Official Rant of the Day

So this article, and several others I read back up with I have been hearing from friends, and friends of friends....

This is pretty crazy to read. Hope you can get some answers I cant imagine how stressed out must be from this.

Being completely vulnerable and honest, I cry nightly to JB about this. I told him I think I have 1/3 the hair I used to have and it just keeps coming out. He initially thought I was exaggerating with that number, but now reading these articles it’s not uncommon to lose up to 50% of your hair. That’s an alarming number.

I used to joke that I had so much hair it didn’t matter how much I lost I would never have to worry, and I used to have to get my hair thinned out when I got it cut, that’s how much hair I used to have. Now, I can’t even pull it back because there isn’t enough there. I’m terrified.

Tough to hear that. That seems like a lot to lose. I didn't know Covid could do that, maybe see if you have antibodies? If so that means you would have had it and may give you some answers.

This is a super personal post, but I am doing this because I am wondering if anyone else has a female in their life that might be going through something similar, and if there was anything that fixed it.

This will probably be stupid to guys, but I in complete panic mode right now. For the past few weeks my hair is falling out, and not just a little bit, more like I am going through chemo and it's coming out by the handful. I got blood work done and there is nothing medically wrong with me, which I am glad about, but that doesn't explain why I am losing hair at such a rapid pace and in such mass quantities. I am truly terrified I am going to lose all my hair. It's why I didn't want to be on camera for the WGP.

I have spent hours upon hours researching what it could be, and have a new theory that my hair might be in a protein overload, and and hoping and praying this theory is correct and within 4-6 weeks I can be fixed. I saw a doctor and went to 2 different hair stylists to discuss the issue and everyone agrees this is not normal, but no one seems to be offering an explanation for why it's happening or how to fix it. They all did say that they have seen a huge influx of women coming in with a similar issue and there seems to be a possible correlation to unexplained hair loss and COVID, which is interesting, however, as far as I know I have never had it. That's not to say I haven't, but I have never tested positive, even the one time I was sick, I got tested and it was negative.

I just need to figure this out, but this is causing me great stress, and honestly putting me in a very deep depression. I cry just about every night wondering how much more hair I will lose.

Wow, GG! So sorry to hear that. Glad to have read that your future prognosis may have improved! I am a male who turned 70 yesterday. When I look at my hairline in the mirror these days, it looks like the edge of a sparse forest devoid of edge cover! I found out that my maternal grandfather had classic MPB. and my paternal grandfather had a full head of hair until he died. I seem to be splitting the difference!

I would rather hear that diagnosis Than some BS, "made up" diagnosis, that the doc has really no clue about!
"I don't know"

So, this is happening to me too. For quite some time actually. My doctor said it was due to stress. Everything else looks fine (bloodwork and everything). So, my life is nothing but stress. It makes sense though because this weekend was the most horrible weekend I’ve had and it seems like it’s starting to come out even more than usual. I feel your pain. It’s horrible and I’m sorry it’s happening to you. If you figure something out please let me know!!!

Oh no, I am so sorry! I can’t say I’m surprised though, it seems like every female I talk to is either going through this or knows someone who is. I do believe stress plays a role, I know this move to FL was beyond stressful for me, but I think it’s more than that. Something is going on, it’s happening to way too many people.

I have a game plan in place, I’ll keep you updated if anything works. I know it won’t happen overnight but I can be patient if it means getting my hair back to normal and stopping this.

I hope whatever happened this weekend has gotten better, I hate to hear that for you. I’m sending positive thoughts your way!

I hope what you have planned works! It’s such an awful feeling and very different as a female going through it.
thank you for the positive thoughts. Things are better now. Was an emergency with our daughter (the one we’ve talked about before). She’s ok now though.
I will say I’ve never heard of covid causing hair loss in women. That’s crazy! Mine was happening before I had Covid. So, I’ll just chalk mine up to stress.
Hopefully something will work soon for you, Morgan!

I’m always here if you need to talk, I can’t even imagine how stressful this weekend must have been based on what we have talked about before, I truly am sorry!!

As for COVID, I didn’t either, until both hair stylists and a few friends brought it up and I started to research it. I have never tested positive or suspected I had COVID, but it’s certainly possible. I will definitely keep you updated.

So this article, and several others I read back up with I have been hearing from friends, and friends of friends....

You said that you hadn't ever tested positive, I'm wondering if this could be a side effect of the vaccination?

Regardless, I hope it's something that works itself out because you don't deserve to experience this.

How/why do casinos still allow people to smoke indoors? Are they the last place in America that allow it?

Just got back from Vegas and it is as bad if not worse then I remembered it.

My wife is having a similar problem the last couple of years. She keeps showing me chunks of hair coming out, definitely has her worried. Her dr says it could be her age and the dreaded "M" word (we dont talk about that word in our house) or/plus the medicine she has to take for an illness. She gets blood work done several times a year for her illness and everything seems to come back normal. So they are no help at all.

Good luck on figuring it out. Crazy all the things that are coming out about covid and the vaccinations.

Not sure if this is really a rant or not, but on the way home from work I got deep into thought. It took me down a depressing rabbit hole. If I wasn't salaried and got paid an hourly rate that with all the hours I work over 40 each week I would be able to be the biggest club junky without any guilt in the world. Putting yearly figures to it just makes it soo much worse.

Stress was something I wondered about too because the move back to FL was tremendously stressful, but this is next level. If it is stress, I am not sure how to fix that, I'm a naturally high stress person.
I'm not a doc.
I'm not a woman.
I can empathize with you though.

I've heard stress can cause hair loss. And you said stress is high on you right now; and that you're a naturally high stress person. Maybe it's beginning to show a cumulative effect on you physically? This is pure guess work.

You mention covid and @Junkyard mentioned the vaccine. You've not had covid but have you had the vaccine? It might be from the vaccine.

I know that my wife suffered from brain fog after she got the last booster. And I'm partly convinced that the vaccine was, if not totally responsible for her death, it was a contributing factor. Sorry, that's my personal conspiracy theory.

Oh, and you've been on a weight loss journey as well. Could it be that you're physically exhausting your body in this way? I know I've heard when women get to what's considered underweight their menstrual cycle can be affected, they can have hair loss, and other physical maladies. Could this be your body's way of saying you've lost too much weight? I'm grasping at straws here in an attempt to help.

I hope the solution you speak of works and if it does, can you let we fellas with male pattern baldness know so we can try it too? (Thanks mom for that little gene. I appreciate it.:ROFLMAO:)

If I recall, Wind Creek casino in Bethlehem still has a large smoking area on the casino floor. And it doesn’t matter if you avoid it, you still come home smelling the same 😖

I will respond to both of you first regarding the vaccine. If you talk to people, many will say yes, it absolutely could be from the vaccine, but because not a lot is posted online about it, it's hard to find any data to back it up. The vaccine is such a touchy subject, it's really hard to know what's true and what's not. For me personally, I got the vaccine last year and had horrible side effects that are still plaguing me to this day, so I do believe it could be from that, but again there is no way to prove it.

As for my weight loss, no, that is definitely not the reason. It's been an incredibly gradual drop over the course of 18 months, if anything it's helped me, and my recent blood work was perfect, where at the beginning of the year I had some minor deficiencies that I no longer have.

Regarding the M word, my doctor did talk to me about that, but at 39 we didn't think that would be the case, and all my blood work came back fine for that, so it's definitely not that.

And I am so sorry your wife is going through this too, I really hope she finds a resolution. It's a horrible, horrible, feeling!

I am sorry to hear this GG, and hope that it resolves itself for you

I was going to say it could be a stress related issue as my dad suffered from the same thing, and due to having his hair cut short anyway, it looked like he had various bald patches, but it did resolve itself

In terms of COVID related hair loss (or shedding as they like to call it), everything I have read suggests it is a temporary thing, but it can last anywhere up to 9 months (sorry, I don't want to put a downer on things, but wanted you to know it could take a while to sort itself)
As we all know, COVID affects different people in different ways, and even though you aren't aware that you have had it, it is possible you have unknowingly had it anything up to a couple months prior to when you started to notice your problem. If you have had a fever, that can be a trigger for this condition, but depending on how your body has reacted, you may not have realised it was fighting a virus

Whatever it turns out to be, and I hope you get to the cause, I hope it doesn't last too long

I have been reading a lot about the COVID side of things and how long it will or can take to correct itself, so no worries you aren’t scaring me with those numbers.

Definitely no fever for me, in fact I haven’t had a fever in over 20 years, I never get them when I’m sick.

I appreciate the kind words and thoughts, thank you.

We are halfway through day 4 of the workweek. I'm sitting in my 6th longform meeting and listening to a presenter read everything on his slides out loud.

So this article, and several others I read back up with I have been hearing from friends, and friends of friends....

Sorry you are experiencing this.
Interesting article, as it somewhat loosely attributed hair loss to stress from Covid. It isn’t clear if they mean the stress a viral infection places on the body, the psychological stress we experience from having Covid or both. But I kinda take comfort in the idea there isn’t a known biological cause and effect at play (eg, we know what Covid does to the lungs). I hope you can take comfort in the part of the article that explains the hair loss is almost always temporary.

Not really a rant but a little late season break for me…the growth was not into my joint, which was originally thought, so my recovery should be quicker. Should be able to get some good fall golf in still.

My first wife experienced this due to her anti-seizure medication. My wife now has dealt with this since giving birth. I empathize with what you are going through and how lack of answers can be disheartening. Just remember, you are a wonderful person and aren’t defined by a singular physical attribute.

Very sorry to hear what you are going thru! I hope what you are going thru is corrected quickly! My DIL has an issue with her hair falling out and it is tied to a problem with her Thyroid. I am sure you have probably been tested for that but if not that might be something to look into.

My A/C was not blowing cold in my truck. I ended up recharging the A/C. I’m just annoyed with this chip shortage. My truck is a 2009 and while the engine is fine, all these little annoyances keep coming up. I am ready for a new truck. However, first I refuse to buy a $85k truck and not get the massage seats (but hey they will give me a $300 credit), and second, I refuse to pay $89k for a $85k truck!
