right now (which has white in it btw) and the lady still thought I looked under 18.

Dude, you got a baby face even with your pornstache.

A beard in honor of the NHL Playoffs? haa haa haa :D

I had to watch Margaret Cho after reading this thread.

Either tonight or tomorrow I'll post up results of lesson #3 :)

Bummer!! My lesson has been cancelled today and has been rescheduled for Thursday!! :(

Well, my lesson has been cancelled for this week. So I'll have to wait until Tuesday. But that's ok because it will just extend my lessons another week :clapp:

So the BF and I went out and played 18 holes yesterday. A Par 60, I lost 6 golf balls, tis ok because they were my Pinnacles that I bought for cheap :good: but we both are done with golf courses for a while. Until our swing improves, we'll be at the range practicing from now on. I'll have my lesson tomorrow night, so hopefully he figure out what's wrong with my swing :(

Hehe, welcome to my world. I'm a range rat, I only play maybe once or twice a month, but am at the range 3-5 times a week. I find that sometimes playing makes me more frustrated with my game, so I try to practice out the kinks... I know there's always room for improvement.

Keep with it and soon you'll see the benefits on the course!

getting your swing down while taking lessons is tough especially with wholesale changes in your swing... did your instructor give you any advice about actually playing?

im having a horrendous time grooving my new swing on the course but im like a pro on the range... its like night and day right now... i rebuilt it over the winter with a great swing coach... i think its time to get an on course eval instead of the hitting bays

stick to it and hopefully your game improves by leaps and bounds

We probably should've just stuck to the range for a while and avoided the courses. Not ready for that yet!! Need to get the swing down. Lesson #3 tonight :clapp:

good luck GC!

Let us know how it goes tonight.

Lesson #3

Lesson #3

I had my third lesson last night and all by myself too, so I got to hog the instructor for a full hour since the BF didn't/couldn't make it or whatever (don't care ).

OK!! So, we worked some more on my swing and he agrees that range work right now is best and not trying to play rounds on the course. I'm still working on keeping my left arm straight and now I'm trying to hit down on the ball. I mentioned my elbow being tucked in, he said don't worry about it and to not listen to what other people say/suggest because only I KNOW what I'm working on and to just stay focused on that. He also said when my swing starts to look ugly, cut my swing in half and just do 3/4 swings or even 1/2 swings and mix it up a little before going back to the full swing. Also, my head...whooo another big problem I was having. My straight arms need to hit the ball, wrists need to break, and then my head can move and face forward. That's what my problem was and because I kept moving my head too early, I went up on the ball with the clubface instead of down on the ball with the clubface. Such a difference. I'm still working on it :) So for the full hour, we did a few 3/4 swings and 1/2 swings and full swings with full follow throughs, its a REAL stretch at the end, WOW!!

Sounds like good advise about working on what he gives you to work on and not paying attention to others. Sounds like you and the range are going to become good friends! Keep up the good work.

We're already "good" friends with the pro shop guy :) haa haa The range will be my 2nd home for a while!!

He video taped me again, WOW!!! My arms are def. much straighter, esp. the left arm. I just have to remember everything that I've been learning, so many things to work on. My left shoulder needs to stay level with my backswing and over my right knee-most of my weight on my right side-swing the club back but don't open the clubface-left arm straight-head down staring at the ball-not too much twist in the waist-at impact still stare at the ball/tee-hit down with the clubhead-head stays down-left arm straight-arms break so left hand is on the bottom-head still staring at the ball area/tee-left arm still straight-weight shifts to the left side...

Keep working on it and you will be suprised how natural it will become.

That is a lot of swing thoughts. After you have repeated it a few thousand times, you should be able to do it naturally. I know that once my body got grooved, I was able to start changing little things (my swing still needs a lot of help).

That's what I'm hoping...eventually, my swing will just do what its supposed to do. Right now, I've just been using my short irons, my 9i mostly for practicing and my lessons. So I'm become a pro at using my 9i. At my lesson last night, I was hitting the balls at 100 yards. And that's without effort, just me practicing my swing and keeping my arms straight and together!!

100 seems pretty awesome for a 9 iron! I know some women who just started golf can't get their driver to go 100.

Whoo...I may need double practices to me in top top shape for the FL outing :)

Unfortunately, I can only use my 9i right now, I'm sure its all in my head, but my instructor said that its the same swing for all the clubs (irons anyway) and just a different setup. But for the most part, the swing is generally the same throughout. I hope I'm able to use another club soon in practice haa haa haa, maybe my hybrids :confused2: or my 3w :confused2: or even my DRIVER :) but I'm sure that'll come later. So, I guess when we play golf on the weekends, I'll just need a 9i and my putter and we're set :clapp: haa haa haa

Cutting out all golf courses all together just seems a bit harsh. So maybe we'll just stick to the Par 3 courses. If I can hit 100 yards with my 9i, then I shouldn't have any problems, right?? :nailbiting:

great stuff and stay positive but most important have fun!

Amen to that and just keep listening to your pro. He'll get you there and I don't think you're going to fail for a lack of effort or keenness :D

Keep the updates coming

Thanks everyone. Silly as this may sound, my swing is feeling like a whole new thing to me. Its getting more technical and towards the end of the lesson, my instructor was saying I'm starting to look like a golfer now :clapp: But what a completely different feeling of my swing I had before to my swing now. Its just so different, better different :)
