What Golf Stuff Did You Do Today?

Tinkering around with an Edel SMS 7 iron in the backyard into my net.

Booked a tee time for tomorrow morning. Supposed to be 50, which isn’t an issue.. but winds are supposed to be 20 with gusts to 45. Hopefully I don’t regret the decision.

Driving range with a couple THPers.

Did a little up keeping to the backyard green. Blew off the leaves, sanded, rolled and cleaned the cups. Really needed the sand and rolling. She’s rolling very fast again.

A lesson with a new instructor, a fellow lefty. I asked a lot of questions, he filled in the knowledge gap with clear explanations. By the end of the hour my sequence was greatly improved, turning my block slice into a nice draw!

Surfed my way around Scotland in preparation for upcoming trip.

Played a quick round after work.. first round with weather in the 70s this year!

Went to the sim to get some Darkspeed time. Also played a 9 on a very narrow course. went +4, which for me is good.

Yesterday:
Large bucket with new irons and played with the Ventus red TR in my Paradym head.
A little 70 yard wedge practice and some putting.

Went to the range with my son.

Usual format for us, worked from 9 through to long irons, hybrid/3-wood and then driver. Both of us working on swing consistency and shot direction with the bigstick.

Last 30 balls are closest to the pin on Toptracer - on the 60yd 6th at Naruo, 15 each in groups of 3. Nailed my first ever hole-in-one - albeit virtual golf and only really an approach shot - with my second ball.

Son devastated to lose this time, but pleased for his old-man. I managed to refrain from buying everyone at the range a drink - so we celebrated with a KFC afterwards. I may hold bragging rights over him for a short while ;)

Went put and chipped and putted today! Working on trying a new ball the Chrome tour this year. So I am trying to get the feels for it. Today helped a lot had about a 2 hour session. Also using my new ai one milled 2 for the 2nd time outdoors
Love the look.

More swing work in the garage last night. Scheduling another video lesson with my coach now

Lesson this morning.

I've reverted back to some old bad habits (disconnection, early extending). Taking notes and need to purpose to spend more time practicing this year.

Driver swings only at the d-range. Basket of 70+ balls. Worked on my swing tempo and timing.

As long as I swing with in myself, results are good. Just swinging the club head.

Also tried 2 more drivers I have.

This year the most of the bag gonna be Callaway. Got my TD today and waiting for the 3 wood and hybrid as well. Holy Smoke.. 🤣🤣

Some yoga, another Stack System session. Set a couple of Personal bests. Really pleased with the progress so far.
Confirmed my tee time for this Saturday.
Browsed multiple websites for golf stuff I do not need but do want..

This morning I went through my main gamer bag, refueling it for a 4 day trip up north to Mesquite NV.

My Wife rec'd a 4 night comp at one the hotel casinos. She'll gamble, while I play some golf.

I will be playing the Casablanca course, and a par 3 course just up the road in AZ. Might even spend the bucks to play Wolf Creek.

Later today I will practice some short game shots, in what I expect to be wet conditions after last night's 1/2 inch of rain.

First golfing of the season, 9 holes.

Just watching the Players.

Played 9 holes a few hours after some practice today.

Except for my putter, I hit everything else with a 10 finger, baseball grip. This was an experiment for. My normal grip is a Fardon grip.

Even though I have played a ton of baseball in my life, on a golf club it felt funny.

I persevered and stuck with it. Just a few adjustments I need to figure out.

Shot a 45, with 9 bogey 1s.

Had planned to get out onto a course today but overnight rain, and rain in the morning put paid to that.

So yet another range session - 100 balls.

Irons pretty good today, chipping on point possibly my most accurate and consistent session. 3-wood reasonable today but my driver was inconsistent. Needs much more work.

Regripped my driver and scheduled 18 for Sunday. First time out this year.

Also first time gripping, used the grips in from my mystery bag. Now know I need to not tape as far down. IMG_4773.jpeg

Range today - solo so I could really focus down on some of the improvements I need to make on driver.

100 balls:

- checked my gapping between my Apex AW and my Mackdaddy 50 wedge given the change in lofts between my old X20s and newer Apex 21s. About a 8yd gap on a small sample of <10 shots each which I'm OK with at the moment - both stay in the bag and I don't really need to switch it for a 52.

- moved to driver working on shallowing out and then rotation led by the left hip. Definite reduction in my big miss right, more ending up "straight". Still starting left and fading back right to target though. More work to do on swing path to get it starting right. Good news is that the foot spray was showing that I'm getting reasonable consistency middle/middle to high/middle and reducing my heel strike. Small tee height adjustment might be required next time.

- last 30 balls was a Toptracer 30. Started really well and then 16-20 all cost me big time. Recovered a bit - but could have been a PB with just a little more care.

My coach was doing a lesson 2 bays down while I was there. Caught up with him once I had finished as he waited for his next lesson and he had half an eye on me whilst he was instructing apparently. Got a short 10 min impromptu swing coaching as input for the next couple of weeks and then I'll book another session with him.

Played golf with some friends for my birthday and hit some range balls after work yesterday
