Should the PGA ban spectators?

There is, and you yanks have all the resources to do it.

First stupid yell the idiot gets a .45 to the left knee. Next yell, the right knee gets it.

If after that he still doesn't shut the f*%k up it is a head shot.

GO AHEAD PUNK, MAKE MY DAY!!!!

Wow....ummmm, remind me to never yell "CORNBREAD CASSEROLE" when you tee off if we ever see each other at a THP get together.

I think these idiots will shout it no matter what because they are getting heard on tv and that's their goal. Surely the PGA can put mystery spectators in the crowd who just watch other fans and if they see someone shout then they notify stewards/police who throw them out then they move on to another hole. People will realise there are mystery spectators and with the chance of being thrown out they will not shout anything.

Until the gallery polices itself this is going to continue. While sitting at the 10 green on Sunday at the open we had a group of these fools show up in the grand stand. They attempted to start this banter, till a few of us told them the needed to find another place outside of the Olympic Club to do that at. The mumbled some words and left our area. But it happens way to often. I'm all for escorting these fools to the gate and stripping them of their tickets. The USGA and the PGA needs to take a stand on it. Print some sort of conduct rules on the back of the tickets and enforce it.

Unruly fans will be escorted out of every other sporting event why not in golf? The players deserve it as do the other spectators.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I thought the one times and boom shocka lockas were kind of funny...

Secondly, maybe some of it is unnecessary, but don't we like Phoenix because of the stadium atmosphere at number 16? Don't we get a kick out of the guy at up north telling sergio to hit the ball already?

Does it not correlate to flashy clothing and white drivers? Maybe it's an evolution of the game where the gallery is a little more active. There's probably a place for it and times where it's not the place like Augusta.

Not saying its ok, just inviting discussion. Not sure how I feel about it actually.

I'm waiting to hear "AWWW SKEET SKEET SKEET!". I find it annoying, doesn't surprise me some pros do too.

I see no place for it. The stadium hole is the one exception for a rowdy crowd. I think what happend to Sergio in Ny was shameful and I see no relation to flashy clothes and white drivers. Have you seen what they wore in the 70's on the course were just heading back there with golf fasion only better hue's and fabric's.

I'd be annoyed at the fact that I won Tiger's event twice and the trophy is still a sculpture of a Tiger with the World under it's paw...should be in between two Graham crackers or something...

I think this is the only exemption to the unruly crowd rule, as it is expected and even encouraged by the players for this one hole at one tournament. I don't care what the event is sport or concert people acting like this is annoying to those around them.

I'm with T2Grn that the galleries need to police themselves and if they do this then this crap will end. If one or two people stand up to the unruly people more will follow suit and put an end to this crap. I have been known to have people who are inconsiderate and acting stupid at events removed(more than a couple occasions).

I also think that the PGA & LPGA should put rules on the back of the tickets and enforce them. One of them should be specifically about personal conduct to include yelling at or toward the players.

I wouldn't mind the shouts so much really if they were shouting something constructive or supportive of the players and not just ridiculous, random things. As long as they keep it toned down until WELL after the shot. (not directly after contact) and they aren't being belligerent with their cheers it should be okay IMO. I wouldn't want to pay money to be a quiet, golf clapping, zombie out there.

Keep it fun, BUT keep it tasteful.

This!

And sure, "Get in the hole" from the tee box on a par 5 is silly... but is it really "unruly." I'm not saying make these events a free for all, but I also agree with COLT - people shouldn't have to be quiet, golf clapping zombies. I think cheering aloud makes it fun.

Luckily he didn't act like a true Irishman and knock him out.

I laughed out loud at this. But that would be the typical Irish response.

He speaks his mind and stands behind his words. Great guy for the game and is a true Irishman!

Ditto.
He also speaks his mind in a tactful way. Much appreciated I think by the public. I believe this is one reason he has the USA fan base that he currently has.

I get more and more irritated every time I hear someone yell "GET IN THE HOLE" on any shot, especially a long tee shot, when viewing on TV, but I heard one earlier this summer that takes the cake as far as verbalized random stupidity goes...

I can't remember which tourney it was, but it had to be a Sunday because Tiger had the red shirt on....It was a week or 2 after his first win of the season and he was struggling a bit on Sat and Sun....

They showed a replay of a Tee Shot that he pulled and did the slow mo and telestrator stuff to try to show what went wrong in the swing..after the lesson they showed a full speed replay with audio..

As soon as Tiger finished his swing some dumpster headed fool yells "THAT'S MY BOAT!!!!!" at the top of his lungs.... REALLY DUDE?!?!?! Thats my boat???? W..........T...............F.......... was that supposed to mean anyway???

I literally rewound and watched/listened 20-30 times to try to figure out if he was yelling something different... so basically I did exactly what the idiot wanted me to do...I paid attention to him and let him affect my enjoyment of the broadcast...congrats man.

Dude. He yelled that because Tiger pulled the shot all the way into the parking lot where his boat was hitched to his truck... :act-up:

It'll stop once the PGA Tour start kicking these losers out. Word will spread and it will disappear. Especially if they cancel your weekly pass. In Australia, Cricket used to have the problem of streakers. Then they put a big fine on top of eviction and now the fine is $5500 and banned for life, no questions asked. Problem is virtually non-existent now. Big signs on entry, people caught yelling ridiculous crap will be evicted, fined and banned. Easy.

Ian Poulter should focus more on his golf game and less on his twitter account and perhaps he'd play better.

I like it. I like that people shouting garbage at a PGA event get removed. I'm fine with "get in the hole" or something related to golf, but this random garbage can be stopped as soon as they want it to.

One of the things that always makes me laugh when you watch the PGA tour on TV is the knuckleheads who cheer as soon as the player tees off with a driver. Sometimes the player takes a swing, and obviously hits the ball hard and long, and a some people in the crowd immediately cheer -- sometimes with great enthusiasm -- and then you immediately see the player looking disgusted as the ball goes right or left in to the trees, or into a bunker or something.

And I alway think: "What were they cheering? That he was able to hit the ball?" You see much less of this when the golf fans are more knowledgeable, such as at the Masters or at the British Open.

I hope to see other tournaments following suit.

doubt that such really happened.

He's actually 15th in the world. He's not really a slouch.

Nothing like the 137th ranked guy in the world who makes rap videos.
